Worst Gaming Community?

60 posts in this topic

OK, my first MOBA game is League of Legends. I played some DOTA 2 back in 2012 and I quit it after 2 days.

Reasons:

1. I sucked.

2. I was playing alone and it was a little more boring and harder to learn and less joyful.

3. COMMUNITY SUCKED!

"Apex fucking noob gtfo and uninstall the game"

"fucking noob gtfo"

"Learn to play kid"

"omg gtfo fucking kill stealer"

That is the only things in chat that I saw in those 2 days. Of course I quit the freaking game.

Now hold on and calm down, I'm not saying DOTA 2 community is the only one that sucks, but so does LoL's just as much and I'm sure all other MOBA communities are as bad, but some maybe less.

The only reason that I'm  STILL playing League after 5 months since I started is because I had friends to play with and one of them constantly played with me until I hit 30 and he still does. Less now since he started Ranked.

Anyways, I've played MP games with HORRIBLE communities....

Counter Strike 1.6/Source/GO- Assholes, cheaters, kids, l33t and that kind of shit. Less in Global Offensive though.

Battlefield 3 - Ok, I don't hate Polish and Russians at all, but damn, these guys in BF3 always used the most annoying tactics, guns and vehicles and they never spoke English. All they did was curse at you in Russian or Polish and I knew they were cursing at me because I saw my name there. Not to mention all the dudes with their playstyles...overall same crap like CS, but with less cheaters.

CoD MW2 - I don't think I have to explain myself.

And several other games with pretty bad communities, but a little better than the ones above.

Now let's get to the number 1 of the shittiest and most poisonous communities of any genre and game that I played...

#1 SHITTIEST COMMUNITY AWARD GOES TO

MOBA

Since I played LoL the most, let me try to show you an example of this community...imagine yourself playing a certain role you never played and you want to learn it.

---------------------------------------------------

Me: Hey guys

Your team: Hey

Me: Playing Kata mid for the 1st time, I will do my best

Your team: Don't feed

Me: Ok

*10 minutes later you get killed*

Your team: Kata stupid noob l2p

Me: Sorry man, I'm learning

Your team: go play custom games with bots noob

Me: Ok...

*You finally get a kill*

Your teammate: OMG KATA FUCKING NOOB KILL STEALER

Me: We were killing that guy at the same time and I hit him last, not a KS.

Your teammate: I attacked him first idiot fucker

Me: I came to help you, he would of run away

Your teammate: He wouldn't fucking noob gtfo and uninstall the game

Me: Nope

Your team: Kata noob feeder gtfo

Me: Alright...I died 2 times only, you died 10

Your teammate: Kata reported for noob

Other teammate to enemy team: Every1 report our kata noob plz

Enemyteam: Why?

Teammate: bcz our kata is a fucking nuub feedr

Enemy: Ok

Me: Dude, you have worst KD than me and you are not even doing objectives

Teammate: stfu and l2p

---------------------------------------------------

I could go on forever and forever and forever...the amount of idiots, kids, criers and what not in LoL community is just beyond me. And that's just EuW...I heard that OCE server is like League's prison pit for worst of the worst players.

Players make fun of each other in-game, forums...example:

Some guy opens up a thread that a champion needs a buff/nerf and most people will just dislike the post and start insulting.

I've never witnessed or heard of a worst community...I mean if LoL had a in-game VoIP, Call of Duty wouldn't even be close as bad as League of Legends. I'm sure it's same in DOTA 2 and most MOBAs...and I might have a simple explanation as to why.

Team size / Teamplay

Unlike BF3 or some shooter where teams are bigger, you will get less shit on by your team simply because the team is bigger and the team's victory and success doesn't depend only on you. Same with most shooters where teams are a little larger or any game with a little larger team. In DOTA 2 and LoL for example, teams are composed of only 5 players and almost everyone's effort and gameplay is important. If your support fails, you might lose Bot lane. If your top fails, you might lose top lane and the game, if you can't organize yourselves. If one or 2 more teammates feed in your team, you might lose the game. One player has huge impact on the outcome of the game in MOBA games because the teams are smaller, meaning everyone needs to play their best.

