History of Battlefield

With Battlefield 1 release on the doorstep and finally taking a better approach from the shitty modern times or futuristic, it gave rise to hope to many BF fans and other players in general who are new to the series. While I was very skeptical of how they were gonna pull it off, by judging from what we saw, it actually looks very fun. For many others it looks like trash because that's not how WW1 was fought or that it's too fast paced, but they don't realize that Battlefield never was about realism. While it might be a slower paced shooter than let's say COD series, by definition, Battlefield is just a FPS and not a simulator and it never was and historic authenticity was never one of it's foundations.

For anyone who is hyped for the game or new to the series and wanting to know more, here is a great video. I watched this one long ago actually, it was released before release of BF3 so it might be outdated a little bit, but it's better than most new ones that came out where Youtubers do it, but miss some important info.

What a lot of people don't realise is that Trench Warfare was not "exciting" or "fun". It mostly consisted of sitting in a muddy and damp hole full of diseases with your mates (typically from the same town or village for morale reasons), playing cards, writing letters and hoping not to die in an artillery strike or gas attack then if they survive all that being sent over the top to die in needless offensives in order to move Haig's drinks cabinet six inches closer to Berlin.

Fun times.

As for the video, it was pretty interesting to see about all the stuff I've been missing. I didn't get the first few games, myself. Started with Bad Company and Bad Company 2.

Yeah I don't know why people get pissed that trench warfaire isn't in Battlefield 1. It would be boring...

I can't imagine it being too fun in any WW1 game honestly, specially BF.

Well most people who aren't too acquainted with the series expect the game to be realistic and then they whine when it's not. pretty much their own fault-
