Anyone game with their parents? Advice?

12 posts in this topic

So, I'm still on Xbox 360 but I'll be buying new gen soon and I'm thinking about buying one for my mum too.

I would LOVE to play Xbox Live with my mum, it would be so funny because she's not the typical 'gamer parent'. In fact, you would never guess she played games to look at her.

The only thing is that she is 56 and the games she plays are stuff like; the Zelda games (all of them), Rune Factory, Mario Galaxy and the Harry Potter Lego games etc...

I REALLY want to get her into playing rpg's. I would love to play DA: Inquisition with her on Xbox Live! Omg.

Stuff like that.

But how could I possibly get her into this type of in-depth gaming?

I tried to get her to play Kingdoms of Amalur but the first level was pretty dark and she didn't like it.

I will seriously LOVE forever anyone who will help me with this. This is a real-life quest and I am recriting advisers! Haha

Btw, I'm pretty drunk rn so sorry if I have spelling errors or this doesn't make sense. Yep.

Start with less in depth rpg's.  The last thing you want to do is overwhelm someone with micromanaging loot, min/maxing skills and abilities, and requiring grinding or a lot of side quests to level up enough to progress through the story.

Maybe start with some Tell-Tale games (I absolutely loved Wolf Among Us) for story emphasis, then move on to more action RPG's like the Mass Effect trilogy to get the rpg feet wet, then into your more in depth RPG's like dragon age.  I don't have any real experience with this so I could be totally wrong as everyone has different game preferences.   I'm just making assumptions

You're probably right. I might try her with Fable first. I've not heard of 'Wolf Among Us'! I'll go look it up now! Thanks! ✨

Dark Souls

Nah, I'm only kidding. Chumbry is wise me thinks here. Dragons Dogma might not be a bad choice either.

Fable is deff the way to brake her in. It's simple and teaches basics of what you want to eventually go into. Also Eso would would be the next step after that. These are both on Xbox One. Neverwinter is also another simple after Fable

Hopefully one day I can game while one of my children, I don't have any yet...but if/when I do have them they will be trained in the art of gaming, and they will be made to play with their old man.
