Hi, I just made this poll to know which of these two is more popular. If you don't have any models, just choose in which one you are interested. ;-)

In my case I like both of them. (3 armies of WH 40K and 1 army for WH FB :-P )

I'm a big fan of Warhammer 40k. I would love to play the tabletop I just find it too expensive. I absolutely adore the fluff however. I love the amount of detail it goes into.

Love Chaos Space Marine.

Yep, I prefer 40Ks' fluff over Fantasy battle too. However I find FB a little more enjoyable during the actual game. (maybe it's because i don't have to move every particular guy in my squad, which is pretty annoying if you play with orcs or imperial guard... :-P)

Love Warhammer 40K's universe and love the tabletop game too, just never got round to actually painting any models.

I've been a fan of 40k, but I don't have the small fortune needed to buy all the sets or the infinite patience needed to paint the blasted things!

Fantasy posses the mighty forces of Lustria, while 40K is in control of the mighty swarm.

Both are equal

I've played both for long time... And now I only buy the army books when it's needed and nothing more. The good thing is that when you have your army complete (after years and years of buying) you won't need more miniatures if you want. Also, I was lucky and all my purchases were made before the inflation of GW's products.

Warhammer 40k!

Btw, Creative Assembly has been recently hiring a Assosiate Producer for their unannounced WHFB project. Probably FB universe will finally receive a decent game it deserves.

i've always loved both (played for 10yrs before I stopped). But for me Warhammer Fantasy has always been the best, I just love the world and the mythos its awesome.

I did buy a bunch of fantasy units once, but only to chop them up and make Imperial Guard penal legion troops out of them

I have always been more fond of 40K and mostly because of its uniqueness and dark tone. There is plenty of high fantasy but not much sciencefiction like 40K.

Some of the 40k novels are awesome.  Check out the Ciphas Cain ones. They are a little on the silly side but I found them highly entertaining.

I liked first 3 novels of Horus Heresy, and Den Abnett's Inquisitor series, as well as 'Rayvenor'. But you only can ready first 2 books of the trilogy. Books quality really goes down in the third.

Warhammer 40k player here, both the tabletop and the games obviously! Collected Tyranids, Space wolves, Tau and Catachans but nowadays it is too bloody expensive. Also enjoy the lore alot, I would recommend "The Horus Heresy" book series for anyone interested!

Used to be a big 40k fan, GW just update the rules more times than needed. War machine is a much better game to play, 40k still has a better aesthetic universe thougn

I have played both, and from a fluff and lore stand point, 40k is just awesome. I mean, fantasy limits you to one planet. 40k gives you the entire galaxy. My friends and I made our own sector with our own lore (we started in late elementary). Custom chapters of space marines, imperial guard regiments, splinter fleets, tomb worlds. ork hoards, chaos warbands, Craftworlds, Kabels, and tau cadres. The characters and members of squads started to gain their own character. Like The gaurdsmen who took down a carnafex in close combat. That is the strength of 40k, In my opinion. The rules are okay and easier to understand quickly, but I like fantasy's better.

Fantasy has always been about large armies and powerful heroes. I played vampires, and they were very interesting to say the least. I loved raising units of zombies and just grinding Superior foes to dust. (Though, don't get me started on blood knights.) I liked spells and how magic worked in that game, and I loved the look and feel of trying to out maneuver a foe.

just my thoughts on the games, both are great and I enjoyed playing both as I grew up.

In all honesty I'd would have rather played fantasy if I had known about it back then knowing what I know now, but 40K got its' fangs into me and just won't let go. I just ended up having more 40K stuff than fantasy. I have fun with both despite the fact I can't even field 500 points of skaven(my fantasy army), and my 40K armies being slightly undermanned(I just don't have all the right models.)

For the setting I would say 40K. For actual gameplay Fantasy.

This. GW has sorta given up on writing anything decent for Fantasy, whilst 40K has gotten 2 movies, several games and a couple of roleplaying D&D style games (Dark Heresy and Deathwatch, if anyone wants to know).

But, the tabletop action in Fantasy is so much more tactical, with even simple shooting phases being under several modifiers.

I enjoy both equally. Fantasy has my all time favourite character in Nagash but 40k has my all time favourite group in Gaunts Ghosts.
