Why I would love to see another Bad Company game in the future

A loud explosion echoes through nearby fields. In panic, I start sprinting towards a nearby house. Just before I reach the doorway, a loud explosion appears 2 meters away from me. The ground shakes and the wall crumbles. Quickly I realize I'm being chased by M1A2 Abrams. I had to act quick.

I pull out my C4 and run behind the house where the walls were still in one piece. I hear the Abram's loud engine gearing towards me. It's sound: a sound of death and destruction. Loud and mean. I think to myself, "Fuck, what am I gonna do? If I go in and he sees me, he will just blow down the house on me."

In just a split second...silence.

After a few seconds, I hear another loud shot, but this time, no explosion nearby. I realize that the enemy tank is now shooting someone else and he ignored me. Through a nearby window I see his position and I realize he can't see me. He turned his cannon on 10 o'clock while I slowly approached on his 3. Just as I came right next to it, it quickly starts driving away. In quick reaction, I throw 2 bricks of C4 on his rear and jump behind the house wall. A loud explosion engulfs me. My heart beating, my HP almost at 0...a close call. He missed me.

With one click of a button, another even louder explosion, followed by another even louder echoes through the village. Smoke rises behind the house into the sky, the M1A2 Abrams covered in flames, absoultely destroyed by the C4. He fucked with the wrong Recon this time...

Few seconds later, I hear a helicopter sound coming from behind a small hill.

I hide behind a small fence and pull out my M95 to scount ahead. In my scopes I sight a UH-60 Blackhawk coming towards me, but it sees me. It slowly stops 50 meters away from me and it turns it's side on me. On it, a soldier mounted on a minigun starts to rain hell on me. With no thinking at all and absolute luck, I aim right in his head and shoot him down. Second later, I turn my scope to the right and sight the enemy pilot. BANG!

Blood splatters the windows and a body falls from the helicopter. A dead pilot in the cockpit and a dead gunner heading towards the ground, as the helicopter quickly decends from the sky, onto the ground.

One of my best plays I pulled out one round on the Heavy Metal map.

PS: Sorry for the shitty grammar. I just read it after I posted it.

I LOVED Bad Company 2. The gunplay and the overall infantry gameplay was so much different than traditional Battlefield. And while some fans thought it was pointless, I think it was a great change by DICE. I LOVED the approach they took with Bad Company titles, specially because of their unique singleplayer...

It wasn't your ordinary story. Yes, the story itself was pretty much like any other FPS: Bad evil Russian men trying to take over the world, but DICE added a unique twist to it: comedy.

Comedy that while from outside looks cheap, but once you actually play it and hear the characters talk throughtout your missions with you, you fall in love with them. Campaigns that were actually succesful unlike their BF3 and BF4 ones, where it was your typical every shooter out there bullshit.

You are a squad of special people who at some points did something stupid and as a reward: you ended up in the Bad Company. Names says it all...bad people in general and in generally...just bad. Instead of getting proper support, Bad Company is always left alone to improvise on their own. Your character being serious and the sergeant as well, but the other 2 being complete nutjobs.

One of my favorite characters was Haggard, mostly because he was a dick and a complete dumbass. Most of the time he didn't even know in what countries they were fighting...

In a nutshell, the game is: BLOW EVERYTHING THE FUCK UP AND LOOK AT BODIES FLY!

And then let's go the general multiplayer gameplay. Big maps, yet smaller than traditional BF maps. Removal of jets and in general smaller arsenal of vehicles, but with a decent arsenal of other weaponry and introduction of perks (which I didn't like).

Outside of these, the gunplay and infantry play was one of the most fun FPS experiences I had. I personally think that Bad Company 2 was a lot harder and more challanging in terms of gunplay and general play than Battlefield 3 or Battlefield 4.

Guns were harder to control with recoil and bulletdrop, but they felt a lot more fun to handle and use. Getting kills felt more rewarding for me than in BF3 or BF4.

Nothing more satisfying then when you see an enemy hiding behind a wall and you pull out the grenade launcher and shoot and the wall, blow it up and get a kill.

The game felt a lot more arcade like. Like a mix of Counter Strike with Call of Duty or something, very hard to explain. It was just a great title. You could feel it was a Battlefield title in many ways, but it also went from it, but in a good way. Was a very good chance of pace imo.

