50) Time Crisis

Platform: PS1

Man. Good memories with this game. The arcade game was intense at the time. Cover based shooter before third person cover based shooters like Gears of War was popular.

The PS1 has the advantage of having a second whole scenario other than the arcade game where you have to barge in to a hotel and kill everyone inside.

Damn. Those bell boys pack heat alright. I wouldn't rob this place, unless I'm a one man army.

The best part about this mode is the multiple paths you can take. Depending on your performance or things you do, you can end up in different places. What used to be a battle at a casino can become a battle at the swimming pool if you are fast enough. Really encourages replayability. Beautiful.

51) Time Crisis 2

Platform: PS2

The second game is much2 straightforward. It has the arcade game, and a new mission mode. Which are just short as hell training missions. The cool thing is if you beat these missions, you'll fight Richard, the first game's player character. And he's pretty damn deadly. I mean every shot is a dead shot with him.

52) Time Crisis 3

Platform: PS2

This game has an extra mission once again where you play as the girl that helps you along the way in the normal mode. She has her own story, and sniping missions. Like these:

Man I fucking love the arcade time crysis (2 or 3 I forgot), even though I could not ever go past level 2.

Game: Alan Wake's American Nightmare

Platform: PC

Game Time: 3.5 hours

Comparisons to the original aside, this game was an enjoyable little action/horror adventure. It did have its annoying moments, though, but luckily they didn't abound to the same degree.

Rating: 4/5 stars

Completed: GrimGrimoire
Platform: PS2

Colorful well drawn characters, units, and backgrounds. Entertaining story with interesting characters. Unique RTS style gameplay that has you summoning units and creating structures for defense, summons, or to gain resources used for summons and upgrades. Map design is done in a castle style with stairs leading to upper and lower levels. Units have strengths, weakness, abilities, and modes of travel giving units a rock paper scissors feel when it comes to strategy. A lot of micromanagement, some of the battles can become tedious, while the size of the maps and placement of things can change the area always looks the same. There are a lot of challenge levels separate from the story, some that require you to play a certain way or to take advantage of certain abilities.

Completed: Top Hunter: Roddy & Cathy
Platform: Neo Geo

An SNK action sidescroller that feels more like a Treasure game. Characters can punch enemies but their limbs can also stretch to grab enemies or levers. Mechs can be found and piloted. Special moves can be done by quickly attacking or doing Street Fighter style button inputs. There are two planes to jump between that can help dodge attack. Stage end boss fights are all entertaining and varied. There are four different kinds of planets to choose from with two stages each before the final level.

Completed: Last Days of Spring
Platform: PC

A very short visual novel that focuses on a more realistic situation, with realistic characters, drawn in a way that isn't typical of most visual novels by not being exaggerated for fan service, action, or comedic effect. Story about graduating high school students decided on their future while dealing with societal and parental expectations. Your character wonders what to do with her life now that she doesn't have teachers giving her assignments, your friend has spent her life devoted to pursuing a career in music like her family, another girl dealing with her attraction to women and preferring to meet people and experience things instead of focusing on school, a guy who is looking to pursue a career in cooking instead of following expectations to go to college and who is upset that the soccer team he was Captain of fell apart once everyone who was only their for electives left him, etc.

Music is nice. All five endings can be reached by changing final choice. Often reused backgrounds are boring photographs that don't mesh well with the character art. Some grammar errors. You get to make some choices during the game but most either don't matter or doing one thing will just lead to additional scenes. The game is so short that you don't spend much time with the characters.

Completed: Divine Slice of Life
Platform: PC

Visual novel about some loser, who is the reincarnation of Zeus, that meets two demi-gods who want to marry him. Steam version needs adult content patched in. Has voice acting, some very poor, except for the main character who is faceless and voiceless, because I want to imagine myself as him. Voices can be to quiet to hear over music. Short, poor story, poor character art, uninteresting background art, uninteresting characters that you spend next to no time with due to the length, choices lead to unexpected ends, lazy boring sex scenes. Reuses images and doesn't even have images for all endings. Pointless for everyone.

3 of These games I played recently are more like torture than playing a fun game. 54 more so than the others.

54) 12 is better than 6.

Platform: PC

Fuck this game. It's trying to be Hotline Miami + Red Dead Redemption, but all this game become is a mixture of the worst part of Hotline Miami + the story of that godawful movie Fantastic Four from this year. Enemies that blends in with the background making them tough to spot before you are dead, UNLIKEABLE asshole of a main character that you just want to see fucking killed, and a story that's extremely rushed, and with an out of nowhere ending leaving everything unresolved. I never want to see this fucking game ever again!

