Any decent and recent JRPG?

10 posts in this topic

I don't know what happened to Japan and why they KILLED my childwhood leaving the Japan Rol Playing Game gendre in this state. I don't get how there was so amazing JRPG in the past and now everything is K-pop music and fanfiction level stories.

What happened to the old school? where are the Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest and Dark Chronicle I played when I was a boy? Do anybody know a current gen game that fits in what the JRPG was? PLEASE?

Well Final Fantasy is still around, a little deluded... but still there.

Dragon's Dogma is probably your best chance for a JRPG, though.

You could try Ni No Kuni or Tales of Xillia, though i still like japan, i like many new songs, animes and games from japan.

"Ni No Kuni, Tales Of Xillia, Tales Of Graces F, or Final Fantasy 14" would be your best bet for "PS3."

"YS: Memories Of Celceta, Soul Sacrifice, & Persona 4 Golden" would be your best bet on "PSVITA."

"Tales Of Vesperia, Lost Odyssey, Final Fantasy 11, Infinite Undiscovery, & Magna Carta 2" would be your best bet on "Xbox 360"

"The Last Story & Xenoblade Chronicles" would be your best bet on the "Wii"

"Bravely Default, Tales Of The Abyss, Shin Megami Tensei 4, & Etrian Odyssey 4" would be your best bet on "3DS"

Obligatury - have you played persona 3 and 4? Also if you want to go retro, have massive head mess horror, you could track down corpse party on the psp/vita (second best vita game ironically after gravity rush)

I was feeing the same way the last real jrpg I play was resonance of fate and while it was good the story was a little lacking the gameplay is a lot of fun unique and Interesting. Tales of xillia I recently played and that game is addictive as hell lol

I highly recommend Etrina Odyssey 4. Its not super new but still relatively new. It is a JRPG clashed with a dungeon crawler as it's what you will be doing for leveling and finding materials to craft new gear. It also has a very new and intuitive way to keep track of your location by allowing the player to draw and label their own map. This is only for the 3DS as far as I'm know.

Not really recent but I really enjoyed the first and second game of the Suikoden franchise. Really good stuff there.