Nobody likes to lose in these games as they are very competitive so having a bad player will piss off some "l33t victory pro" he will act like a giant ass dick to you, if you fail...that's when all hell starts to break lose.

That is my simple personal explanation as to why the MOBA community is probably the worst...or is it?

In my opinion it is because I haven't seen more assholes that made me quit the entire game than in LoL and DOTA 2. I've talked to a few friends who play DOTA 2 and they say the community isn't any better than LoL's and it's basically the same shit. If anyone said, "I don't want to play League/DOTA" and I asked why, they always said, "Because of the community." And I agree 100%.

Luckily, I really enjoy LoL so I can look past all the idiots in the game and I simply use mute, but if I paid attention to every idiot in that game, I would uninstall the game at this moment.

What's your opinion on all this and do you think MOBA has the worst community? If not, please tell me which community is more poisonus, I really want to know lol

The reason "communities" like that are so hostile is because one player has the power to ruin the experience for EVERYBODY. Still, how many threads have been made about this now? xD I think that says something alone about how many bad experiences people have had with "communities" like that.

i dont want to offend anyone who plays League of Legends but where i live, every single LoL player i met/saw was a d*ck/douchebag :/

i often complain about the BF community being trigger-happy but its nothing compared to the LoL community in general

Damn Fluffy, I forgot to check if there were similar threads, sorry. :/

And GoodOldSmurf, I can understand why you think your LoL friends are assholes and I understand. I have a friend who plays LoL and he is a immense dick to people...but he is like that in every game. I'm not sure that all LoL players are dicks in real life...they are simply bad mannered in general and they are even worst in games...they are not dicks just because of LoL (I hope). I know few friends who play LoL, but they are just normal and well-mannered, but even in LoL they can be assholes, but so can anyone. Although I hate raging at someone and swearing for no reason, even I do it, but that's only if a guy constantly swears at me and calls me names, but lately I just learned to mute them.

thats pretty much what im saying, but stress the "bad mannered" really, i rarely see less educated people when it comes to LoL players manners

still doesnt beat that guy that was at my school, he was a Mac fanboy, he would use his shitty macbook air to play any game even LoL and on top of that he kept saying his MacBook had a supercomputer GPU, which is far from being true (macbooks have shitty Intel HD GPUs) and so he was quite arrogant, with no manners whatsoever (quite ignorant in what he was talking about actually)

im not generalizing but theres quite alot of people like that, being total assholes even to newbies

they would think they are gods when winning and they would rage-cry when getting owned hard

i find it hard to even call them "gamers" since they violate at least 1 rule of the Code of the Gamer

The MOBA genre is one of the most competitive genres in gaming history.

I am learning DOTA 2 and so far my experience is great. Maybe because I play with bots and get coaching and play alongside Muddlet, Kaze, WarSocialist, and Sundaecat.

I recommend playing with friends so it can better the experience.

The worst community for me was Xbox Live (no offense to all the Xbox players in this forum.) Never again.

Exactly! The reason why I quit DOTA 2, but kept on playing League was because in DOTA 2 I was playing alone and in League I was playing with friends, they warned me that the community is poisonous, they told me the game has a big learning curve, but they were there to support me and they made me love the game despite all the shit. I learned from that, that DOTA 2 and LoL as games are not bad, they are great, but reason why so many people call them shit games is because of the community and such people in general, create a whole negative picture of the games, thinking the games themselves are bad.

I've had tons of fun in LoL so far, I've raged so hard so many times, when I won and played good I was extremely happy...that game awakened emotions inside me that no game can. When I know I won a game and I carried my team, I know then that I was simply better in this game than 5 other people...I carried my team versus theirs and we won...it feels amazing. I haven't cared and loved victory in games so much as I do in LoL.

Only bad thing about League and in DOTA 2 for that matter is the community, otherwise they are extremely fun and good games to play.

Like I and Demon said, maybe if you had someone to play with you would of liked the game. I remember the first time I played the game, I played it by myself and I quit after a few days just like DOTA 2. A year later, my friend invited me to join him, told me he would help me play, get better and so on. I'm sure if you played with someone at that point, you would of liked the game. If you ever want to give it a shot and want someone to play with, you know where to find me.  ;)

not in any way, does it justifies the general player behavior

i find Battlefield, CoD, Ace Online, Planetside 2 and APB Reloaded are alot more competitive than any MOBA

CoD I think or CS are the most competitive FPS games.

LoL and DOTA 2 are the most competitive MOBA games.

Starcraft 2 is the most competitive game of it's genre as well I think.

Battlefield isn't that competitive because it just needs better E-Sport support. I'm not sure how it's with BF4 now, but BF3 wasn't that big competitively due to lack of support and features to make it a true, successful competitive shooter.

I'm not sure which genre is the MOST competitive, but if I would guess, it's MOBA just like Demon said.

you have NO idea just how competitive Planetside 2 is :D

in fact, i find shooters like Planetside 2 tend to be based on competition alot more than even MOBAs because Planetside 2 features only PvP, nothing else, its based on "whos the best in this faction" and "whos the best in the enemy faction" pretty much 24/7 on-going PvP battles on massive scale

I think this sums it up: http://arcadesushi.com/most-professionally-competitive-games/

Since PS2 is still new, it has a lot to prove in e-sports. League of Legends, DOTA 2, CS and few more FPS have been in the e-sports for quiet a long time now. Look at Twitch TV, the most streamed games constantly are LoL and DOTA 2, not to mention when there is a championship happening...they get hundreds of thousands of viewers just on on channel. Games like LoL and DOTA 2 are 100% based on E-sports. They have 100s of sponsors...in Korea, big business corporations themselves sponsor their LoL/DOTA 2 teams. More and more corporations across the globe are starting to sponsor MOBA teams.

Once you reach level 30, you don't even have to find a team/clan to play. You can soloQ in ranked and climb up the list. Once you reach high enough (max Challanger) you might get invited to a pro team without even asking for it. I'm not sure, if it's same in DOTA 2, but I'm sure it's similar.

I don't doubt PS2 is competitive, but it's got a long way until it surpasses LoL and DOTA 2. MOBA and SC2 are the most played e-sports games in South Korea which btw is the throne of e-sports.

Btw this is a great video, check it out^^ (my fav LoL Youtuber btw)

argh, theres more than a reason why Planetside 2 isnt streamed that much, if you go on youtube, you can fairly understand why

but play it, never did a game give me competition more than PS2, not even NHL 2011

Don't get me wrong mate, I'm not saying Planetside 2 is not popular in e-sports, I'm just saying it still has to work it's way to surpass LoL/DOTA 2.

I knew LoL and DOTA 2 were some of the most famous e-sports games before I even started to play them and I wasn't even that much interested in e-sports.

If you can link me with some good sites to regularly catch up on some PS2 e-sports, I would be glad. I mostly enjoy all FPS/MOBA e-sport games, but I mostly follow LoL and CS from time to time.

Also, just saw this comment on Youtube for Heroes of the Storm

Proves my point, but sadly it seems that every MOBA game has it's own kind of fuc%ers.

Why can't people just enjoy all games and stay away from the ones they don't want to play? That's my damn question...no, they have to go on Youtube and mock other games and their player base.

I as a LoL player actually look forward to Heroes of the Storm and I even plan to play DOTA 2 in near future.

If anything............ Shouldn't Dota Dos be sued by Blizzard LONG before LoL?

And... shouldn't Blizzard be sued by Games Workshop for making a computer version of their table top game?

And shouldn't games workshop be sued by Wizards of the coast (DnD) for making a miniatures table top game of their paper top game?

And shouldn't wizards of the coast be sued by JRR Tolkien for using just about everything he wrote?

And shouldn't JRR Tolkien be sued by all the various cultures, legends, lores, and tales he took inspiration from?

In fact, isn't that why they're making HoS, because they (Bliz) can't wrestle Dota from Valve?

I don't know. I'm tired.

The worst part is when people get booty tickled over non-ranked games. Okay, swear word here and there, maybe an insult. Whatever, we all get a bit steamed. But come on. Come on. Come. On.

I never understood the appeal of real time strat Mobas. Might as well play Warcraft, Starcraft, Diablo, C&C, Warhammer, other good real strategy games that I can't remember, other good top-down rpgs.

