250 million dollars was the cost of Star Wars the Old Republic. And the player base is low as hell.

It can fail. I think alot of money was put toward the next gen development.

It has proven things can beat Halo. I love Microsoft Studio games and Bungie its Child company is shotting for the big time things may go wrong at first but i am sure they will work it out in the end. Super ready for destiny going to play Xbox 1. See you there.

The amount if money out into a game doesn't guarantee it will succeed. Joe has ripped plenty of would AAA games apart. TOR had a mind blowing budget and it came out with so many problems that it quickly became a lesson for all. It's the development team and their dedication to providing a quality, well polished product that will determine Destiny's success, not it's budget.

That being said, Bungie is a quality oriented studio and they listen to their community. I think Destiny will do a fantastic job of creating a massive fan base in the hundreds if thousands. Will it be bigger than WoW? No. Even with slipping numbers, WoW boasts over eight MILLION subscribers a month, and that's an all time low.

Now, do I think Destiny will outshine Halo? Absolutely. It's being created by the house that Halo built, and Bungie hasn't just learned from their time making Halo, they've innovated, expanded and then raised their own bar on what an online fps can be. I don't think you'll hear much about the CoD/Halo rivalry after Destiny drops because each fan base will see Destiny and have to sit back waiting for when they're games finally evolve into something that can compare with this new breed of shooter.

I believe it's just going to go like most big games with multiplayer. Lots will play at first and then the playerbase will even out with the smaller group that wants to hang on. I don't think it'll fail, but I also don't think this is a monumental achievement sort of game.

 

And I don't think it's really a fair comparison to make Destiny vs Halo. They really aren't the same kind of FPS.
