Welcome to Dota 2! You Suck!?

sorry its an pun thing, you will improve over time with play and advice :). anyways would recommend friending Mr Fool and/or Mr Derwisj (or me soon enough :P) on steam. There is a dota 2 ingame guild which does play games with each other(both inhouse and in stacks). Id highly recommend getting Teamspeak 3 client and coming on the ajsa teamspeak server(ts3.ajsagaming.com with no password)(there will be some things you do need to do once you log on Teamspeak 3 server, so id say go check out the tutorial in the tutorial section.

Also there is a coach thread in the forums if you want coaching to help expedite the process of learning dota 2 :)

Be warned, the violent community and the learning curve equivilent to climbing mt doom while flying monkies throw rocks at you ..... the road will not be easy ... but the reward .... mediocrity!

Nice to see another member starting to play Dota 2. Have Fun!

Just a tad bit of information. Once you hit level 10 in Dota 2 you will then be able to play Ranked Mode. Upon playing 10 matches, Dota will assign you an MMR (Match making rating). This rating will help match you against players of your skill level.

Welcome to this wonderful game called Dota 2, that we all hate and love (mostly hate), but can't stop playing. We have a lot of players who are able to help you getting better or grasping the basic concept of the game. Most of the people here are friendly (except for some douchebags like me). And there is always somebody who wants to party up to play!

Also - I strongy recommend against playing ranked mode. For a few simple reasons: You don't really need it. Matchmaking will still give you some hidden ranking that it will use to match you up with players of the same what same skill level (yeah, in theory). And it's meant to be for players who find normal matchmaking boring and not worthy of their skills. Or just want to see some huge rank at their profile. It's a bit more toxic place.

additionally even with reaching lvl 10 you usually wont have more than ~150 ish games(esp with the recruit system if its based on level alone) which isnt enough to jump into ranked tbh(Dota 2 has about 108/109 ish number of heroes atm)(meaning 1  game per hero if you did A-Z challenge) i wouldn't recommend ranked till 300+/400+ pvp non ranked games so youve atleast gotten a good idea through playing of several times per hero and more variety of heroes that each of those heroes work with. Ranked more of a mode to challenge yourself(mechanically) with than learning hopefully anyway(some times matchmaking fails)

the tutorial while helpful in basic movement still is abit lacking imo: semi-constant movement rule, how to make the shop into grid mode, how to use guides, the items the side shop sells that is said to be secret shop only, warding basic locations for example.

Well, I didn't see this till like now, so 5 of you have already beat me to it, but I'm going to say it nethertheless.

Welcome to the Wonderful, Difficult world of DotA 2, filled with the whining shitcunts we like to call the DotA 2 community! ( In all seriousness, DotA 2 community IN GENERAL is a pretty toxic community, like nearly COD Xbox levels of toxic). Nethertheless, all of us here play DotA alot, and all of us here are more than happy to teach you these brand new mechanics! As stated above, =AJSA= mrfool and =AJSA= mrderwisj are our 2 game officers of the guild, and both of them are more than happy to teach you these mechanics (they taught me an abundance of new things). We all look forward to seeing you, and we hope you get the best of luck in your games!