55) Strania: the Stella Machina

Platform: PC

Interesting fact about this game. I was actually really looking forward to play this game on my Xbox 360 when it was released back in 2011. Then my Xbox got red ringed. Bye2 game. On the bright side, I downloaded the fantastic soundtrack, like this.

Flash forward now, this game got released out of freaking nowhere on Steam, so hell, I immediately played it. Good thing is this game comes packaged with the DLC Side Vower where you play as the enemy, so there's 2 parts to this game. And it's fucking hardcore balls to the walls hard. There is an option in this game that lets you play using full on 9 lives and 3 continues at the start, and I still die on the 3rd level out of 6. It's a bullet hell shooter with ridiculous enemy patterns. I swear, you will die the first 3 times playing this game. I finally beat the game because I memorized the enemy patterns, only to be defeated by the final boss because I didn't know that the final boss will kill you no matter how many continues you have left, and then I beat the boss after replaying the game again.

And that's just part 1 out of 2. The second part is 2 times harder. Even when I played it with full lives and 5 continues, I still die, whereas in part 1, I can beat it with only 2 continues!

56) Missing: an interactive thriller: episode 1

Platform: PC

It's one of those episodic games. But fortunately, this game has an interesting format. It's basically a live action movie, but with point and click puzzles, and QTEs to accompany the live action segment.

Only part 1 is available, and only $1.35 now because of the discount. Other parts coming soon. HATE it when that happens. I want the next part now!

57) Spelunky

Platform: PC

AHAHHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I FINALLY BEAT THIS FUCKING GAME!! After dying over and over and over and over and over and over again! SUCK IT GAME!

Found out I beat GTA: Vice City on 9/11 so that's in the time limit

Game: GTA: Vice City

When: 11/09/2015

Game was actually pretty fun. At least it didn't have that sickening motion blur the ps2 version has. Shooting in this game is more complicated than in GTA SA because the bullets have this weird spray so you actually have to aim a lil bit to the right and down (so top left corner of the crosshair) because that's where the bullets go.

Driving is bad in the sense that unlike SA you can't actually turn the camera to see where you are going. I guess most racing games have this kind of thing, but this isn't a racing games and there are incoming cars who don't care if I'M WALKIN HERE!

Game: Lovely Planet

When: 28/11/15

Wow my wrist hurts. This game made me feel like those asians playing CS:GO. Some levels were so hard I just wanted to give up. One of them forced me to go from 30 to 100 on mouse sensivity. I think it's a great game, despite it's way too simplistic look.

Completed: Momodora III
Platform: PC
Time: 45 Minutes

2D sidescroller. Nice art. You can buy or collect items and can equip up to three of them for your character to gain bonus passive effects or to strengthen your attacks, but these are never anything that interesting. Killing enemies has them drop whatever it is the game uses for currency, I never ended up spending anything as you can only equip three items and I found four useful things by just going through the game normally. Final levels have nice music. The game is short and very easy on the default difficulty setting, many of the bosses can be defeated just by standing next to and hitting them, even easier if you get a powerup for your main attack (at least when playing as Dora). Some enemies can instant kill you which will likely be your only deaths.

Not great but as part of a cheap bundle where the cards got me over a 1/3 of the price back I can't complain.

Completed: World of Warships
Platform: PC

Multiplayer 12 vs 12 or co-op ship battle game. Same style as World of Tanks or World of Warplanes. It's a fun game, I need to get my new computer so I don't have to play with all the graphics settings on low. I've been focusing on gaining the Japanese ships which seem to be better with torpedoes and concealment than the American ships, usually smaller and faster to from what I've seen. They have some Russian and German ships but only of one type so far.

Game: The Fall
Platform: PC

Short action adventure game about an AI in a combat suit trying to save the unconscious human inside by taking control of the suit and adapting its programming to try to find ways to access its locked functions, breaking the rules by following them. Good use of puzzle solving by having limitation based on programming rather than the usual problem of the person you are controlling just being incompetent. Good atmosphere. Part of a trilogy but the game could have felt like a complete experience on its own. Another good Kickstarter game. Ending is kind of obvious to see coming.

Game: Aero Fighters 2 (aka Sonic Wings 2)
Platform: Neo Geo

A shoot em up game. The series started to become more comical with this entry, even featuring a baby and a dolphin as playable characters. Features eight characters, characters have unique planes, weapons, endings, and they talk to each other between the games 10 missions depending on who has been selected. Nothing that interesting about the gameplay or music but it does have some amusing enemy designs and some nice looking locations for the time, it's a fun game though and having different characters when playing two players (or lone character in one player) saying unique lines is amusing.

