  1. The plans for NPCs are incredible ambitious and hopefully they are able to implement as planned. As far as I know the idea would be that a player is not able to identify if a character is NPC or another player. It could be that NPCs will not be added for a while so the universe will stay pretty empty until then. Who knows, maybe they start to add NPCs once those backround simulations are started. It is actually pretty interesting that adding just a new tech like gas clouds can potentially add lots of to gameplay. With dynamic and chained missions a gameplay can change drastically depending if part of the mission happens inside gas cloud or in deep space. A simple "fetch mission" can turned out to be an interesting adventure. I'm very excited about new flight model. It sounds like there will be lots of variety between ships and how to fly them.
  2. A pretty nice interview with Brian Chambers and Tony Z. Just a bit too agressive style to me so devs couldn't answer the questions nicely. Although the interview seems to be done more to people who doesn't follow the development I think it was still pretty interesting to watch. I assume Joe doesn't has not been following the project closely and that's why he asked question that has been answered already. I'm looking forward to see Joe's thoughts about the project in upcoming video. I expect quite critical view and it is actually first time me to hear how much he knows about the project and his thoughts about it.
  3. Yeah, I guess they just implement organization functionality in Spectrum to in-game. As far as I know they are using WebRTC so it could be that they will bring VoIP integration to browsers as well. You are probably right that 200 players is not realistic goal until OCS server-side is done. The universe could feel a bit lonely once Hurston and ArcCorp and their moons has been integrated. Gas cloud tech will bring nice athmospheric locations (pic1, pic2) and hopefully some interesting gameplay as well. Mining or salvaging inside a cloud could be profitable but very dangerous and risky; you are most likely not able to call outside for help, pirates, etc. Economics is very interesting. Tony Zurovec's CitizenCon presentation is worth to watch although he had no time to go in-depth. Delta patcher was certainly a huge step forward. My Internet connection is fast enough to handle daily 30G patches but it is still much nicer to be able to patch the game almost in no time. Today is Q&A episode about flight model in RtV. It is one of the most heated topics in game. JP did great ground work and I like how Colson is continuing from there.
  4. I don't have much details what in-game organization system will include. Do you know any details about it? I'm most likely going to star playing as solo but still I really like how CIG is pushing features forward which makes communication and emergent gameplay between players possible. FoIP+VoIP were great additions. I would like to see organization features included soon too. If I remember right they are aiming to have about 200 players/server end of this year. That's not much considering how big the playable universe should be at that point but a step forward nevertheless. I guess server meshing is last of their big required techs and definitely will take some time to get it included. There are already some smaller features in Alpha 3.4 which I really look forward; a new flight model, FPS ping & scanning, gas cloud tech and projectile manager. Of course all AI improvements are very welcomed. My biggest interest for next year are probably background simulation (economics) and salvaging. More mission tech; dynamic and chained missions would give current missions much more variety and depth so no new missions or types would be even needed yet. So far I have had lots of fun during testing alpha versions.
  5. OCS has definitely improved FPS significantly and made testing / playing easier. The current 3.3.0u has been pretty stable so far with only one CTD (Crash to Desktop) so far. I wouldn't be hugely surprised if they will decide to push 3.3.0 to Live soon. Alpha 3.3.5 will be a nice addition and will increase the size of playable universe a lot. There were few interesting presentations in CitCon about Hurston and Lorville. It is good to see how much effort they put procedural generation + handcrafting + writing. What is the tech (cloud tech, full persistence, server meshing, etc.) you are looking forward most? How about gameplay (salvaging, bounty hunting, farming, etc.)? Yeah, I definitely wouldn't hold hope too high for Squadron 42 release anytime soon. I don't personally mind when Squadron 42 will be released so in my point of view CIG can use all the time they need. I assume there are still lots of cleaning up and balancing to do. Thinking that Alpha 3.4 (and SQ42) will have a new flight model should make quite big difference in space combat and therefore affect to mission balance, etc. NPC AI, flight AI, etc. seems to still get improvement at least what comes to PU roadmap.
  6. It is not only IGN but I'm pretty tired to game media / journalism in general. The sites seems to be more or less all the same and there's no many sites I have found interesting. I guess it is just that majority of sites are not targetted my kind of gamers. As a PC gamer the choices are pretty bad. It is a bit funny how some games gets tons of visibility just visiting once in E3 stage. No Man's Sky is one such an example. PC Gamer made ridiculous amount of articles about it before the release while for example X4: Foundations has got one so far. Egosoft has made live streams, videos, interviews, etc. about X4 and media keeps total silence. PC Gamer has been advertising RDR2 quite heavily and it has not even announced for PC ... Well, anyway. I truly hope RDR2 will be amazing game. I don't care about reviews but need to give it a try myself. The theme is intereting and if it doesn't feel like a typcical "open world game" I'm very much interested.
  7. I find it hard to even have GOTY game since games are so different and it is all about my mood which I find "best" at the moment. I do buy AAA games when something interesting comes up and it is true I'm a 100% PC gamer at the moment. I guess RDR2 will be released on PC at some point later so I should have lots of time to take a deep-depth look at it before release. I'm more allergic to reviews these days. Some games are so much hyped in game media that it really feels if they get even a fair review or automatic high score. Of course can't say if RDR2 would be one of those games. I personally feel Skyrim, GTA V, etc. are overly hyped games and I did a mistake by buying them before giving them a try. That's why I'll be much more careful with RDR2.