And then came one of my favorite expansions, maybe in the entire fuckin' franchise

How I LOVED this expansion. Playing the 60s music in the helicopters and just raining HELL down on the enemy infantry and seeing all the cover they hide behind just get wasted as your killing spree covers the screen.

Or going into the tank with the flamethrower mounted on it and burn down the troops...no better feeling.

Anyway, then Battlefield 3 and 4 came out. While I loved Battlefield 3 and it was a mix of Bad Company and traditional older BF titles, it was BF4 that was...a good game, but felt in some ways like 3.5.

Yes it had lots of new content and changes, enough to make it a true sequel, but it was the setting, the same modern setting as BF3 that made me not enjoy it as much as I did BF3.

I personally think Battlefield 1 is actually a lot more promising since the release Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 3 and I think it will destroy BF4 sales. Outside of the Battlefield fanbase, I doubt many people wanted to play BF4 after BF3, but BF1 being in WW1 setting I think makes a big change.

Hardline...I won't even comment on it. While it's not a full DICE game, I just sometimes wish they just worked on Bad Company 3. I mean it would of been such a successful game comparing to Hardline which made NO SENSE as a Battlefield title.

Anyway, anyone else would like to see the next Battlefield game to be Bad Company 3? I wouldn't even mind the modern setting with Bad Company, mostly because the gunplay and everything is lot different than traditional BF. It's a lot more fast paced and arcade like. However, I don't see it fitting an older setting. I could maybe see a Bad Company 3 campaign being set in World War 2 maybe and make it something like Inglorious Basterds like, but not as dark of course, but more leaning on the humor.

I feel like just another traditional BF game could be a little boring. Only place they could set it would be future, but that's so overdone right now. Any thoughts on this?

I would like to see another Bad Company game........  but a different developer.  I'm sorry but I've got be honest and I know some people are just going to flip me off saying I'm just a cynical "DICE Hater" here but considering the more recent Battlefield single players, Mirrors Edge Catalyst and Battlefront where they absurdly didn't even try.  I just don't believe DICE can cut it with campaigns anymore, which was always a much stronger and ultimately rewarding aspect in Bad Company.  Maybe Battlefield 1 will be different but considering the trailers I seriously doubt it, they just don't seem to have much care or confidence in it.

If Titanfall 2's campaign turns out well then I think Respawn should have a crack at it.  They seem genuinely enthused about the campaign like it's something that they wanted to do from the start and I just haven't got that from DICE in recent years.

If DICE could work on the multiplayer while another dev works on the singleplayer would be a good idea. Nonetheless DICE did a good job with Bad Company campaigns, but their BF3 and BF4 tried too hard to compete with COD I think.

Hell, I don't even know if they care much about the campaign or hard enough. They are aware their biggest selling point is the MP and I think they added the SP just because...probably to compete with COD also on the campaign scene? I don't even know.

Hardline was something like DICE working on the MP and Visceral working on SP, but that didn't turn out to be good. While the game is classic BF with a different skin in MP, the SP was just a failure, even when it wasn't under DICE's hand. I doubt DICE will be giving the IP to anyone else tho and they still do a very good job in creating the MP ascept. I don't think I would like to see someone taking the IP, but fuckin' up the multiplayer for the sake of SP, not unless they just split up or somehow manage to make the MP even better than DICE.

DICE's issue is they are so ambicious and they constantly brainstorm ideas. I mean just look at their games from BF1942 to now. BC1 was their first major success on stepping up into the console industry, followed by BC2 which was even a bigger success, sold over 10 million units and is probably one of the reasons BF3 existed. BF3 tried many new things again, with a updated engine. BF4 while I don't think is a massive step, but BF1 is. If nothing, they listened to feedback. People wanted either a WW1 or 2 game for a long time and they did it. They are introducing so many new features into the game, they added dynamic weather which was requested for a long time as well, EVEN tho now the community is crying about that it's making the MP matches hard...but they WANTED that. Either way, DICE takes huge risks and they either work out perfectly or it's a complete let down.

bad example: Hardline

good example: Bad Company games which took a more arcade like path and added a different kind of campaign than most shooters.

They are greedy and ambitious which is good and bad, all depending how it turns out. If you cut out the classic season passes, they also made very good expansion packs which adds tons into the game. I think 15-20 dollars isn't too overpriced for the amount of content, however the Premium shit is something classic that I can bet EA had a huge hand in.