It is always a sad thing when you see people in a community saying how bad the community is. Have you ever tried going to work and saying "I hate this shitty job!". You will get a good response only from the people that can't do their job right or don't even know why there are there at all. MOBA games are Team games. Unless you know what this means you will always get frustrated. There will be always abusers and noobs and all kinds of people. But usually if you are playing a 1v1 game you don't have to deal with other people. In CS you don't have much time to talk or type. In SC/SC2 you won't even bother. There is no problem with the MOBA Community. There is a MUTE option in every MOBA games. No one makes you play with Random dudes but unless you don't find friends to play with you will have to deal with a bunch of idiots :) Now if you are really good with your teaming skills you will know how to play with bad, offensive, ignorant players and still have fun and win games (not always). The biggest problem with a "Team Based Game" Community is that unless you actually have a team, you will suffer the same situation anywhere anytime. So you might as well learn how to deal with it.
The reason why you think that MOBA is the one with the Worst is cause probably you played more MOBA then the rest of the games.
If you are referring to the hate on Russian players in general then that is a different racial Problem. I have seen this and don't approve of it. From Dota 2 I must say I played with some very good Russian players. But the most of them were bad. Let me explain. Russia is a Big country, but I am sure that the Percentage of good players there is not less then in any other country. The problem is that because of the big numbers of Russian players, there are just a lot of them that are not that good. So they create the false idea that generally Russian players are all bad. Be assured the smart decent people don't hate russian players and don't think they all suck. The ones that do, just don't get the bigger picture. We can't re-educate the entire world I'm sorry. Sadly most people will not expand their perspective after the age of 16. I personally like the Idea to behave online the way you would behave infront of some one's face. But most players online can just about type and say everything to you without any consideration.

It is not easy trying to carry your team, if your team is a bunch of idiots who are trollers...I was in this situation a million times and not to mention much better players failed to carry their team and in the end they had to try and win by themselves. No matter how good you are, if you got a team who doesn't listen to you it's just not possible to win unless you go Rambo-mode and win against other 5 players yourself. That's why MOBAs are team-based games and not something else. With a shitty team it's impossible to win, just like in sports. If your team doesn't follow you and listen to you, but the other team is better and better organized, of course they win.

Finding friends to play with is always the easiest option in any game, but your friends aren't always available either. How many times I had one good guy in my team, but when you tell your other teammates to push top they do nothing. In teamfights they brainlessly roam jungles and do nothing, when you are attacking a tower/inhibitor they don't even bother to help. I did not make up the fact that MOBA has the worst gaming community...just look at League and DOTA 2 players and their manners. Look at Youtube comments, forum conversations, pay attention to in-game. If you are not a good player they will shit on you and insult you, if you are playing a champion that is a little OP they will call you a fag, if you feed they will call you hunderds of bad names and I can go on forever.

How many times as a jungler, one of my teammate stole my buff and wrote, "HAHA NOOB."

I can just keep on going forever and forever.

I've met great players there too, but it's a lot more rare than finding idiots.

Also I don't hate Russian players or any, I was just saying that in BF3 (not MOBA) I've met a lot of RU players who just do the same things over again, but I never said anywhere that all Russians are like that. I don't hate them. Unless you were reffering to other people in general who hate them.

Yay another moba community hate thread... Lets sum this up. Moba's are incredibly competitive by nature. Most people who act this way are actually quite terrible at these games themselves. It sucks that you have to make your way through these losers to increase your level/rank but its the nature of the beast. There are a few people like this who are actually good at MOBAs but they are few and far between. As you get better at the game, you will run into less and less of this.

So my advice? Get good, and mute the losers who rage.

Sadly I forgot to check for similar threads, but good advice.

When it comes to moba's, it's pretty much death by a thousand papercuts, hearing "you suck" and "fuck you" over and over gets to you over time, used to be a LoL player, uninstalled and never looked back, went over to dota 2, glad I did, the community in that game isn't perfect, but I personally ran into much less toxic players than I did in LoL.

Moral of the story? Try playing dota 2 again, your community experience might improve.....might

Thankfully, I got used to the LoL community or simply mute. That's all.
