Rocket League Coming to Xbox One

17 posts in this topic

This year Rocket League showed the world just how amazing soccer with cars can be, and soon Xbox fans will finally be able to see what the fuss is about. The game — which is currently available on PS4 and PC — is coming to Microsoft's console in February, developer Psyonix announced at 2015 "Game Awards".

Looking forward to this game. Can't wait to experience it.

I know that Sony are open to the idea, but Microsoft want nothing to do with cross-platform multiplayer........which is a shame.

It's happening with the XB1 and PC (soon), but it's a real pain that cross console is such a problem for them. And because Rocker League is already cross compatible with the PS4 and PC, any cross platform play with xbox would have to include both. So, very sadly, I don't see it happening.

C'mon Microsoft! You know you want to!

Developer Psyonix has confirmed via Twitter that the upcoming Xbox One version of Rocket League will not feature cross-platform play. Unlike PC and PS4 Rocket League players, Xbox One players will be only able to play against other Xbox One players.

It should be noted that while Psyonix explains that the “Xbox platform doesn’t allow for crossplay”, there are several games available on Xbox One that feature some form of cross-platform play with PC, including #IDARB. It was also announced that Microsoft’s own Fable Legends will have cross-platform multiplayer between Xbox One and PCs running Windows 10 back in January this year.

I had a feeling that this would happen, such a shame that Microsoft aren't open to cross-platform multiplayer.

I could see them not wanting to cross platform with a competitor (Sony) but Microsoft makes XBox and Windows... Plus, they have been moving Xbox's operating system towards Windows 10, so if it's pretty much the same operating system why wouldn't you allow ppl to play together? I don't get it.

They've always had a very closed policy at XBox when it comes to cross platform,  Microsoft insist that all multiplayer games on the platform use their servers which makes cross play between PC and especially PS4 impossible. It's why many FTP and MMO type games like WarThunder and FFXIV ARR that are cross platform on PS4 and PC aren't available on XBox One since they would rather use their own servers and have control over monetization themselves in one place rather than jump through Microsoft's loops.  It's also the same reason why these games don't require PS+ on PS4 since they don't use Sony's servers.

It's a very weird and backwards policy that Devs and Publishers have been complaining about for years, now cross play is going to become available for Windows 10 PC's but as far as I can tell this will still be subject to the same policy of using Xbox servers so It's ultimately not gonna help very much.  If they had any common sense they would just scrap this policy outright.

I was looking for info about the game, and came across an article saying all the current DLC and updates that are on PS4 and PC will be bundled in the game for Xbox One, and it will still be the original price of $19.99

A release date for Rocket League on Xbox One is "imminent"

http://www.product-reviews.net/2016/01/19/rocket-league-xbox-one-release-date-imminent/

Rocket League Season 1 is coming to an end ‘early February‘, so we have a feeling that Xbox owners will be able to play the game to coincide with the rollout of Season 2. Remember that the Xbox version will also come packaged with the Supersonic Fury, Revenge of the Battle-Cars, and Chaos Run content packs at no extra cost – the Back to the Future DLC is also available to buy at launch.
