2015 starts out with the relaunch of the AJSA CS:GO Server! Continue reading below for me details about CS:GO and the AJSA's presence in the game!

    By Redjakk, in Articles,

    About Me:
I go by the name Redjakk and I am a community moderator on these forums. I will now also be acting as the game officer for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. I hope to successfully run a fun and friendly environment for all of you to play in, and I hope to have a good time playing with those of you who are interested in the game.
    Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) is the most recent of four games in the franchise based solely on competitive multi-player. There are two sides, one being Counter-Terrorists and the other is of course Terrorists. This game is also a currency based game, this means that completing objectives and/or successfully killing a person on the other team to earn money. You then use this money to buy your equipment in the buy menu. More money, means better equipment. CS:GO's competitive play is objective based, the two modes available are demolition and hostage rescue. The most popular game mode on the competitive level is demolition. There are also two other modes of play, one being team death-match and the other arms race. Counter-Strike is a game with a long history, it first started out as a mod for the first Half-Life game. With it's increased popularity over the years it has managed to become the game it is today. CS:GO is kind of a throwback to the the original game mechanics that were most popular in competitive leagues. CS:GO feels like Counter-Strike 1.6, but looks like what you'd expect from a newer game. So despite the years that have passed Counter-Strike is still very popular, and CS:GO is trying to maintain that reputation, and feels successful with the resurrection of a strong competitive league.
    What's Good:
This is a tactical game to a point, it's not as in-depth as some like ARMA or Insurgency. However you will need to prepare each round deciding on what actions to take. How will you defend? How will you attack? How much should you spend when buying your equipment? These are all things you'll need to think about when playing the game. Also communication is key, so it's also a very cooperative game as well.
Not that into competitive mode? Well they also have a casual mode for those who do not wish to deal with the stresses involved with playing competitively. There's also two other modes that are for fun, called team death-match and arms race. In team death-match it's a team versus team type of play where you just kill each other. The winners of this mode are the ones who performed the best out of both teams. Arms race is a game mode where you race through the different guns in the game by getting kills with a particular gun. With each kill you will proceed to the next gun until you are left with nothing but your knife. Be the first one to kill someone with your knife and you win the game.
This game isn't dying anytime soon, people will always be playing. There's also matchmaking for competitive mode, so if you don't have a team then you can find one by going into matchmaking.
    What's Bad:
When playing in low-tick servers you will notice shots not registering on people which can be frustrating. This is even more infuriating when playing competitively using the matchmaking system. The reason for this is because Valve servers are used in matchmaking, and their servers run at 60 tick-rate, which is very bad.
Hackers also queue in matchmaking, but this is inevitable in any game. You may also experience some pretty mean people in the game be it matchmaking or not, but this is also inevitable in any game. So consider this bit here as a reminder.
You will sometimes experience one-hit kills. Not all people dislike this, but it is upsetting at times.
    Goals and Events:
So what's going to be done with the server is that I'm going to have it set as its default style of play. What this means is that it will remain as a demolition and hostage rescue style of play. I may put death-match on it depending whether or not the server is getting any traffic, or just have it there for fun sometimes. I also plan on adding any maps that I find well balanced to the server, so you can expect custom maps. Of course you guys may suggest maps to me, and you can do that after I create a topic where you can post suggestions. I will check the maps out myself and determine whether or not they're well balanced and will be put on our server.
As for events, I would like to plan in-house tournaments, there might possibly be rewards for the winners in the future, but not for certain though. That kind of thing really depends how active and how successful things are, so I will need your guy's help on this. Also there will be events where we just all gather and play together, I'll consider finding fun game modes to play, but for now I'll be keeping the game vanilla.
    Our Server:
Our server is a 16 slot server that runs at 128 tick which is good, and I'm really happy that we could get that. You can find our server by adding it to your favorites at the following IP address.
I hope to see you guys on, and I hope you enjoy playing on our server.
You can find the CS:GO section of our forum by clicking on this link.
    Teaser Paragraph:

So, it's 2015 and we're back in action and moving forward. What do we have planned, what's going on in the community, what's the 411? Well, look no further for answers to all those questions! -DR

    By DamionRayne, in Articles,

Well here we are in 2015, it's going to be a good year folks! I can promise you that moving forward. Let's talk about the first steps towards a better and brighter AJSA, Vilayer. Who, you might ask me, is Vilayer and why should you care? Well for starters we are now using them to host several servers as you can see here,
http://angryjoeshow.com/ajsa/_/articles/welcome-ajsa-to-the-new-year-r173 , in this article posted by Councilmen Tons0fun. But if you're interested in the company as a whole and what direction we took with them, then keep reading.Firstly, Vilayer gives us a "Clan/Community Package", which you can look at here: https://www.vilayer.com/gaming-layer/community-packages.html
This company also offers many many more options in regards to voice servers, virtual servers, etc. Though currently we only have plans to utilize the community gaming package to spool up game servers we need when we need them. We can do this because this type of package gives us "slots" for all the games they support, which is a pretty long list by the way: https://www.vilayer.com/gaming-layer/game-servers.html
So, here's hoping this is the start of a great friendship between us and Vilayer going forward.

Time for the news boys and girls! Thankfully we actually have some!