Game: Aero Fighters 3 (aka Sonic Wings 3)
Platform: Neo Geo

The game features 12 characters, two being secret. Like the first game, you are required to play characters in pairs when you choose to play two players. The game has 15 levels but you only play through eight of them, levels change based on what wing you blow off of an escaping plane in certain levels and based on how well you are doing. Some characters have gained a charge attack. Graphics are similar to the last with some amusing bosses and enemies. Retains the humor of the second game. Stages are short, annoying boss music.

Game: Murder Miners
Platform: PC

An online multiplayer and co-op game that is like a cross between Halo and Minecraft. A fun game but there didn't seem to be many people on and a lot of the game modes had no one playing them.

Game: Murder
Platform: PC

A point and click game where you will be clicking on "hotspot" areas to progress the story and optional spots to get more information or to talk to people. The game has poor voice acting, nothing particularly awful but much of it sounds like characters are just reading the script. The character models aren't the most detailed and movement can look strange, I have seen better pixel art but they are alright and the backgrounds and world looks good with some nice details in the few areas you go to. The idea behind the story has been done multiple times and has become a cyberpunk trope, and it has been done much better. How quickly the story ends makes the cliches aspects and characters even worse. There is only an idea for a story here, no themes are really explored, nothing is known about the characters, this would have been a short prologue in a normal game or movie, the plot that was given would be the game summary description on the back of the box of a normal product.

But what if you don't?

I will.  I just finished Golems of Amgarrak, and I already played the main game, Leliana's Song, Darkspawn Chronicles, and Awakening.  All that's left is Witch Hunt.  There is literally no way I can't finish it within a week, armageddon notwithstanding of course.

Game: Shutter
Platform: PC

A "horror" adventure game. You take control of a small robot while attempting to complete objectives sent to you by email from another man, Berry. The game uses fixed camera angles as a callback to older horror games, but also allows you to switch to a first person view in order to take the necessary photographs that you need to complete the game. Very short at about 20 minutes, there is nothing interesting about the story, and was designed for let's players to play while screaming at jump scares (that I would barely even qualify as jump scares most of the time).

Game: Cyto
Platform: PC

A drag and fling game where you attempt to collect up to three "memories" in each level before getting to the exit. Unlocking a certain number of memories will show you the game's story with a small piece of artwork and some text. New obstacles and ways to interact with things is presented as levels go on. Cute graphics. Leaves trail to show the angles you have tried in the past, makes the game more enjoyable Not really anything impressive or interesting about the game but not bad for what it is.

58) Dr. Langeskov, The Tiger, and The Terribly Cursed Emerald: A Whirlwind Heist

Platform: PC

8hPPuY.jpg

Um yeah. This is.... a game. From the same dev as Stanley Parable. PLAY IT! IT'S FREE! And don't forget to get the tape recorder and listen to the tapes. They are hillarious.

59) Monument Valley

Platform: iPhone

Fantastic game. If you are familiar with the concept of fucking up reality with perspectives, nah I don't think you are. Basically it's kind of like this game.

I cannot describe the brilliant way the puzzles in this game is played. It really has to be played for yourself. And the artstyle of the game is..... well.....

monumentvalley_gdc_long.png

awww, look at that. Soo CUTE!

Anyway, moving on.

60) Yamgun

Platform: iPhone

This game is not good.

61) Top Tank

Platform: iPhone

This game is fun and really addicting. The concept is simple. You're a tank, and using the right position of firing your shells, you shoot at another tank. That's it. us-iphone-4-top-tank.jpeg

62) Mage Gauntlet

Platform: iPhone

A very good Link to the Past esque action RPG game. Unfortunately it ends on a cliffhanger! And now I'm waiting for it's sequel. Hate it when games do that.

These ones are back to on rails shooters because I fucking love these a lot.

63) Crisis Zone

Platform: PS2

Back to playing on rails shooting again. Love this genre. This is a spin off of Time Crisis, only instead of using pistols, here you use machine guns. And the PS2 has an extra campaign compared to the arcade version. Which is awesome!

64) Vampire Night

Platform: PS2

House of the Dead, but with vampires!

And it also has special missions. Annoyingly, these special missions requires you to do specific things and go to specific areas during the main game. So you have to beat the entire game over and over and over again just to complete 1 mission. But you get rewards like more powerful bullets and such, so that's ok.

65) House of the Dead 1

Platform: PC

Ah, still love this game. The arcade game used to scare the crap out of me. Now? Not at all. Still fun now!

