What do people have against Fox's Xmen

8 posts in this topic

So lately I've been hearing people complain about the XCU how it "sucks" and wants it back with Marvel. But that doesn't make any sense none of the new Xmen movies or trailers that Fox have been making come out yet except for the trailer for New Mutants. Just because Apocalypse wasn't as good as Days of Future Past doesn't make the entire franchise shit!!!!! And besides if Xmen was with Marvel we wouldn't be having stuff like Deadpool or Logan come on. Honestly even if Marvel had the Xmen (which wouldn't happen) how would it even be better like look at Spiderman now its terrible!!!!!!!!!!

There has been the occasional hit like Logan and Deadpool but let's be honest..... most of the Marvel based material coming from Fox has not been very good from a (mostly) lackluster series of XMen titles to the truly dismal Fantastic 4 Reboot.  Would these Movies improve if licence went back to Marvel/Disney...... possibly but it's certainly not guaranteed.

This is not the only problem that Fox having the licence has created, like the XMen being left out the Latest Marvel vs Capcom and their is no doubt that they would have been included if Marvel had the licence.

So overall......  I think it would be better if the licence was back with with Marvel or at least leased out to someone else like Netflix who have been putting consistently better Marvel Material.

Lackluster what are u talking about the only bad ones I can think of are Origins and X3. Do not get me started with Apocalypse like I said before I was an ok movie but not terrible. F4 is basically a lost cause at this point Fox can reboot it all they want and its still gonna suck. I just said that if Fox gives Marvel the Xmen they will just screw it up like they did with Spiderman recently. Homecoming was just terrible and I'm not pissed because they changed things they should've just made a completely different change!!!!!!!!!!

I haven't seen Spiderman Homecoming yet so I can't really comment but most seem to enjoy it:

As for X-Men, I know this isn't exactly chronological of release, it's just my own personal order of what I did or didn't experience.  I liked the first one (far from a masterpiece but enjoyable), X-2 was okay and I didn't like The last Stand.  I skipped Origins Wolverine because I heard it was terrible and I couldn't get into First Class.  I know lot's of people like it but aside from maybe Gambit it just didn't grip me, It felt like a train line of cameos setting up for future sequels and that was a bit mis-cast in some places.

With the reboot falling mostly flat for me after that I just never bothered until Deadpool and Logan (debatable whether Deadpool at least should really included in this list) but from what I understand they weren't really any better expect then the earlier movies for maybe The Wolverine.  So yeah.... for me at least this franchise has averaged to be..... well kinda average.

So to be realistic I don't see how Fox losing the licence could ruin anything at this stage and it would solve some other previously mentioned licencing problems if they did.  I still think Netflix would be the best people to licence it to because aside form maybe Iron Fist they have just been throwing out hit after hit lately including some Marvel franchises like Daredevil, Jessica Jones and The Punisher.  So if the license for X-Men were to move form Fox I think that would be the best bet.

X3 will forever be the bane of X-Men's existence lol. I enjoyed both 1 and 2 probably 2 more so because of Nightcrawler, Wolverine and Pyro's action sequences...that intro of attacking the President blew me away with how accurate they portrayed his powers and Wolverine tearing through Mercs one by one was epic. Oh and the opening sequence theme music in 2 is one of my favorites.

If Marvel took over mutants they might bring justice to at least X-Men alone, because Fox is jumping all over the place now. Future Past and Apocalypse were good but the connection between ALL the X-Men movies are a jumbled mess with only certain bits and pieces actually carrying over. The gap from Magneto ripping up a stadium and force pushing Wolverine into a lake and him becoming a family man murdering a squad of police is huge. His daughter was what 6-8 years old yet everyone else didn't age one bit, it's not necessarily a bad thing but it breaks immersion because at least the Marvel movies are at most 2 years after previous events. Technically X-Men has been rebooted by going to a different timeline but it's possible a Marvel reboot could possibly bring sanity back to the jumping sequence of events.

As for Logan, Deadpool and New Mutants...for the love of jebus don't touch those they work. Well verdict still out for New Mutants but it's an interesting change in direction that might pay off. The first 30 minutes of Origins was probably the best part of the movie when he was still in Team X and the birth of Deadpool as Ryan Reynolds. Guess I'm on the fence whether Marvel should take over.

Well u forgot about Days of Future Past thats the one u gotta watch its basically fixing the franchises past mistakes and redeems itself as a whole. As for Wolverine its actually not terrible and is really good so u should watch it I dont know why people say its terrible!!!!!!!!!!

Regardless of your thoughts Fox losing the Marvel licence (personally I'm all for it), a deal with Disney for their entertainment assets is now almost inevitable.  The deal is on the table for $60 Billion and it's not just for Marvel and assets but for ALL of Fox's Entertainment film and TV properties minus their news and sports casting.  This includes but certainly not limited to a portion of Star Wars (So we might FINALLY get a proper re-release of the original trilogy without the extra CGI bullshit), Aliens, Predator, Avatar, Family Guy, X-Files, Buffy The Vampire Slayer and the even the Simpsons!

If it does go down this will be a long way the biggest deal in history of the entertainment business:
