The Witcher 3 delayed to May 2015

"Ever since we started working on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, we knew it would be an ambitious game. We wanted, and still aim, to give you an incredible experience, an epic adventure in a vast, completely open fantasy universe.

The sheer size and complexity of The Witcher, key features of the title, have had a decisive impact on production. Now, nearing the end of our work, we see many details that need to be corrected. When we release the most important game in our studio’s history, we must be absolutely sure that we did everything we could to limit any bugs to a level that will allow you to enjoy the game thoroughly.

With this in mind, we took another look at current workloads and what they mean for the team. Even though everyone is working at full speed, we concluded that we need another 12 weeks, so we are shifting the release date of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to May 19th, 2015.

We owe you an apology. We set the release date too hastily. It’s a hard lesson, one to take to heart for the future. We know what we want to do to make Wild Hunt one of the best RPGs you will ever play. And we continue to work hard to achieve just that. So, we apologize and ask for your trust.

Thank you for the all support you show us on a daily basis. We truly do appreciate it. It has fueled us in our passion since the start and will continue to do so."

Honestly, I'm not that disappointed. I had a lot of games in my backlog I wanted to play in the meantime anyway, and this just gives me more time to do so, as well as a little time to possibly upgrade my computer as well. I'm glad CD Projekt realizes a disappointing launch for The Witcher 3 would be a disaster for them, and are taking steps to prevent it.

But what are your thoughts?

Since it means more time improving the game, preventing as many bugs as possible and such, I am fine with it. A good thing that even other developers should do in order for their game to be as good as possible. Better to have a delayed good game that runs as good as possible than to have a year earlier released game with game breaking glitches and bugs.

The first couple months of the year was getting a bit crowded for me anyway with The Order:1886 and Dying Light so close, so I'm actually kind of happy to hear this. In fact, I want them to take as much time as they need to make the best game they can. Looking forward to it.

I have no problem with this, it's not like I'm going to run out of games to play, hopefully it leads to a more polished final product.

I'm pretty sure most people are fine with devs taking their time to finish things up. It's only investors who like rushing deadlines. Such shortsighted animals.

K this may not always be true but for most of the time it is:

Unfortunately that didn't work with Duke Nukem Forever.

On topic, I'm fine with this. I'll be out of school when this arrives.

Where did some of you get those cool awards?

Also yes, so much is coming out in March, I'm fine for a more quiet month for Witcher 3 to shine in.

This delay happens so much that I don't have anything to say anymore.

Yeah I pretty much just assume every game release date will be delayed from every company on every platform..Seems to be happening more and more lately.

That said I have witcher 2 and never even touched it yet. I got it bundled with 1, and tried 1 and...omg the battle mechanics were horribad. I heard 2 has a better system but 1 traumatized me... TRAUMATIZED!

You can give Witcher 2 a try. The combat is better than Witcher 1, but it's also a lot tougher.

Yeah, if you don't like 1, just skip to 2. It's leagues better, and you don't need to know the story of the first game to enjoy the second's (though I may recommend looking at a summary or something).

Excellent. This will give the people of the AJSA more time to play through the games from Quantic Dream several times. MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

I mean... uh... Thank God for CD Projekt Red, they died for our sins? That's something gamers say, right?

Considering the trend that a lot of games in 2014 have been released unfinished, I don't mind. Too bad, though. The original February 24 was my birthday, but now I'll have a good reason to do something else and not think "man, I should probably be playing TW3 instead of getting shit-faced. Oh well."
