Hello,

as you may have noticed, yesterday A-Net announced that the core game will be free for everyone.
You are able to imagine that there will be a large influx of new players.
Let's show them how friendly the GW2 community, in particular the AJSA can be.
Offer new players help if needed! :)

Isnt the game free till the 1.October though?

I am not sure. To my understanding the game will free indefintely. Allthough I have to admit that I did not read all the information.

From what I understand, there's restrictions and limitations that they put in for free accounts, but they can actually reach level 80 for the whole game, but can't play the expansion unless they buy it (?). Possibly when they want to really get into the full game as a whole, they would go ahead and buy the expansion HoT and get the full game? I don't know. Based on what I understand from reading the news, they're saying that Guild Wars 2 is free and Heart of Thorns is a buy-to-play, just like how GW2 went on initially.

I don't have the exact details and whatnot, and from the few information I read up on, that's what I assume it is: GW2 = free, HoT = buy-to-play.

Correct me if I'm wrong, and I'll glean over any info I can get my eyes and hands on about this.

From what I gathered, they have the following restrictions:

- 2 character slots.

- 3 inventory slots.

- In order to partcipate in Wvw, they have to get to least lvl 60 with one character in order to prevent boting etc.

- Gems are off limits for them.

- Unless you are befriended with one gw2 player, you can only send a whisper every 30 seconds. In order to avoid gold selling adds.

There are some more restrictions. All in all, reasonable decisions imo.

Also another thing I have heard but did not confirm yet. Those "new" players are not able to use map chap but only local chat.

@Shaytaan,

Yep, those are most of what I got so far from the sources that I could get my eyes on. Limitations and restrictions that would limit them to basically playing GW2 at it's fullest and not play HoT, unless they buy the HoT expansion. But the restrictions and limitations are reasonable and agreeable when you look at it basically. Lets the new players get into GW2 at a slower pace, but still can enjoy it at its fullest.

+ it's true. new players can use the chat but not the mapchat.

And the news keeps on coming.

NCSoft is no longer publishing Guild Wars 2.  Arenanet is now in charge of both developing and publishing.

Gotta admit I never saw this coming.  But then again nobody else probably did either, including NCSoft and Arenanet.

Even players who bought the game have this restriction. This has been implimented a couple of months ago.