66) House of the Dead 2

Platform: PC

Even more ridiculous than the first game because of the horrendous voice acting, and it's great because of it. I replayed this game over and over for the special modes because I get to use magnum rounds that kills enemies in one hit, and bosses much quicker!

67) House of the Dead 3

Platform: PC

This game doesn't have special modes like 2, which is a real damn shame. Still a good game, and you use shotguns, which oddly enough is just as powerful as the pistols in the previous game. Go figure.

68) Silent Scope 2

Platform: PS2

Just like Silent Scope 1. But with 2 characters and they are both entirely different. I like to play as the Jackal rather than Falcon simply because his missions are much more direct face to face than frustratingly long range. Mission 2 on the snow is the worst with Falcon. Guh.

I have no idea how this guy managed to shoot the boss in 1 shot. I have to kill him by shooting his body and arm most of the time because he never stops moving.

69) Silent Scope EX

Platform: PS2

A much simpler, shorter, but harder game than the other 2. In here, your life bar decreases all the time beause it's linked with a timer, and you have to restore it by headshooting people and looking at hot chicks. The final boss in this game looks........ CREEPY AS FUCK.

maxresdefault.jpg

ARGH!!! STAY AWAY FROM MEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

70) Silent Scope 3

Platform: PS2 & Xbox

maxresdefault.jpg

Similar health bar with EX, but your health doesn't decrease this time. Thank God. This is exclusive for PS2 and Xbox, so there's no arcade based on this. And if you die in 1 mission, you have to repeat the mission all over again. This is the final game in the series, and I am looking forward for the sequel. Unfortunately, this is a konami game. And konami is now a piece of shit. So there won't be anymore sequel to this game. Fuck you konami.

Game: Undertale

I think I beat this amazing game. I mean I don't know, the game doesn't stop now does it? But I saw an ending, so I guess I technically did beat it.

I know right? It's my game of the year after all.

The great thing about this game is the game ends, if you want it to end. And of course the Pacifist run is the true ending. But if you are a heartless piece of shit, you can continue playing and go for the absolute worst ending of the game, and if you do, not only did you just erase the happy ending of the best true ending of the game, you can never get that best ending anymore, unless you delete your save file. But that's blood on your hands.

Alright, back to completion.

71) Fran Bow

Platform: PC

A classic point and click game about a girl taking pills to go to some fucked up dream world. Or is it? The ending does make it more clear if the events taking place in this game is real or not, but it's never truly revealed outright. It's open to a lot of guessings. Like Black Ops 3's ending.

72) Akiba's Trip

Platform: PC

A game where you take away people's clothes, or in this case, vampires. And it's surprisingly fun as hell. So much so that I stopped playing Assassin's Creed Syndicate and Fallout 4 to play this game. Now I'm going to play those 2 games again!

Oh God, did I really just say I like a game about stripping people's clothes off?

I went sort of Pacifist until the end where I couldn't resist smashing that stupid flower. Switched computers, found out Steam cloud doesn't save the game to the account...? Now I have to play it again. And I hurt some people. (but not all I'm well aware of the consequences)

Game: Three Dead Zed
Platform: PC

A platformer puzzle game where you take control of a zombie with the ability to change between three forms as he attempts to escape a research facility while being asked to rescue tinfoil hat wearing cats by a mysterious man. The normal zombie form has a small jump, a weak attack, and can be used to push buttons and climb ladder. A form that moves on four legs that is the fastest moving, can jump the furthest, and can wall jump but takes the most damage and can not attack. The final form is a large zombies with a powerful attack, and the ability to break through obstacles and lift large objects but with a weak jump and very slow speed. You will need to use these three forms correctly to survive saw blades, human and robot enemies, spikes, lasers, and traps that can smash you. Many of the stages have a hidden voiced log that you can listen to to hear more of the story. The story is amusing, as is the art style. The controls feel a bit off and the game ends up just not being that fun as it goes on though.

Game: Hostile Waters: Antaeus Rising
Platform: PC

"In the year 2012 the Earth was hit by the last thing it was expecting, sanity."

A mix between a 3rd person vehicle combat game and an RTS. You scavenge for parts then use them to build ground and air units that you can customize further with additional equipment, armor, etc. Once the vehicle is complete you can either control them yourself or have the AI do it, each craft is assigned one of ten AI profiles, each with a unique voice, lines, and things they are good at. You can monitor their health and they relay their situation to you. The plot and voice acting is entertaining, as is the chatter between the pilots, though they do tend to start talking over each other. Combat is pretty basic and the game and visuals are obviously dated but it is still fun and unique.
