2! It's open world and you can do whatever you want! Dungeons are way better and so are the fighting mechanics in the sequel!  :D

I gotta say the second one. The combat is so much better.

Both games are extremely well done.

2 is a very good sequel. It has improvements on almost everything.

Would also say 2. I was just so blown away how much everything was improved.

It's really hard to tell.  The combat for both is good, although they have different feels to them with Darksiders 1 feeling like Zelda crossed with Devil May Cry and Darksiders 2 going full Devil May Cry (this is because with very few exceptions, Darksiders 2 bosses and mini-bosses don't need to have weakpoints revealed before damage can be done).  Plus Darksiders 1 had better ways of introducing bosses.

I'm loving the fact that Darksiders 2 has larger worlds (plural) as opposed to Darksiders 1's one world, but the puzzle solving in Darksiders 1 was better.

I also love Darksiders 2's loot drops and ability to partially customize your playstyle with different skills, but it's not something that I felt Darksiders 1 needed.  Same for side quests.

The only thing I don't like about Darksiders 2 is that the cutscenes tend to be less dynamic, the characters' mouths look weird while talking, and the fact that the enemy in Darksiders 2, the corruption, seems like it was a last minute thing, as if the developers thought it would be a great idea to have Death go around killing Angels and Demons as War did, but forgot to gave him a good motivation to do so until the end of development, but that's a nitpick.

All in all, I would say that both are excellent games, neither solidly better than the other.

I liked the second one better. Much like Mass Effect 2, or the Witcher two it seems like the developers really hit their stride and seeing what they wanted their new IP vision to be like from the first time around.

I think the gameplay of 2 is a vast improvement, the customization of Death was a nice addition, eventually his scythes could be absolutely overpowered,  Also how smooth the game plays is a big factor, but it wasn't better in every aspect. I think the story of the first Darksiders was marginally stronger, and the boss battles (with the final boss as the only execption) were just a bit more fun to fight. So overall Id say 2 is better but just slightly, I've got 100% of achievemnets from both so I've played them both to their completion and the way I would rate 2 over 1 is so imperceptibly small, they're both just really fun games. I had a blast playing them.
