Thinking about Reinstalling

6 posts in this topic

I haven't played Dota 2 in a few years, and I was going to reinstall, but I saw a bunch of posts about how toxic the community has become.  Should I even bother reinstalling, or should I just stick with HotS/Smite/Paragon?

After every major I reinstall DotA 2, play a few games, and promptly uninstall. The matches just move too slow for me.

It's definitely less cancer than Heroes of Newerth, and requires more skill than Smite or League.

As an ex-League player after 3 years, as a ex-CS:S player for 5 years, as an ex-CS 1.6 player for like almost 7 years before CS:S came out and many other less competitive games, you just gotta deal with toxicity. Competitive titles are a nesting for toxicity.

MOBA are currently the most competitive genre out there and all got toxic communities and you can't avoid it. I haven't played DOTA 2 for long, but 20h gave me a good enough view to say that it's toxic as any other MOBA game. The only 2 mobas I saw less toxic players than LoL or DOTA 2 is HOTS and SMITE.

You should play it if you feel like playing it and just mute the toxic players if you can or play with friends. Really depends how you wanna play, if you wanna play to rank up then you gotta put in time and just deal with toxic players every time. If you wanna play casually for fun, just play it with a group of friends to make it more entertaining.

If you like the game, just play it. I also quit League, but I quit the ranked since it takes too much time and I like to play more games than focusing on just one or 2, but I play League from time to time and when I really feel like it, I play a few games and rank up a few ranks tho that's hard after missing out several patches in row and not being in flow with the game. So hell, if you wanna play DOTA 2 then go for it, but don't worry too much about toxic people because I'm sure they will be there. Don't let that ruin your game for ya'
