"Fan-made Star Wars Battlefront successor blocked by EA, LucasFilm"

“On Wednesday June 22, 2016, we received a letter from Lucasfilm requesting that we halt production of Galaxy in Turmoil with any Star Wars related IP at once,” says Romanelli. “Rather than laying down at the first sign of trouble, I requested a meeting with the Lucasfilm executives to discuss our project and to find some common ground to work with. Honestly, I didn’t expect too much negotiation to occur. But much to my surprise, executives at the top of Lucasfilm agreed to meet. A week later, that meeting took place.”

Romanelli explains that although LucasFilm were “open to the idea” of working out a Star Wars-related license deal with Frontwire, its contract with EA does not allow it. He says that the latter’s concern lay with the possibility of Galaxy in Turmoil “taking away attention from their Battlefront franchise.” He in turn suggested the idea of putting Galaxy in Turmoil behind EA’s paywall, but this was also rejected.

Well, guess who's fault it is again...

In-fuckin-credible, ''take away interest in the Battlefront franchise'' you know you'd think executives would have at least half a brain to realize gamers aren't a mutually exclusive crowd. A person can play both Battlefront and Galaxy in Turmoil, sure EA's Battlefront is garbage but It's proven time and time again damn It.

What the fuck is next? Stop selling older Star Wars games because they might ''take away interest in the Battlefront franchise''? Or or maybe they should start suing any FPS game because other FPS games can ''take away interest in the Battlefront franchise''?

The biggest deterrent of interest in that franchise is EA and what a pile of old, smelly shit they are. If this goes through and Galaxy of Turmoil is NOT released or If EA profits from It, I'm NEVER buying ANYTHING from EA again, I don't care about Mass Effect and BioWare.

Seriously, are EA fucking retarded?  They have been offered the opportunity to monetize a product without having to invest any amount of money or time into it and said NO!  Any other publisher (except for Nintendo who seem to operate under the same twisted logic) would cream their pants at a chance like this!

"It might take interest away from the Battlefront franchise" yeah it would......  But so what!  They would rather spend millions on just their two shittiest game studios swapping around a new half-baked Battlefront every year instead of a fan project that has 100% profit aside from a little bit of promotion......  fucking morons!

Seriously EA, for your sake more than ours re-consider this!

Bound to happen. If there was one fan project a company had the most reason to stop this would have been it.

What they are doing with the game now sounds like what they should have always been doing.

Just because Valve gave the green light on this game mean't nothing. I am surprised it took this long for EA and Luscasfilm to come in. However the team will take the in-house assets to build something similar just not with the Star Wars IP. So you are still getting your game just not with the skin you were looking for.

Hah! Fret not. We already have a Star Wars Battlefront successor, kind of, under our noses the whole time. Behold!

Mount and Blade. Fucking fantastic moddable game. And when Mount and Blade 2 comes out later, just imagine what kind of crazy shit will happen next! Let's just hope that EA is stupid enough to ignore this.

If EA could do that, you can bet your arse they would.

Hey, I'm fine with just having a game that's like the Battlefront games in gameplay style. It doesn't need Star Wars characters to be a Battlefront game.

Look on the bright side, it means that a game that has *nothing* to do with Star Wars is a better Battlefront game than EA's PoS offering that actually uses the Star Wars licence. And that's quite amusing to me.
