Remember those old Star Wars PC games?

So I have been playing the Star Wars best of PC collection again, specifically Empire at War, and I realized how great the atmosphere and gameplay was. The rebels really feel like the underdogs in even enounters, and as the empire you really feel like you are crushing your enimies under a massive war machine. Every gameplay element falls into place to build the sense of identification with your faction. I rarely see games built like this, but I wonder if any of you think another game does it better? Specifically a star wars game?

No. No I do not. I have never played any of the Star Wars games. At least not to my knowledge. And I do not really like that franchise very much. As a kid I quite liked Star Wars, nowadays it seems somewhat boring to me.

I would say the Star Wars best of PC is worth a shot simply because of the varity. It has a in depth rpg,  a strategy, battlefront 1, a good squad based fps, and a weird more standard fps. Plus its old enough to be pretty cheep.

I've never really been into that genre of game, but I do remember liking 'TIE Figher', 'X-wing'  and 'Rogue Squadron'

But now it's DISNEY....

Imagine it .... Yoda, back from the dead to sing Circle of Life.

Is this before or after Han Solo rescues Bambi's mother?

Is that the one where Chewie joins in on the chorus? Or was that "Under the Sea"?

Wait. Doesn't Disney own Marvel too?

Let's just wait. Maybe Disney won't fuck it up. OOPS!!! Too late. They cancelled Star Wars 1313. They already fucked it up.

The Star Wars titles are some of the best games put together. Empire at War is still one of my favorite Strategy games, Republic Commando one of my favorite FPS games, and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic my all-time favorite title. I really hope that in the future Star Wars games can be made as good as the old ones, but I highly doubt that. Especially with Disney running things.

Count Dooku: "Let's see how well those claws do against my lightsabre wolverene!"

Padame: *gasp* "Magneto just crushed the entire droid army!"

Agent: "Hawkeye! Do you have a shot?" Jar Jar: "Meesa wann-aahhh!!"  Hawkeye: "I took down the target"

Hulk: "Hulk smash star destroyer!" *roar*

aaaaand so on

I was drunk enough to have awful nightmares without this.

Anyway...my gaming experience with Star Wars stops at an arcade that was in a bar when i was a kid. Kind of a space invaders with backgrounds of characters from the saga.

I played it, don't remember anything too similar to it except that it was kind of based on Star Wars Rebellion from 97.

So less silly than the prequels?

WTF? Old Star Wars Games? Empire at War? Are you kidding me? Old Star Wars games are titles like Rebel Assault or Dark Forces or X-Wing vs. Tie-Fighter. I will not consider any game released after Episode I an old star wars game!

The Dark Forces series was awesome, and Jedi Outcast and Academy had, what i think, is the best lightsaber combat system of any Star Wars game.

I had trouble with outcast 2, it may have been that I was young at the time, but I could not figure out what to do in early stages.

Can't we ignore it like we always do? Just pick the fan fiction you like most and make it your own personal cannon, ignore the rest.

If only I had the budget Disney does... Oh the things I'd do.