  8. Sounds like a good plan . I'm not sure what to expect from SQ42 yet but I guess it will be a cheesy (in a good way) Hollywood space action adventure. Trailer looks beautiful and I'm looking forward their new cloud tech in Alpha 3.4 already (nebulas, etc.). Alpha 3.3 (PTU) is surprisingly fun already and getting better patch by patch. Many interesting changes has scheduled for Alpha 3.4, like a new flight model.
  9. Sorry for being negative, butI have burned my hands with so many "10/10 games" (GTA V, Skyrim, etc.) that I'm definitely not going to buy this until I'm able to give it a good try beforehand. So far I'm not convinced but of course since I have not played it yet I'm staying hopeful that the game is actually very good. Let's give it a fair try and and see after that ...
  10. The interview would have been much better without unnecessary agressiveness, would have let Brian and Tony talk and if AJ would have done a bit background work beforehand. If you can look beyond those problems the interview is not bad. AJSA forum is silent but I'm pretty sure here are many players who are looking forward to play Squadron 42 and/or Star Citizen PU. Are you looking forward to play either of those? Which one are you waiting for more?
  11. A beta of a new season starts this Thrusday. According to ObsidianAnt this would be the most biggest update this year - bigger than the earlier ones together. I'm looking forward renewed Exploration and Mining gameplay, they look really promising.
  12. I guess I shouldn't be surprised but yet again gaming media failed to make a good articles about CitizenCon. It was an excellent opportunity to give readers more information about the project but media decided to make news only about Squadron 42 trailer and an extra $1M. It looks like PC Gamer didn't even bother to fix the errors in their news. Anyway... CIG has started to push presentations filmed in CitizenCon to YouTube. Only three videos at the moment but many more to come.
  13. A quick recap what has happened recently. Monthly Studio Report: August 2016 Week 35: Star Citizen: Around The Verse 3.5 - UK: https://youtu.be/vvUBEYD6ik0 Star Citizen: Reverse The Verse 2.5 - UK: https://youtu.be/1HYQADNOFyQ Week 36: Star Citizen: Around The Verse 3.6 - LA: https://youtu.be/Py2KSLveyT4 Star Citizen: Reverse The Verse 2.6 - LA: https://youtu.be/ko1vLmaqgqA
  14. A new Squadron 42 trailer from CitizenCon 2948. Looking better and better ...
  15. Release date: 30th November X4: Foundations looks a great mix of earlier X-series games and X Rebirth. Hopefully the game will get a great start and win X-series fans behind it.
  16. Egosoft has informed that they are working on a new X-series game X4. Information about the game is still quite bare but what they have said so far the game will be much more like X3 than X Rebirth, meaning a player is able to fly with the multiple of ships, etc. The game engine will be use Vulkan graphics API just like recently published Early Access game X Rebirth VR edition. Egosoft is going to keep XCon 2017 on Saturday, August 26th where they will be demo upcoming X4.
  17. Evocati testers are currently testing two distinct versions: Alpha 3.3.0 and Alpha 3.3.0+OCS. Alpha 3.3.0 should go to PTU in 10th October and Alpha 3.3.0+OCS in mid of Q4 if it is ready enough. There has been some interesting leaks from the current builds. VoIP+FoIP is one of the upcoming features and reports says that the first iteration works pretty well already and it is pretty impressive - https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6ubz3a
  18. I don't think there is such a RTS as "best" but I could recommend: Planetary Annihilation: TITANS There has been some controversies around the game/development but it looks like the development continues and things has settled down already.
  19. I have heard a lot good about this game. It is on my wishlist but since it has not released for Linux (yet) I have not bought it. Steam added a "Steam Play" support recently which uses Wine/Proton to run Windows games on Linux. Nice thing is that the developers sees it as a Linux-sale which encourages buying Windows game on Linux. 25€ is not much from a game which is worth of hundreds hours of game play, even more. I'm very tempted ...
  20. Monthly Studio Report is one of the best ways to follow the development of Star Citizen. Yesterday CIG published studio report of August 2018 and it has lots of juicy infos about various of game features. It is great they are using open source software like WebRTC. The latest AtV is pretty good but I thing it is concentrating too much the same features every week. The new format works pretty well otherwise - short and concise. Today is going to be a big show RtV about OCS.
  21. Graphically the game starts to look pretty fine but there are some things I personally don't like in this alpha version. Camera is too close so hopefully it will be change to change angle and distance "freely". The style of effects, armors, etc. are way over the top for my taste but this is something I don't think will change much before final version. Hopefully we would see some slow non-combat trailers which would show different styles of gameplay, missions, how dynamic and living and breathing the game world is, etc.
  22. Congrats! Sounds like you had awesome time and 3rd place must feel even better when you had to beat big names to get there.
  23. Sounds like the whole conference could be interesting to you because of Alpha 3.3 release and the development process in general. They sent lots of new Evocati invitations which is a good sign. I guess Evocati PTU release happens within two weeks and they really need lots of people to test it because of OCS. Hopefully they would reach ~200 player/server this year as planned.
  24. Frontier Developments shared some important news: Important Community Update
  25. The only rumor/guess I have heard so far is that there could be something related to habitations presented in the CitizenCon. It would be nice if all players would have their own room (or even apartment) which they could decorate a bit and have near access to hangar. This is one topic Todd Papy is talking about in latest RtV. Drake Interplanetary's capital ship Kraken could also be showed.
