What free video editors do you guys use?

9 posts in this topic

I've recently started recording some stuff with Shadowplay, and am now looking into video editing software.

I downloaded Filmora, and even finished a little project with it, and I'm liking it so far, but it puts this obnoxiously big watermark on your videos with the trial version.

Any other recommendations?

For free software your always going to be making some sort of compromise whether it be a watermark, limited trial, video length cap or whatever.  If your serious I'd just buy Sony Vegas or something.

I think I'd like something more basic than Sony Vegas

When I had Windows 7, I used Movie Maker. Simple and it gets the job done. Unfortunately Windows 10 doesn't support it anymore. And every single video editor I found in Windows Store are all so lacking and doesn't have the finesse of Movie Maker, which makes me sad.:(

But with the power of some crafty youtubers,

I finally got Movie Maker back 5 months ago. And I'm so happy! :)

Adobe After Effects and Premier.

What? Oh, those aren't free?

*whistles out the door*

...(actually they're very old versions I got years ago)

If you want the best programs, you got to buy it the full version. Sad but true...

Windows Movie maker is actually a good way to get the hang of baisic editing, and then once you're confident you have the hang of cutting and very baisic things, and you're willing to commit to the bit, then think about maybe getting something like Sony vegas Pro. Movie maker and other free software is good for beginners but has some very clear constraints.
