Teaser "The Survivor, 2299"

16 posts in this topic

http://thesurvivor2299.com/

The morse code and the timer appear to mean December 11, 2013.

The numbers 2299 are interesting... take a look at this timeline.

2161: Fallout 1 begins
2241: Fallout 2 begins
2277: Fallout 3 begins (James leaves Vault 101)
2281: Fallout New Vegas begins

And "The Survivor" is a familiar naming scheme if you think about it...

The Vault Dweller
The Chosen One
The Lone Wanderer
The Courier

Here's what I found (and posted in the other forum discussing this.) I managed to look through the source code of the page:

I'm looking through the code right now for the page. It appears the MP3 is called radio/bridgeport followed by a bunch of numbers and dashes. Bridgeport is located in Connecticut. A second mp3 (I don't know if this anything,) is called radio/fall-river. Fall River is a city in Massachusetts, and it is the location of Battleship Cove (a park in which the USS Mass is located.)  There is also a link to the Bethesda Softworks youtube page. The best part it, it links to the official Bethesda Softworks Youtube channel. If this is a hoax, someone spent some serious time.

A further look into the source page shows this:

    <!--- <img src="http://prepareforthe...er_pinch.png">   <img src="http://prepareforthe...ster_apo.png">   <img src="http://prepareforthe...lesh_cov.png">   <img src="http://prepareforthe...er_river.png">   <img src="http://prepareforthe...er_bst01.png">   <img src="http://prepareforthe...er_bst02.png">   <img src="http://prepareforthe..._atheneum.png">

Seems I was partially right, Battlefield Cove is indeed in Falls River!

I'm also seeing what looks like an age gate in the code. It appears that this would possibly turn into a game site or redirect site. But the question is: can you put a youtube link and picture links that go to the Fallout official website in a code without getting permission? I mean, it could still be a hoax, but it's VERY elaborate now. I'm thinking we'll get something other than disappointment when December 11th rolls around.

Waitaminute, Fall River? I live pretty close to Fall River!

I swear, if this is what I think it is, and they're setting it where I think they're setting it, I may just freak.

I have family down in Bridgeport, which is pretty awesome too. Falls River also happens to be around 57 miles from Cambridge, MA. This is the location of MIT. As Fallout news junkies may remember, this was where the anonymous Redditor claimed that Bethesda employees were being sent to research... Fallout 4.

My friend did a little snooping around other sites with people who are looking into this.

Apparently the ones who trademarked the domain name are ZeniMax, which is the parent company of Bethesda.

I don't remember you saying that, though I think I may have heard it on the fallout wiki a while back. Truth be told, Boston was the most likely suspect for them to do next, what with all the hints toward the "Commonwealth" in a few quests in F3.

Also, after having scanned through the page elements myself, I noticed a "bscountdown.js".

I've got two guesses as to what "bs" stands for- either this is the real deal or Zenimax be tollin'.

As long as the word gets out, they can close two of them for all I care. I like SomeGamer's best.
