I've been gaming for 20 years now so I'm an old geezer. I started off with the really old stuff and advanced along as technology progresses. Used to be active on FPS mps like Tribes and the Classic UT, pretty much retired from the arena now (well actually, I still roam around in the ME3 MP, it doesn't place too much stress on me when all I have to do is shoot straight and throw some biotics around ). Presently rumbling along on slower pace games. Found AJ accidentally a couple of years ago when it occurred to me that I should look up gameplay and reviews on YT than to read them on game sites. I'm largely disillusioned with the practices of game devs, the publishers, the misleading trailers. I found most of his opinions on games running concurrent with mine so I've come to appreciate his reviews and decided to sign up. Keep up the good work, Joe and Co, I enjoyed all the vids you put up.

Thank you so much for the kind replies everyone.
I apologize for getting back so late since i'm not allowed to make more than two posts every 24hrs. I used all of mine yesterday, so I had to wait.
There are so many interesting topics on the forums i'd love to comment on but due to the restriction it will have to wait for a while.
It's a nice feeling to feel so welcome.
So, thank you for that!
Be well everyone.
Best wishes: Maria

I stand nowhere there. I stand on gamers side, I want to have fun with the game, it doesn't matter to me if it's old gen or next gen. And by fun I mean that the gameplay must be entertaining, and depending on the genre the story and characters must be well developed and interesting, those things combined, gameplay, story and characters if made at least half decent are making me want to return to the game, if one element is lacking while others are also not that good then the game is a chore to play or even worser, a boring chore. The graphics and sound design are not so important to me, they are a nice addition, but my approach is like this, graphics? if I see on the screen what I'm supposed to see, that's enough, sound design? if I'm hearing what I'm supposed to hear, I'm good, if they are better then it's just the better for the game true, but that's not important to me But I have to say, there are not many next gen games that I return to that often as I do with old gen, I am still playing Morrowind, Diablo2 or Future Cop LAPD2100 as examples. Maybe I'm... I don't know, disgusted by what You mentioned developers are doing with DLCs? It seems like nowadays they aren't interested in making games anymore, they are making cash not games, not all of them, but more and more we are seeing that in games we have now triumph of form over content, which is not good for games at all in my opinion. Sorry that was a little off topic. I have some fav games from old gen as well as from next gen, despite all the problems we are going through with developers for some time. I may be a bit more on the side of old gen, because I am with games for 18 years and I have expectations from games, maybe that's why I am ranting about them nowadays, as years ago the developers were unable to create outstanding graphics and physics and all that stuff so they had to keep us entertained via story and characters development, maybe I'm still too much used to it, at least I find the gameplay in both old and new games in most cases same entertaining. So yeah, maybe I am a bit more on old gen side, but I'm open for next gen, I will try out everything that this and next years promise to us, it have high chances to be a lot fun, unfortunately as well as great disapointment, let's hope not tho.

This is more or less just for fun.
This is somewhat a difficult question for some, and for others there is no contest. Do you prefer the new gen of gaming or the classics? And now thanks to gaming clients like steam and even.... origin. We do have an easy access to both.
The new gen of gaming brings us breathtaking visuals and sounds that only creators could dream of just 10 years (or even 5 or less) ago, but some argue that gaming since it began in around 1972, has become just a big monopoly. And many games content is 'teared' from the game and then packed into DLC, even after gamers already have to pay for a 'full' game. And also that story-lines in gaming now are more or less forgotten. But! That is not to say that are like this. Some execute everything flawlessly, making a near unforgettable experience that may not have been possible with last gens limitations.
However that doesn't mean the classics are to be ignored. Really, these 'classics' laid the foundation for gaming today, as they forced themselves to continue making and breaking frontiers. Some knowing they wouldn't have the most flashiest looking game, spent countless hours on story and character development. And like most games of their era some worked out and some didn't...
So... Where do you stand? Are you torn between the two? Or are you clear on where you stand?
Personally I find this one difficult, but I have realized that when I have my friends over we do tend to play more 'classic' games then new.

Good Afternoon everybody
All of my friends call me The Wadd (a play on my last name, and The Ders from workaholics). I play all sorts of different games, from modern games to tons of retro stuff on my retropie. I'm on a big RPG kick right now with fallout 4, replaying skyrim, and also currently going through pillars of eternity. I also enjoy shooters and wouldn't mind getting less shitty at CSGO. Several years ago I was a sponsored player for the first Call of Duty on PC, and I've been trying to find a decent gaming community ever since then.
When I'm not gaming I'm a student, I work full-time as an engineer, I tinker with electronics, I'm a powerlifter, and I recently started Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
Looking forward to getting to know you all.

