[ENDED] May Community Challenge - Tomato, Tamahto, DOOM?

30 posts in this topic

May has come! With it a sh#t load of games (For some strange reason or another). Three of the big stand outs are Battleborn, Overwatch, and Doom. All first person shooter games, all different in their own unique way. Battleborn more of a moba, Overwatch more of a hero shooter, and DOOM trying to be old school (But not? I don’t know it’s confusing). This three games however are your battlegrounds for this month's challenge. Perform great feats during your combat in each of these games, record them and showcase them to the rest of the AJSA. Stand out among the rest and become this month’s Community Challenge Champion!

Objective: Record and post a video clip/clips of you performing great feats (Killing sprees, Play of the game, Clutch save, etc) within any or all of the three game’s multiplayer; Battleborn, Overwatch, and/or DOOM (Overwatch Open Beta footage counts).

Z8GvI8RLXH84h1qT4iqx9xcYmzuF8BYSrBZCPxwA

  • Enter your video clip/clips here
  • Enter your video clip/clips before 5/30/16
  • The video clips must be of you performing great feats (Killing sprees, Play of the game, Clutch save, etc) within any or all of the three game’s multiplayer; Battleborn, Overwatch, and/or DOOM (Overwatch Open Beta footage counts).
  • That’s it… ya, nothing else… so… get at it!

Here's a few clips I put together of my brief time in the Overwatch beta with my three favorite characters so far (do really like Mercy from the one time I played her), mostly from best play highlights. I wasn't recording full matches while playing so no 15-25 kill streaks with Widowmaker but that would get boring anyway.

I can say I was definitely having fun playing Overwatch and even more happy I was recording everything at the time. It is the first game I can say I actually intend to play competitively with. I recorded each day I went through for the Beta and can say I had a pretty good last day with a few hitches here and there. Especially my last match. Finally received that play of the game. I never count it with Bastion, but I'm a fan of Soldier 76.

Very nice gameplay there guys! :D

Haha, I always find Soldier 76 fun to watch when someone plays him, but when I play him I get bored. I need to start playing him more when I buy the game.

OW will be also my first FPS after a few year break now from FPS that I will be playing competitively.

I'm so glad to see so many people liking the game.

EDIT:

For some reason I actually thought this was the Overwatch thread lmao

I'm hoping to see plenty of people from the forum in the competitive branch of the game. I like the fact that we can actually create a team and go into the competitive matches. At least from what I've watched. Depending on the number of individuals you go in with you will either be placed on a team or single players will be placed on yours if you have openings.

This will probably be the first game I have commentary in as well. I definitely need to make use of letting individuals now the biz because I had too many moments where I would be the only one trying to get the objective done and having successfully slipped past the opposite team. I'm talking about I'm the only guy over there looking down at 4 people holding the point and wondering where the rest of my team is. I think most hilarious one was when a single Reinhardt was guarding the point and it was just me with my Soldier 76. I was like "well this isn't going to work." Needless to say I regret not just storming the point anyway instead of waiting for my teammates to make it through because they were seriously locked down by the other team.

Here's a video I did during the Overwatch Beta:

Got the Play of the game it it at the 12 minute mark: https://youtu.be/VpPVDHG_2CA?t=12m4s

Also has some killstreaks as Genji in it too.

Nice. So which character do you feel you work the best with?

I have to say I've had the most trouble going up against Genji, Reindhart, and Mei. Mei is definitely my mortal enemy. That cursed freezing.

I haven't really played much, just the Beta. And I think I did best as Genji. I also like Reindhart, but find that he's incredibly slow, which I know is a design choice. I wanna try Roadhog too. In the above video, there's also a part where I try and fail miserably as Widowmaker. I wanna get better with her too, but I'm a terrible sniper. Good thing she has an automatic mode for her gun.

I have it installed on my laptop, but haven't played it at all yet, because I'm still doing my Dark Souls 3 series, and haven't had much time for anything else. I'm just hoping I don't have the connection problems I was getting on PC during the beta.

Lol. I died horribly with Widow. That was when I tried that mode that pretty much had you start off with random characters every time you did. Not a fan of that one. I attempted Lucio and I can be a good support with him, not so much with killing, but that's pretty much the point with him.

