Idk, don't know much. What I do know its powerful and has different price ranges and runs on a new os with Linux. Saw a controller demonstration on YouTube valve channel, pretty neat stuff.

I don't really give any crap about steam machines because i have gaming computer. Controller i don't know i will would not use it. But biggest Steam machine work will be for people who not bother with building pc or don't understand pc statistics they don't give crap how much stronger their Graphics Cards is and other parts so for these people steam machine will be perfect no need building, easy to set up, everything is ready. And that may turn other people for pc from console because it would be easy to set up.

No. A person that already have a good gaming PC won't be bothered to buy one. The OS and the controller is exciting though, because they're new.

Not sure if I want to buy a console with the specs that I could toss into my pc probably for the same price, maybe higher. That and the os will be available for pc's as well. At least as far as I'm aware.

I sure as hell hope it has some kind of futuristic alien technology cooling and venting system. Cramming all that high end hardware so close together in that tiny case is just asking for overheat issues.

I kind of understand what they're going for here, but I dunno I would still rather have a PC, costs way less money and does a whole lot more.

Also, I have a sneaking suspicion that Valve will enact some kind of bullshit  like making their games only run on either the OS or The machine, in order to force people to buy either of them. Another thing, how much can their OS REALLY improve gaming? PC's run games just fine. Yeah I like the idea of an OS that isn't running a bunch of irrelevant bullshit in the background, but games already run just fine on windows based systems without all the fancy hardware in the machine.  At a certain point it just becomes overkill  a waste of power and as I said before, top end  components run hotter and being crammed so close together just means a higher risk of heat damage.

Meh, I already do that on a 55 inch 3D TV off my desktop PC with a simple DVI cable, and a set of powered speakers. Besides all that, I don't understand how you're gonna be able to upgrade the GFX card in it with the case being so small and most modern GFX cards being bigger than bricks

They're all huge.

nah i already have a PC have no interest in it. i cant see steam box being a threat at all the gaming consoles that are out have the console market locked although steam machine could get a hundreds of thousands of units sold i dont see it becoming a big thing.

It's going to end up like the Wiiu or worse, the Ouya, if it doesn't have enough good games that are playable on it.

Nothing can compete with PS4. Why get another platform if it cannot handle all the polys and emotions that the PS4 can?
