I recently got my hands on this game, Homeworld 2, and i think its just fantastic! Now i dont know if its any different from the first homeworld game, what are your thoughts about homeworld 2 ? Do you like it? I also noted there are quite a few mods for the game being devolped on MODDB which i recommend you guys try out! Does anyone still play homeworld 2 ? ^_^

Do you also play multiplayer ? And where ?

I absolutely loved Homeworld 2! Great story and great gameplay, it was the very first space strategy game that I played and it just made me fall in love with Space and Strategy games.

I Love the homeworld series. each game has a different feel to it that is just perfect. Homeworld really gets my thoughts flowing with the mystery of the proginators and how awsome their tech was. i played it recently and got stuck due to the difficult AI and its cheap programming. I have no idea if the MP works still

Such a great game.   I've been hoping for a Homeworld 3, or something similar to it, but every game that I have seen that says that it is a spritual successor to Homeworld has just fallen flat.

I love both games! I suck at RTS games though so I never finished either of them. The art style and atmosphere the game pulls off is just amazing! I love it! I hope Gearbox does a good job with the HD remakes. From what I've seen it looks promising. It's getting harder and harder for my computer to run either Homeworld 1 or 2 as drivers keep dropping support for these older titles. Idk, maybe I'm looking in the wrong places. Either way, I'm looking forward to running Homeworld with hi-res resolutions! We also got Homeworld: Shipbreakers on the way now which is just fantastic!

Also, because I'm such a nut, I've been remaking the Homeworld 2 ships in a game called Starmade. You can check it out here: http://star-made.org/content/homeworld-2-project

Like everyone else I agree Homeworld was a truly awesome Space RTS. I remember playing it with an old friend and we would record our awesome space battles. I can't remember how or why I stopped playing it but I sometimes miss it...

It's a great game. I think someone did buy the IP, so we may see a new game in teh future. Reboot most likely.

oh dear forum readers. i got a treat for you!!!

A story:

There where 3 Homeworld games total; Homeworld, Homeworld: Cataclysm, and Homeworld 2 (in order of apearence).

The homeworld games where produced by relic, and the IP ownership of HW1 and HW2 was in the hands, fo the now defunct, THQ. Homeworld Cataclysm is in a legal void, no one truly knows who or what owns the rights to that game. Regardless most people dismiss HW:C because of lore issues.

When THQ went bankrupt, Gearbox entertainment bought the HW "franchise" (i quote it like this to show the issue with HW:C).

At the same time that happen some of the original devs who worked for the original homeworld games opened up a company, called blackbird interactive, and began setting up a game (rather similar to the HW games) dubbed: Hardware: Shipbreakers.

When BBI found out about the aquisition of the IP by Gearbox they sent emails congratulating, and little after a meeting whast held, in which Gearbox offered BBI the rights to develop Hardware:Shipbreakers as a game in the Homeworld Universe. Moreover BBI should work on future HW games, and Finally Gearbox is making HD versions of both, Homeworld 1 and Homeworld 2.