In my case I'm just playing a little bit a day since I have so much work to do. I'm going to try and see if I can do 5 levels a night, but of course the more you level the longer it takes. There is also the matter of how well you do in the matches to consider. I did well in the Beta, but I had a horrible restart playing again. It felt like it was my first day all over. Lol. Didn't take me long to get back into the swing of things, but I still have a long way to go.

My main issue thus far seems to being the main flanker, but its also worked out in my favor. I disrupted the enemy teams concentration because they were all fighting my team and keeping them from leaving the barracks and I had managed to slip past them and when I was sure all the enemy was on the other end I dropped down and starting claiming it. Thankfully and unfortunately it sent all the enemy team running to me, but after they killed me my team was able to tank the point. Sometimes its about the sacrifice x_x.

Yeah, I did decent in the Beta too, but I played that on the PS4, and I have the full release on the PC so I'm expecting to be curb stomped to some extent since I'm not too good at competitive games.

You'll be fine. Play anything long enough and you'll get good at it. If you can suffer through Dark Souls you can suffer through anything.

Anything but Nioh hehehe.

Anyway, was finally able to play a little a while ago. Got two full games. I did well with Junkrat, D.Va and maybe a bit of Bastion. Torbjorn I can get a little more practice on.

I actually got a killstreak of 6 with Junkrat in the first game, and wish I recorded it. Didn't get the play of the game for that though since they weren't multi-kills hehe.

I can say I was getting destroyed by Mei's tonight. That freezing.

>:3 Good you found some possibles to work with. Once you get a good rhythm for a character it comes down to working them  to find out what advantages and disadvantages they have against certain other characters. Something I often forget at times when I'm in the moment.''

I fear the day I come across a team pushing nothing but Reindharts, just thinking of taking those impregnable walls during an escort mission... actually I would probably have fun with attempting that. Lol.

I'm mostly thankful that I haven't been experiencing any of the connection problems I was getting on the PC version during the beta. Two full games, compared to not even being able to finish the tutorial without getting disconnected.

I've had connection issues twice, but thankfully after I was playing for a long period of time. Server would crash on whomwever was playing, but its been a rare occurrence for the most part.

Well, I got no kill streak or anything epic, but I did play some Mercy because I was forced to play support like 2-3 games in row. Everyone was playing random shit that they felt like and nobody wanted to support.

Honestly it's not the best Mercy game, but I had to play her and I think I did pretty well and healed everyone that needed it in order to win us the game. We had no supports at all sadly. Anyway, I did this as a test just to test my PC if it can handle and while I do get 70FPS in the game, but when I record with FRAPS for some reason, I get HUGE perfomance drop every few minutes and you will notice it in the video.

Overwatch is a game where you have to adapt your heroes and gamestyle if you wanna win and I hate to play 2-3 same heroes in the team

Btw FRAPS sucks...lol. I think it needs a beast PC  to run well

Mercy saves lives. I have to say I always try to take her out because she can bring the team victory with not only healing, but that rez.

Yeah, I actually have a lot of fun with her even tho I don't enjoy playing support classes in games. I do enjoy agressive supports that can do damage but for a healer, Mercy is very fun and I like it. I don't play her unless I have to, but I always pick her. I also love Symmetra but I don't know, she doesn't feel too viable. It's like she is good only in defense mostly.

I like Soldier 76 for the balance. I can't heal like Mercy, but I can give support not just by dropping a heal for the entire team at holding points, but also being able to move quickly.

Causing distractions for the enemy team is one thing few people take advantage of. Like if the enemy team is holding the line and I take their defense point, its just me there. They all come running. I may die, but that just opened my team to get past the choke point.

Hm, Reaper, Widowmaker, Pharah. I suppose Soldier 47 is actually AMONG my favorites because I do play him often when I have to play offense. Mostly him or Reaper.

Its not healthy, but for some reason I have sniping battles with Widowmaker. Naturally she kills me the most, but its satisfying when I win. Especially when I happen upon her carefully picking her targets and land a helix rocket to her side.

Pharah I can say I have a tough time taking care of when she's in the air and reaper only gets me when he teleports. Catches me off guard too many times.
