Top lan/multiplayer games - with a twist

3 posts in this topic

Hi Everyone,

So me and a few work buddies love to play games every now and again on our work laptops after hours, but this brings some issues:

  • all copies of the game have to be legit but either free or cheap
  • the laptop graphical power isn't great, so nothing cutting edge (L4D seems to work fine, nothing more than that though)
  • nothing with a massive learning curve
  • any genre

So far we've worked our way through L4D, Worms, Quakelive. Everyone has steam as well. anyone have any ideas????

Thanks for the help :)

You should try OpenTTD. In it you run a transportation company and you can have trucks, trains, boats and airplanes moving all sorts of cargo. It's extremely fun with a group of people.

I would recommend Borderlands. It's a 4 player co-op game with lots and lots of loot. My friends and I have used many hours playing it, and it's also quite cheap on Steam. An other game, I would recommend, is the F2P game Path Of Exile. If you like games like Torchlight and Diablo then it will be right up your alley :).
