Batman

*Anime* How were you introduced to it?

36 posts in this topic

No one really introduced me to it, I just watched a lot of Cartoon Network when I was growing up and when Toonami came around and showed me what anime was, I thought it was the best damn thing since sliced bread at the time (for TV anyway)... DBZ was of course my main squeeze, but I did also love stuff like .Hack// (and especially the games), Outlaw Star, Tenchi Muyo, Rerouni Kenshin, YuYu Hakusho and others.

Then I learned about Adult Swim which I remember had anime far more regularly than they do now and there were many nights I stayed up well past bed time and was deep into Cowboy Bebop, Death Note, Ghost in the Shell, Inuyasha, Samurai Champloo, S-cry-ed, and Trigun.

Good times, good times. I can't quite pinpoint as to why, but I'm just not too into anime these days though, oddly enough.

My uncle used to watch Robotech and he showed me. I grew fond of the Veritech fighters and from there I just kept at it. I watched Gundam Wing and Dragon Ball Z like most kids in the 90's, but I've stuck with it.

I love a lot of various shows from Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, Code Geass (and R2), Fullmetal Alchemist (and Brotherhood which I liked more), Death Note, Gurren Lagann, Persona 4, Ghost in the Shell, Hellsing etc.  I don't watch too many obscure shows and I'm typically behind on the curve (I just saw Code Geass and Code Geass R2 this year), but I do enjoy a good story.  I'm looking at starting Steins;Gate soon.

Well, there was the Moomins, but I didn't think of it as an anime (I'm not sure if it technically even counts, but anyway), so what avtually introduced me to it was Inuyasha that a friend of mine watched. I think I might have seen Porco Rosso and some other movies before that, but at the time I didn't even know what "anime" was, so....

I grew up on Yu-Gi-Oh and Digimon. Then watched more here and there. I prefer reading Manga though.

I was indroduced when Dragon ball Z started airing in this country. After that, my friends suggested I watch Akira, Ghost in the Shell and Patlabor, and I moved onwards from there. :)

I was introduced to anime through Toonami. I remember coming home after school every week day and getting to watch a solid 2 hours of great anime (DBZ, Dragonball, Gundam Wing, Yu Yu Hakusho and more). It was probably the best thing that was ever on tv imo.
