Questions on Backwards Compatibility

15 posts in this topic

So with the backwards compatibility stuff coming to us soon I have a few questions that I can't seem to find answers on, so i'm hoping some of you guys can help me here.

1.) I know we can't duplicate achievements, but can we get new ones that we haven't got on a 360 game we played? Like on my current account I played the Gears games but haven't beat them yet and want the achievements for beating them just so I know.

2.) Will the games that are coming back getting any graphical or framerate upgrade? Just curious on this one.

3.) Finally, I heard we can play with people on the 360 servers from the Xbox One. Is this true? And would be be able to party chat with say a friend on the 360?

That's really it for now, if anyone has the answers be sure to comment as i'm really curious on those three for now.

1. Probably (Actually I'm pretty sure that is a yes as I remember an article asking that very same question)

2. Maybe better support for widescreen or higher resolution tvs, but I doubt any more than that, as it would require a lot more effort for 0$ received

3. No idea

I can answer 2 and 3

The only benefit the games receive is that they are running on better hardware. Mass Effect 1 has faster load times and less texture pop-in on the xbox one

and yes you can play with others on the 360, you are literally running a 360 inside your xbox one and can do anything including party chat

I know the World of Tanks on the xbox one you are playing along side with people on the 360. I was hoping to get back to playing with my friends on this who are still on the 360, but as of yet there is no way to squad up with people on the 360 let a lone start a party with them. So with this backwards compatability coming will this also allow us to start a party with people on the 360??

As Doshka has said above it's like a 360 is inside of your Xbox One so you can play and party chat with friends on the 360 if your on the Xbox One.

I picked up "Rare Replay" yesterday and it is interesting, gives a glimpse inside backwards compatibility. After I installed all the games and started to start Perfect Dark Zero my Xbox 360 data began to sync/download. After this was done it logged me like if as I turned on and signed into my Xbox 360. When I push the dashboard button however it just took me to the Xbox One dashboard.

When I attempted to save it only allowed me to save in the "Cloud". When I attempted to play multiplayer I was able to get into a multiplayer game pretty quickly with real people. A bit laggy, though.

Yep. Looks like anyone who plays the new Gears remaster will be getting the entire Gears collection (yes, that means Judgement too) via backwards compatability. Great deal, in my opinion. The Gears triple pack with the original trilogy is still 20 dollars and Judgement still goes for about 10.

That's one hell of a deal. I may have to partake.

Saw this yesterday, though how would it work? Didn't they shut down the servers for all original xbox games for online?

In one aspect it would be easier given that the XBox One and XBox "one" (it's still a stupid name) both use x86 software architecture. If it were to happen the server question needs answering.

Not so much of a techy person so I didn't know that about the software lol and also on the thing Runex mentioned about the Gears games I also want to know if DLC we bought on last gen will carry over. No way am I spending $30 for the Gears 3 season pass for a third time lol.