Hello everyone, I'm excited to be joining the Angry Army. Joe's put me on to some great games which I hope to enhance even further by participating in what I hear is a great community!
Used to be heavy on Xbox live gaming but monthly subscriptions took a toll so now I'm trying to get more into PC gaming so if anyone is into 40K: EC, Arma 3 or Guild Wars 2 catch me on there!
Looking forward to meeting and gaming with you all!

So, I've finally got my profile after clicking the wrong link and not knowing what I did for 4 days...
Anyways, I'm a PC and last Gen console gamer who's gonna be moving over to the PC side fully soon. I'm very happy to be in Joe's army, after about 2-3 years of watching him on YouTube, but that's not why I came, I came to serve and enjoy this community at large. And yes, my name is a reference to Fleet Admiral Terrence Hood of the Halo series.

This week we had problems with Steam and the PSN, a company unable to pay their staff on Christmas, more frivolous lawsuits, new release announcements, and an excellent article on the color design of video games.

This week is going to have a lot of Kojima
Kojima Productions' Next Game Will Launch On PC and Bayonetta and Corrin Will Be Added To Super Smash Bros.
Kojima confirms that his newest title will be releasing on the PS4 and on the PC at a later date.
Japanese devs stuck in negative spiral, says Xenoblade Chronicles director and Hideo Kojima says Japanese games are a "hard sell" to global audiences
While I would say the statements made by the two are correct, everyone always seem to gloss over that not only do Japanese focused games typically not sell well in the West, but they don't sell very well in Japan either.

Ken Levine's next game will be both "small-scale" and open world
"The triple-A, single-player narrative game is starting to disappear," he said. "Kind of games like BioShock. There's fewer of them being made. The real reason is they're very expensive to make and I think gamers are saying pretty loud and clear that if they're going to spend $40, $50, $60, they want an experience that lasts more than 10-12 hours. That's a lot to ask somebody to spend."
Valve sued by French consumer association
The UFC alleges five points in particular:
Steam's Subscriber Agreement explicitly forbids users to sell their games, despite the transfer of ownership of digital products/licenses being legal. Valve declines responsibility in the event that users' personal information is stolen. Valve claims ownership of the rights of any user-created content uploaded to Steam. It is impossible to get the money on your Steam Wallet back if your account is closed/deleted/banned. Valve applies Luxembourg's consumer law regardless of the user's country.
EA & Visceral to Produce Open World RPG ‘Star Wars’ Game!
"Heading up this project is former Ubisoft producer Jade Raymond. Joining her is Uncharted writer Amy Hennig. To say there is some power behind this game is an understatement. Those who wished for a more detailed story mode in Star Wars: Battlefront, should be smiling from ear to ear, because these two have experience with content rich games that have major story arcs."
Twitter Hires “Director of Gaming Partnerships” — Meaning What, Exactly?
"It’d be nice if his job was all about supporting Twitter’s more unusual corners, which result in net art like games made entirely out of tweets and thoughtfully crafted Twitter bots — but, let’s be real. It’ll probably be more focused on maintaining the social media fervor that surrounds massive gaming press events like E3, as well as supporting bigger companies that use the service to announce their products."

Gauntlet: Grounded in a military training facility, Gauntlet plays up the core philosophy of Treyarch's classic three lane map structure with distinct variety in visuals and gameplay. Each of the three primary lanes has a unique environment as players battle through a sprawling jungle, sub-zero artic zone and rainy urban cityscape. Splash: Set in an abandoned water theme park, this vibrant and playful map delivers an imaginative environment complete with waterslides, a wrecked pirate ship and a lazy river ride that winds through a fantastical forgotten city. Splash is designed to drive an open flow of combat, including plenty of opportunities for underwater gameplay. Rise: Set in the snowy outskirts of Zurich, Rise is a Coalescence Corporation construction project for a massive subterranean research campus. The design of the map caters to a mix of classic Call of Duty cover combat alongside strategic core movement opportunities, with each section of the map offering distinctly different styles of gameplay. Skyjacked: Set on a security VTOL in the clouds over urban Zurich, Skyjacked is a reimagined version of the popular Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 multiplayer map Hijacked, and retains the same fast and frenetic gameplay from one of the most popular maps in Call of Duty history, but with a twist. Skyjacked gives players the opportunity to explore the map in a variety of new ways thanks to the all-new core movement system in Black Ops 3.

Tie Fighter Found the Humanity In Fascism
"That drive to become a key component in the Empire is what I remember most about TIE Fighter when I first played it over two decades ago. Fallout 4 Normal Person Play Diary
