Angry Joe, invest in your own website to remake it like Rooster Teeth's?

Angry Joe Show team, at this point it's getting pretty ridiculous that many of your reaction videos and reviews are getting copyrighted more often.

In one video you made recently, you stated that you got a refund for a costume (I think the Mass Effect one) that cost A LOT of money. So with that money, can you please invest money into your own website and make one like Rooster Teeth (plus you can still have ad's on both the videos and website)? It's a win win. For both the community and you. You make more money from ad's and also the community will thrive even more.

We would like to see reviews and full reaction videos without any edits. Times have changed and companies will do anything to claim videos nowadays to make a quick buck.

Just my thought of course, :ajsa:

-----

tl;dr

  • The whole idea about redoing the website for the video aspect.
  • Having a website more clean, sleeker and modern. Better for video viewing.
  • The idea of him invest money into servers and having all his future content (and maybe past, who knows) in full. Not any chopped up videos to avoid claims.
  • See a normal review without having the video flipped or images covering sections to avoid auto bot claims. Or even a full reaction video without it showing the full video and only 40 seconds of reaction. This is where Rooster Teeth has the advantage when I said "like Rooster Teeth" and not "copy" them.

I checked out Rooster teeth's forum pages and I REALLY don't get what you are on about.

It's blinding white, harder to read, lacking features like signitures and the layout wastes half the screen.  The AJSA forums look WAY better if ask me.

As for the home page and articles, frankly their is very little difference.

If you genuinely feel that their is something about this website that can be improved your going to have to be more specific.

As for Joe's videos getting claimed more often than Rooster Teeth's, well there's a reason.....

Angry Joe and the AJSA don't have commercial partners like this, Joe does have sponsored video's sometimes but that's not quite the same thing.  The upside being that that he and we are free to be more critical.

Nah, The website is fine as it is.

I mean, I'm reletively new to this whole Internet thing and I can navigate it just fine.

Plus, I can't really say that the Rooster Teeth one looks any better, To me it looks more bland and uninteresting.

Well for one, you missed the whole point about this thread. The whole idea about redoing the website for the video aspect. Have AJS upload 2 versions; one the unedited version for this site (draws more fans and traffic to the AJS) and the edited version for YouTube (the YouTube claimers and the fans that can careless about both versions).

The idea of him invest money into servers and having all his future content (and maybe past, who knows) in full. Not any chopped up videos to avoid claims.

I personally (and many others) would love to see a normal review without having the video flipped or images covering sections to avoid auto bot claims. Or even a full reaction video without it showing the full video and only 40 seconds of reaction. This is where Rooster Teeth has the advantage when I said "like Rooster Teeth" and not "copy" them.

I thought I was, having a website more clean, sleeker and modern. Better for video viewing.

I never said anything about this. I just stated that it was getting claimed more often which means AJS doing more work than needed trying to get around the claim (for example the Nintendo Switch games review and Zelda review). More or less, fans getting pissed off at both the claimer and Joe (you can see this all over the comment section).

A few points to make;

  1. As others have said, the Rooster Teeth website forums at best look no better than this site.
  2. The AJSA went through a big update only last year, not likely to happen again anytime soon.
  3. Joe's youtube channel, and thus his youtube drama's and difficulties, having nothing to do with us, so we cant put in changes wether want them or not.
  4. As crab pointed out, RT have commercial connections and obligations that make it much easier to use copyrighted content in youtube videos, resources Joe doesn't have.
  5. Hosting his videos here with ads woukd still come under DMCA laws, so it wouldn't help.
  6. Joe himself very rarely visits this wesite and has no part in its day to day operations, so it's unlikely he'll even see your post anyway.

Why?  We can embed here just fine:

Your talking about using the AJSA website as alternative means for Angry Joe to publish his media without getting into issues with DMCA claims or having to compromise the quality of his content.  OK 2 things:

  1. It might seem surprising to someone who is new but the AJSA has little to nothing do with that.  This is a gaming community where we play and discuss games, gaming culture, the industry and other related topics.  Angry Joe rarely visits here and does not administer this website.
  2. I will keep trying to explain this until I am blue in the face.  Angry Joe hosing his content exclusively here will NOT make the DMCA go away!  The reason why Rooster Teeth can publish their content without getting a DMCA claim or re-editing their videos has absolutely nothing to do with the fact they host it outside of YouTube.

Rooster Teeth are a Multi Channel Network (MCN), they host content form various YouTube Channels and other media sources.  They are a company with contacts, affiliates and partners so they are able to host copyrighted content (which to be fair, most of the channels they host don't use that much) without the same issues because they have deals with the copyright holders.  This of course does have a drawback in that if one of their content providers makes a video writes an article about one of their partners that.... let's say isn't flattering then it could break that partnership.  This is called "Conflict of Interest" and it's something that more critical channels like Joe's seek to avoid.

As you might have noticed this website has no ads, to design a video player and have it hosted here to play copyrighted videos would prevent Joe from earning ad revenue on his videos, which is how he earns a living.  Even if we did have ads (which we wouldn't) they would not earn any revenue to justify making the video.
