Netflix is possibly working on a Zelda tv show

So I've seen this story popping up in a few different places. I guess the Wall Street Journal is claiming that Netflix is looking for writers for the show. They have an anonymous source and Nintendo and Netflix haven't confirmed anything so it's in the air if this is true or not.

Would you like to see a live action Zelda series?

I think it could be good, but it could also be really dumb.

If this is done with a quality simmilar to "The new black is orange" (or whatever the title is), I'm all for more Zelda stuff around.

Nintendo has always worked so hard for other than the occasional grunt Link has always been a silent protagonist.  The couple occasions when he did speak (The CD-i games, and the old cartoon) it was awful.  Plus I can't think of a single actor who would make a good link.  Then you run into the problem of finding a decent kid actor who could play kid link (if they so choose) and we all know how bad casting is with kids.

Now if you want to make it super campy and fun (Scott Pilgrim Vs The World) then I think it could be something special, if you try to take it too seriously it will be awful.  But I will hold my entire first judgments until I see a trailer.

Tone would definitely a difficult thing to capture. Go too campy with bad child actors and it won't turn out well. Go too serious, then it's just another "gritty" dark fantasy movie and Lord knows we have too many of those these days.

Even though I'm a big fan of the legend of Zelda series. I don't think it will be all that great because if they make Link talk then the whole tv series will feel off and if they don't include link, as in showing the life about the other characters, then probably wouldn't care enough to watch it. Hopefully you get where I'm going with this.

Yeah, silent protagonists don't translate as well onto film with other characters who speak.
