What is there to dislike about Uplay?

I've heard that a lot of people say that Uplay sucks but I don't know how it does, can any of you tell me what are the faults of Uplay?

In all honesty there is nothing really wrong with it right now, it's been fixed from back in the day.  I have actually had a much more reliable experience with UPlay both online and offline than Origin, Steam or even GOG.  The biggest Issue I've had was some bonus UPlay points that I was entitled to not being added to my account and that was sorted within a day.

I know this thread is going to be flooded with horror stories from 2-3+ years ago but from my experience as someone who only got back into PC gaming more recent that, UPlay is fine.

Mostly comes down to having to have an additional unnecessary storefront/game launcher in the background complete with it's own username/password/authentication, it ends up being even more pointless than other ones because you can typically buy all the games on Steam but then need to launch them through both applications.

I've never had any problems with Uplay, and in fact I preferred it to Steam when it comes to Ubisoft games because of the free stuff, like Gamestop preorder bonuses being redeemable for Uplay points.

I never got over the horror stories from 2-3 years ago.  Not being able to launch games, getting kicked out (of single player games!) if their servers went down for a second, people crying rootkit, etc.

Also, I thought this was funny, taken from the wiki:

The always-on requirement was quietly lifted for existing Uplay games towards the end of 2010, being changed to a single validation on game launch.[9]However, the always-on requirement made a return in 2011 with the releases of Driver: San Francisco[10]and From Dust, the latter having been explicitly stated by Ubisoft prior to release to only require a one-time online activation on install.[11] From Dust was later patched to remove the always-on requirement.[12]

In September 2012 Ubisoft employees confirmed in an interview that no further Ubisoft games would be using the always-on requirement, instead opting for a one-time activation of the game on install. HoweverThe Crew required the player to be always online in order to play.[13]

Let me put it this way, what is good about Uplay? I have (to) installed Uplay in my computer only because the free (ubisuck) games are need to use them or the (ubisuck) games I buy from Steam need to use uplay. Steam client simply has MUCH more features than Uplay. (example: I can see which game my friend is playing in Steam try to join to that exact game and I cannot do that in Uplay). Also Uplay store suck so much compare to Steam and even Origin. Uplay Shop always sell their own games at the most EXPENSIVE prices. Again, tell me what is good about Uplay? :corpcom:

And in terms of game client and network stability, I don't see Uplay are really better than Steam. It is as stable as Steam at most. Remember Steam host 234762x more games and software than Uplay. Even people doesn't know anything about programming and network stability should know which client/network is much more complicated. Uplay basically just take care their OWN (paid beta or unfinished retail) products. And NONE of their games are having a constant player base as large as CS:GO, DOTA2, TF2, GTA5... There is NO EXCUSE for them not to do their job better than Steam. Tell me how many non-Ubisuck game you have in your Uplay?

You guys think Uplay is good (for me it is only an ok) because it is not our primary game client. It is probably no even your secondary game client. Try uninstall Steam and don't ever install it again and come back to tell us how great Uplay is? That will be your true answer to OP's question.

I had problems launching Rayman Legends when I didn't have UPlay open in advance. And sometimes when I did.

This, as if I need to have both Steam AND Uplay running and taking extra resources that should be used for the game instead.

From my experience that I've had a year ago, Uplay is pretty bad, but I can't comment on how it is now, but I'm not a fan of any of those platforms, including Steam. I always do my best to buy games if  they are available as GOG or don't need Steam. Even tho most of those platforms have offline features, I still prefer to play games without having to login into any account unless I have to. If it's an online game, then I prefer to get a Steam version for easier access to friends and crap

Tbh all of them have issues. Even tho Steam is the best, it also has the most bugs and shittiest customer support of them ALL! Sometimes I would wait weeks for a simple reply or can't login to Steam for no reason and literally gotta wait hours sometimes or reinstall to get it working. Steam might be the best but it's also the buggiest of all I've used.
