Is Destiny the collection worth it?

9 posts in this topic

What the title says,is destiny the collection worth getting since i've never played destiny before?keep in mind i watched joes review of destiny and agreed with his points on single player and multiplayer and have been keeping myself updated with the typed of dlc bungie has released since launch. With the bad dlc practise that Bungie has enforced is it worth getting? also heard that its boring to grind to get a certain weapon, weapons from prev dlc useless when they release new dlc etc

Edit.Just came to me since destiny is multiplatform, i guess this will be moved to general discussions.

This don't matter. If you are playing it on the Xbox One and you wanna know for the Xbox 1 version of the game, then you put it in the right forum ;)

General Discussions is usually for general gaming talk.

And now I'll leave for the experts to answer your question about the game. I just came here to read what you posted cauze I'm bored as hell while waiting for my download to finish :P

The Destiny collection is like what....  ‎€60 now so I'd say yes.  There is a ton of content now as well as improvements.  It's a very different game from when Joe first reviewed it.

Id on't have it but I have everything minus the iron expansion. Frankly I'd say even what I have would be worth it for full price. It's the most fun I've had in an fps game since ut2k4, and I don't even like playing fps games on consoles.

anything before The Taken King dlc is useless and everything after can be used in Rise of Iron. also, if you had TTK on PS3 or X360 you could buy the Collection at a discount for $40 when you upgrade with your respective consoles (PS3 > PS4 or X360 > XBONE)

Yeah it's worth it. You have all this content to experience at $60. I say it's all right

It is a lot of content . . . . and since they seem to have moved to more story driven stuff it might be worth it.

I think that bunjie are doing nothing more than trying to squeeze every cent out of the consumer that they can. I picked up a copy a while ago been playin it and I am vastly underwhelmed with the result. oh and I don't have xbox live gold so I cant play all the missions. what a load of crap. either Microsoft or bunjie are now at the forefront of ripping gamers off and if I had known after years of being a loyal bungie supporter I would have told them that it was there destiny to stick this game were the sun don't shine. so disappointing how the evolution of games is occurring.

I quit Destiny after the 'expansion' pack content was released, since the season pass didn't cover all the expansions I wasn't going to shell out more cash to continue the everlasting grind. From what I've read about Rise of Iron is that it is slightly more focused on story, but the campaign is roughly 2-3 hours long...2-3 hours? Once you're done with that you're essentially playing through a re-skinned area and fighting re-skinned enemies. Though, the expansion did come with a new raid so I'm sure that is the lure for most people.

To answer your question, if you've never played destiny and want to experience it - this is the best time to do so as the content will be at its cheapest. Playing through it is fun and the combat is very satisfying, that's why most people play it, for the combat. However, if you get through the 'story' mode and start getting into raiding be prepared to grind at the totem pole of rng.