    1. For starters our glorious Lord Commander decided to finally post his opinion on a topic that's been a heated one for many months now. Interested in what he had to say? Go here:
http://angryjoeshow.com/ajsa/topic/25598-final-ajsa-gg-thread-angry-joes-gg-position/Remember folks, the rules still apply in that thread if you plan on making a post! So be nice, stay on topic, and have reasoned debate and discussion. Thank you!

Next, the AJSA Twitch team has had a bit of a shake up in 2015, with some members leaving and others joining the fold. Want to see what our peeps are streaming and keep tabs on ALL of the AJSA stream team? GO: http://www.twitch.tv/team/ajsa Hell, even as I post this Bast50, Angerbeard and Ravenfist are all streaming! So go watch! As a note, the AJSA Gaming Twitch channel is now reserved entirely for events, and Joe is a part of the team as well. So there's no better way to stay connected to all our Streamers.

Last but not least, stay tuned to our Community YouTube channel, because myself and Councilmen Tons0Fun will be adding new content to it over the coming weeks. Where is it? Take a looksee: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCga3mZiwQIv3CO-qjopVSXg

I'm also going to toot my own horn here for the first time and make mention of my 2014 Holiday special playlist, if you're interested, take a looksee here:

Welp this part is the sad one boys and girls, as there's been no real art submissions that we've not covered already in months. So if you've got art and want to share it, post here: http://angryjoeshow.com/ajsa/forum/43-fan-art/ and then send me a PM!

Why in the world are you NOT on TeamSpeak? You really should be! Get on there, make friends, get games, talk to people about anything! We have a tabletop roll20 group on there. Seriously, you're missing out if you're not on TS. Don't know how to get on TeamSpeak?

    Teaser Paragraph:

Happy new year everyone! I’m happy to announce that we now have our own AJSA Insurgency server!

    By AverageSpacePope, in Articles,

For those who don’t know what Insurgency is, it’s a tactical FPS shooter. However, unlike most FPS games, Insurgency adds a flare of realism to the well-known FPS formula. The follow-up game to the Source mod under the same name, Insurgency is highly competitive and unforgivingly lethal and manages to strike a balance between the one-life, one hit death gameplay of Rainbow Six and the fast-paced action of CS:GO.

As a result of the new server, we will also be hosting events for Insurgency every weekend (check the calendar each week for accurate event times). All Insurgency events will be taking place in the AJSA Insurgency TeamSpeak channel @ ts3.ajsagaming.com.

Here is a link to the server:http://www.gametracker.com/server_info/

To find the AJSA server in-game all you have to do is follow these easy steps:

    1. Go into the server browser and go into favourites.
    2. Click “add server” and type/paste the AJSA server's IP address into the search bar (you can find the server's IP address in the previous link above).
    3. Click on the AJSA server and favourite it. Now you should be able to join the AJSA server through the favourites section of the server browser.

If you have any questions regarding Insurgency, please PM our Insurgency server admin, AverageSpacePope.
    Teaser Paragraph:

Welcome AJSA to the new year, 2015!

As the AJSA enters into it's 3rd calendar year (2nd year of operation) we are going to be introducing changes in order to better serve you guys and as they say "Bring on the Games!"

    By Tons0fun, in Articles,

First and foremost is a change in server hosts for a majority of our games to Vilayer! They have a product called a clan package that works out fantastically for us. It allows us to have a "pool" of game slots that we can dynamically assign to new game servers and have them up in running in as little as 15 minutes in some cases. So be on the lookout for new game events on community games as well as new supported games within the AJSA!
    Our starting lineup:
    - 7 Days to Die
    - CS:GO
    - Insurgency
    - Team Fortress 2
    Phase 2 -Up Now!
    - Chivalry: Medieval Warfare
    - Space Engineers
    - ARMA 3
    Coming soon:
    - Garry's Mod
As some of you may know there is a new process for getting games supported in the AJSA, if you want to see what it is or possibly step forward to run a game read Commander Seph's article!
    Changes to Club Membership
We want to re-evalute and value-add to the membership. There is a thread currently in the membership forum for those who have a membership to contribute to the conversation and state what they would like to see added or changed. If you you would like to be a part of the conversation go here!
Lastly, we are always looking for ways to improve the community and keep moving forward. Stay tuned for more announcements as the year goes on!

What: To commemorate the new year and to go easy on both the players and the staff after the hazy events that transpired during new years eve, we'll host a Special, somewhat low effort Op on the first Saturday of the new year, as opposed to a regular Op Night.
    Event Outline:
    The Warpgate Siege:
To celebrate the new year the Angry Army will lay siege to either the NC or VS warpgate on any continent. Moving in to dominate, we aim to beat our time from the 22nd Op, where we lasted 1 h 30 min. If need be we might lay siege to multiple warpgates that evening, we'll see...
    The Valkyrie Zerg:
Once we had enough, we'll head out to have one last silliness together, namely a Valkyrie zerg. Depending on how we feel we either troll our opposition or try to annihilate those as well.
    AJSA Event MVP

Officers and Sergeants will be on the lookout for the player who best exemplifies the AJSA during this event. This means players who not only demonstrate skill on the battlefield, but are great team members as well. A player who meets those high standards for this event will receive the AJSA Champion Award to adorn their forum profile!

As soon as we all die horrible or kill everything around us, we'll begin the normal combat operations.
