Well folks, looks like no matter how much you check your consoles for all the bugs, your still going to have problems. In this case, the red line of death, or as some are calling The Playstation Flatline.

Apparently there was rumor spreading around the interwebs about a supposed red line that appeared on a demonstration PS4. Shuhei Yoshida himself stated on twitter, that the red line was not true. Which he immediately back peddled on when youtube began filling with videos of people unable to use there PS4 due to a Red line appearing on the usual blue light that shows that the console is on. Like the red ring, it was meant that the console was overheating and as a course a pre-caution turns itself off.

EA came forward at one point and claimed the problem arose at the firmware patch for the PS4. Claiming that it was resulting in "Crashing/freezing and Non-responsive connections between the player's console and their TV screen." Surprisingly EA later retracted this statement claiming as a mistake and that it was unclear what was causing the problem.

At this point sony is claiming that of the current PS4 out on the market, there are about of 4% of them have this issue. Whether you this is true or not, we still have the issue that- yes, we have a new red glowing light to be afraid of.

Here are some poor souls who sadly got the line.

Oh no...not again! I've already red-ringed 3-4 Xbox 360's...so how many PS4's will die in my arms!?

Let's hope it's a rare problem.  With every release of a new electronic product there will always be kinks. We all have a warranty, we should be fine :)

Aaw, too bad. Hopefully they'll get around to fix this in future models of the system!

It does not mean that the system is broken all it means is that it is beginning to overheat so just turn it off for a while and it'll be just fine.

the red line of death just means that your ps4 is overheating, turn it off for awhile ;)

If its a 4% then its quite rare,, it was to be expected with sony rushing it to the market, i think the Xbox will have the same problem since they are rushing it as well. Lets just hope all the issues will be resolved soon and without big problems.

I actually heard ti was only 0.04% of PS4's that have hardware or bricking issues. Which is absolutely minuscule, especially when compared to things like the RROD which was a HUGE issue, because it was a design flaw not just a manufacturer defect.

For a new console its to be expected to a degree. I think the Web is really blowing the issues out of proportion though. Its good that they are keeping people informed of potential issues, but when the X1 releases i anticipate that their will be a lot of console war based articles related to hardware failures.

Both of you are wrong. It's 0.4% of all PS4s. :P

If it's just a precaution to over heating and prevents its self from doing so by that, than it's actually a pretty decent thing imo. If it means the hardware is bad well than that sucks big time.
