The Anti-Santa

So, the reaction some people have to same sex romance in DA: Inquisition...

56 posts in this topic

When I saw Jim Sterling's parody of the comments some people have made over same sex romance options in Dragon Age, I didn't believe it was that bad.... Until I actually so some and wow... It's both sad and hilarious. I'm not gonna get into a huge thing over this, because really when it's this funny and pathetic nothing really needs to be said. But I think this song says it all. :D

Don't why people were harping on the same sex romances.

The yaoi Bull romance was the best part of the game.

I know! You'd think would learn not to be so prudish about this sort of stuff.

Well, I can't say I'm surprised. As long as homosexuality exists, so does homophobia - it's the sad truth.

So true. Here's the hilarious thing though, speaking as man who's not gay but is DEFINITELY not straight; If you have a boyfriend, you can plays games all day with that boyfriend. If you have a girlfriend, she'll complain that you play too many video games. Now that's the truth.

Originally I was pretty sad I couldn't romance Sera, cause I play dudes in RPGs. I don't wanna play women. Before you start calling me sexist or anything, I can just say that it's my personal choice.

Anyways.

After finishing the game I would've felt pretty wrong trying to romance her, because to me she was always that dumb little sister trying to be bigger than she is.

Even though I am usually into the "Don't give a fuck bout no nothing, Han-Solo roguish" attitude, I felt like BioWare took it a bit too far when writing Sera.

Also, I don't think Freddie Prince Jr. was the greatest choice for Iron Bull. I sometimes can't get over the fact that he voiced Vega in ME3 and it gives me gruesome flashbacks.

Ah, yes same sex romances.

Who cares? You don't have to do it. The option is there if you want it. I know some people are a bit worried that BioWare is trying to be "politically correct" for the sake of being "Politically correct". I mean, shit, who knows, soon we get a transgender romance probably. I mean we already had a sex scene with a TG elf in DA2, right?

Anywho, people who say gay romances in games aren't cool, yet drool over the Liara/FemShep pictures on R34..

Man, get the fuck out of here ^^

Edit: Yeah, I found this pretty accurately depicts what I meant.

Also, don't try to argue me that "uhh, asari are a single sex race. technically they dont have a gender."

Dude, they have tits and a vajayjay, voices that dont sound masculine at all, and they are capable of birthing their offspring.

I strongly support anything same sex related because it just gets dull if it's only opposite sex relations.

What do expect, people are still homophobes... I'm not gonna say why though because it would probably start a flame war, but I will say this people like that will die off eventually. Time and Time again as the ages shown that the earth isn't flat, and their are no witches to burn. It not in the slightest gonna surprise me that people will stop caring about Gay Relationship then probably move on to saying eating chocolate is a sin or something. :P

The thing is, if you want to get a certain class, you have to engage in homosexual activity... For some people this is as disturbing as the abortions in the South Park game...

I don't mind, but tell me a quest in Skyrim where you have to engage in any heterosexual activity to get game content...

Calling people homophobes doesn't work in your favor though. Please stop reffering to people you don't know as homophobes.

Oh, you know. Stuff.

But honestly, use pure simple logic.

How would they otherwise be able to birth their offspring if they don't have a vajajay.

Also, boobs because Liara Mass Effect 3 romance scene.

Yeah, but they can have off spring using female DNA.

What is this, Kip from Futurama?

How do we know that... you know... they don't have both.

How do we know that Asari just don't divide on the cellular level?

How do we know that Asari just don't have growths in their tentacle hair?

What if Asari use magic?

HOW CAN I USE LOGIC ON AN ALIEN RACE THAT ALL WE KNOW THAT HAS TENTACLES FOR HAIR, BLUE SKIN, AND CAN MATE WITH ANYTHING!?!?!?

WHAT IF THEY BARF UP EGGS!?!?!?

WHAT IF THEIR BREASTS ARE THERE JUST TO ATTRACT POSSIBLE MATES!??!?!?

What if they're just well placed hormone glands or some junk.

Who the hell knows....................

New Mexico Whiptails aren't Asari though.

It's like figuring out how many licking does it take to get to the tootsie roll center of a tootsie pop.

... and here you guys are, chomping your way through to the center.

i have nothing against same sex relationships / homosexuality in real life. if someone's gay or a lesbian i dont care, i treat them with respect like i would treat anybody, their preferences are nothing to do with me.

but that doesn't mean every game should have same sex scenes, or even sex scenes between a man and a woman, just for the sake of throwing it in there to get publicity, or more sales, because after all this is just a role playing game... why is there a need for a sex scene between anybody? we have had hundreds of RPGs from the dawn of gaming until now without any sexual cutscenes, so why all of a sudden in 2014, the year of the gamergate bullshit, that we get an RPG with sex scenes between 2 homosexuals?

beats me! like i said, i got nothing against homosexuality, but i am most certainly not going to pay money for a game that revolves even 1 part of it's storyline on pretty much 2 men boning each other up the arse. i wouldnt pay for a porn movie that has gay scenes in it, so why should i pay for a game that has it in it?

and why should some people on the internet call me a homophobic asshole just because i dont want to see it? like i said, i am fine with it, but i dont want to look at it or see it, so for that reason i dont want to play and will not play DAI.

im sure the game is great, but i do not want to play something that has gay sex in it, that's not for me.

I have no idea what you're talking about. I'm 60 hours into the game and I've never encountered any forced 'homosexual activity'. You have any details to prove this?

You do know it's 100% optional, right? If you don't want to see it so badly you don't have to, no one's forcing you to watch Iron Bull bone your male character. If you're that intent on avoiding any same sex content or anything of any kind you must avoid San Francisco like the plague.

Well it's not just 2014. It's just Bioware, rofl.

Yeah, exactly. :P

Bioware's been doing this in their games since.... for-fucking-ever. They've had romance options since Jade Empire, and sexual scenes since Mass Effect. It's just what they do.

You can even argue that if people are this creeped out about same sex romances in their games, there are more people out there who are just creeped out by the way Bioware programs them. Every single one works the exact same way. Talk to the person enough, do a quest or two for them, they reward you with sex.

Just because you don't like same sex stuff in games doesn't make you a homophobe. With that said, I just ignore those options.

Homophobics complain about same-sex relationships, gays complain when there are none. Once again, trying to be on everyone's side is impossible and quite honestly not necessary.

Idk I haven't played through it, but from what I heard, it's not '100%' optional.

What bothers me the most is that most gay characters only have "He's gay" going for them... Literary.
