And Joe was pissed at $15/mo

So...I thought this was going to be a $14.95/mo subscription. That's one hell of a sales tax.

((For reference FFXIV's sub is $14.99; no tax or currency exchange rates))

Wrong, apparently!

Pending... VISA XXXXX****ELDRSCROL $16.00

((I ' * ' the last bit of the numbers because I felt like it))

Just covering bases. I know there's a currency exchange "tax" if you're in the USA and have an EVE Online subscription.

And I'm aware that some US States do impose a sales tax on Online Purchases. But, I too, have never encounter a sales tax on a Game Subscription.

LOL since 08 Taxes on game subscription in Texas, thank you Rick Perry.

I think the only game I havent had taxed the last few years  was cant even remember

The justification given here by the legislature was if you purchase the 29.99 time card you pay taxes

It's a more then I expected, but it's still around the same fees SWTOR and WOW charged for monthly access.

Also if I am not mistaken, you get a deal on buying more then a single month at a time (Like all other MMORPGs with a sub fee)

It's false advertisement. The game's subscription is listed at $14.99, it makes no mention of anything about taxes or currency exchanges.

FFXIV:ARR's subscription is $14.95. Guess what I get billed. Exactly $14.95.

EVE Online is the only one I pay a little more for and that's because of the currency exchange fee that my bank charges. And it's not them charging me. It's my bank. The only thing I can fault them with is not specifying there might be exchange fees.

But Zenimax is billing me $16.00, why the fuck is it $1.05 more than what is listed for the monthly sub. There's no '$14.95 from ESO then $1.05 from my bank'; it's straight up this cock-suckers taking an extra $1.05 and not telling people.

EDIT: http://www.reddit.com/r/elderscrollsonline/comments/255vt6/vat_on_eso_north_american_subscription/

Appears we're being forced to pay VAT even if we're not on the EU servers....fuck this shit.

Autsch, that sucks man .....  Zenimax Europe is in England and the VAT there are 20% like the one guy wrote on reddit. It must be something on your side of the ocean. Besides of that, it wouldn't make sense at all ^^.

Apparently,  the division of Zenimax that handles ESO is in Minnesota; which has a 6.875% online sales tax. At $14.99 that comes to $1.03 tax...

When your account runs out of Game Time, you will be automatically billed $14.99 + applicable taxes for another 30 days of game time.

--From my email confirmation upon registering and setting up the recurring sub.

Sure would have been nice of them to tell us that we'd be paying Minnesota sales tax...

Never heard of online sales tax and shouldn't that already be included in the 14.99$ and not charged on top of that. At least that is how the VAT system works here. If I see a price tag with 14.99 € i pay 14.99 € . But you are in America, maybe u can sue them if they didn't write it on the game box ;).

Nah, we just get the generic "plus applicable taxes". Because who has time to actually look up their Corporate HQ's state sales tax. :P

Annoying to know that if you pay for a full year, the tax is enough to cover one extra month. :\
