GTA III. I would always head over to my friend's house in the morning (since his place was closest to the bus stop to our high school) and we'd just listen to the Chatterbox station until the bus arrived. Good times.

A certain event take took place in a game that led me to discontinue my forward progress for good? There's only one game that has given me such an experience...

*looks at Battlefront EA, Need for Speed 2016, cancelled Night maps for Battlefield 4 because they are focussing on Battlefield 5, long ago shut down servers of Battlefield 1942, Battlefield 2, Vietnam, 2142 (that still hurts), no mods allowed since Battlefield 3 and STILL no mods allowed on actual games, Origin always on DRM, Sims 4 Vanilla with less content than Sims 3 and Sims 2 Vanilla (which are selled as DLCs), the Sim City "no Offline mode possible" scandal, Account-AND Forum Bans of Players who even dare to criticize something, the upcoming Mass Effect 4 fail with tons of upcoming DLCs and the MEGA Hype that will come, etc. *

no they have not gotten any better.

    No. Can't say they have.

I'm an oldie, but here's some I think a few of you will remember...

Those are all the "big" ones where the openings sold me in a heartbeat.

    Never forget these.
  9. Apex Spartan liked a post in a topic by Renerade in The last game that awoke the sense of wonder in you?
The most recent game to reawaken that sense of wonder, the sense of wanting to continue on because I'm so invested in it, would have to be Oxenfree on Steam. It's a game that made me feel like I was playing a video game again. The premise is so unique that I found myself saying, "I'll play this next part and then stop for the night", only to play the next few sections afterwards. Those are the type of games I appreciate most; ones that keep me going. This simple indie game had enough to offer with so little to put it in my top ten favorite games of all time. To me, the game is just that good.

Then I guess we'll have to put that one as a viable candidate in the Remastered or remade thread.
  13. Mr. Molotov liked a post in a topic by Renerade in Infinity Ward is going to make another COD this year. I thought they're going to go on a hiatus, but cmon gimme a break!
I actually liked Call of Duty: Ghosts. It was relatively fun and I enjoyed the first few levels of the campaign (the atmosphere was pretty cool and I felt like the underdog, rather than some generic guy that's part of a military organization with an infinite amount of resources at my back; kinda like a throwback to the nuclear detonation scene from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare). I just wish it was like that for the most of the game, with the last section of the game being about gathering what resources we had left and giving it one last hurrah in a final desperate bid to win it all (which it kinda was and it was a real rush... didn't like the tank controls, though). I also liked the idea that I was playing the brother and the son of two of the story's protagonists. It made me feel like I had a place in the conflict and gave the story some actual depth. Maybe not a whole lot of depth, but some depth nonetheless. And I still have a real blast with Squads. I like creating custom bots modeled after my friends and just going head-to-head with the AI. It was a mode that I wish the other Call of Duty games had. But I suppose that's why I also have Arma III.

I hear people don't like the game because of its politics, but I don't care much for politics, so I hardly even notice it. And even if I did, it was forgotten by the majority of my playtime spent in Squads mode.

Now Call of Duty: Black Ops II and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfighter; those were games I did not like at all (Modern Warfare 3 I don't care much for). It's just an adrenaline rush from start to end, and afterwards I'm so burnt out of it that I just don't want to play them anymore. Yes, Ghosts had adrenaline rushes, but they were quick and spaced out with the slower sections so you could catch your breath. The other games was just one action setup after another. Too much for me to handle. If I wanted to play a game that was all action, but didn't take itself seriously at the same time, I'D PLAY EARTH DEFENSE FORCE.

  18. Renerade liked a post in a topic by Ancient in Porspekt, a new HL2 game. (Addon?)
If you still havn't had your Half-life share already, maybe this will finally ease your mind on this drug that is called HL.

So a guy named Richard Seabrook had been working on a continuation of gearbox's half-life:opposing force, and, guess what, Valve decided to support him. And is greenlit. And its now on steam for £7.50/$10/20R$ Lucky him. The game will officially release in February 11.

It doesn't require HL2 to play.

    The story:
"Prospekt begins in the Nova Prospekt prison in the Half-Life universe. Gordon Freeman is slowly being overrun by soldiers in the prison, however unknown to him his Vortigaunt allies manage to find some help from a forgotten hero."

From reading PC gamers article, it was said that the protagonist will be "US Marine Adrian Shepherd" (Makes sense since this is supposed to be a continuation of opposing force)

if i remember correctly, it began with ThatGuyWithTheGlasses.com (Nostalgia Critic), then Joe was part of Blisteredthumbs - Channel Awesome. After the Forum closed, they opened an external Forum Blisteredones. Went down a few years later. In between, Joe made his own Homepage AngryjoeShow. And now we are here.

In a alternate Dimension (Nostalgia critic Christmas Special 2014 or 2013), when AJ did not become a Reviewer, Joe was President of the U.S. and did blow up Canada. North America and Alaska were divided by a big Ocean.

Honestly, why would anyone pay for a game that will prevent you from playing it? Isn't that pretty much borderline runaway theft? I mean, this ain't no lottery machine where, if you buy one ticket and lose, you have to buy another one to play again.

Actually, that sounds more like a game in an arcade where you have to spend quarters (tokens) to play again if you lose. But with this game, you're not spending a quarter. You're spending 10 freakin' dollars.

Mr. Garvey is only annoying in the sense that, even after being elevated to the rank of General and overall leader of the Minutemen of the Commonwealth, he still bosses you around and constantly reminds you of the Minutemen's goal and values (which, in his character, I can sorta appreciate... the "constantly reminding me" aspect at any rate).

If only I could order the Minutemen to accomplish these tasks, instead of just me having to deal with them alone, it would make the whole "leader" position that much more essential. Equipping your troops, making sure they're prepared, and then sending them off to do good in the Commonwealth seems like a much more appealing concept, rather than just completing some faction side quests by yourself.
