BoJack Horseman?

6 posts in this topic

After watching this Nostalgia Critic editorial (I know, kinda odd place to post, but I feel much more established here on this Forum) I've started considering watching BoJack Horseman. What are your thoughts about it? Without spoilers, of course e_e

I mean, I have this issue where I'm kinda turned off by weird odd visuals and artstyles, and BoJack Horseman looks really uh... odd. It's a problem that can easily go away if I catch onto the show fast enough, but is it worth it?

Spoiler

But seriously though, Rick and Morty is absolutely genius and I loved every second of it, despite having a similar grievance as yours, namely:

At first glance I thought the art style sucked but I was wrong, still. I assure you, if you like comedy that tackles existentialism, atheism/religion and all that edgy good stuff you'll love this, it's both hilarious and meaningful.

Yeah, atheism ahem I quote "My god is the biggest dick that never existed" or jabs at patriotism "They're drawing and quartering aliens in the school courtyard and it technically counts as Patriotism!"

The writing is awesome, the animation is smooth, the characters are awesome and relate-able, the aliens and their worlds together with the pretty unique art style are creative, I cannot possibly recommend this enough. :ajombo:

Okay, yeah, Rick And Morty is pretty great. Luckily it's on Netflix here in Norway, so I get to watch it with no hassle. 6 episodes in so far, and man, I can't believe they literally just screwed up their own reality and abandoned it.

I keep hearing about Rick and Morty, but haven't watched it.

Bojack Horseman is awesome, but it's more of a dark comedy. Very satirical, but also kind of thought provoking at times when you think about the messed up, celebrity fueled world Bojack is living in.

Have yet to watch BoJack Horseman, but Rick and Morty is the shit. Seriously, IMO it is both the best sitcom, best cartoon, and is tied with The Expanse for the best sci-fi on TV. It also is the only show that has the distinction of making me both laugh and cry at thee same time, during the Season 2 finale. Watch it ASAP.

Already beat ya to it, m8. It was awesome indeed. I really like Rick's character, how he appears cold and uncaring, but secretly cares about his friends. Also, deep down he has some seriously screwed up shit, as seen in the 'Party' episode and the end of the 'Unity' episode.

Will get started on BoJack Horseman now too, since that's also on Netflix in Norway :>
