  1. That's actually a misconception. While there is the cost of good quality parts along with Windows 64-bit, console players have more expensive games and have to pay for a subscription to online games along with the cost of a console and along with the cost of a computer because you are apparently able to go online and type that message. If you prefer consoles over PC, then that's all fine, but you aren't the one saving money.
  2. That's the thing. First off, it's beyond your control so there's no use stressing out about it. Secondly if Comcast were to throttle several IP's, many people would switch to other ISP's that don't especially if it were Youtube which everyone watches. Politics is completely Taoist. You can't have a yin without a yang.
  3. Well to avoid that, there are several parts that I avoid getting in the first place. PNY, Rosewill and Foxconn are manufacturers I avoid like the plague while Crucial, Antech, EVGA, ASUS, Corsair, Cooler Master, Gigabyte are for the most part trusted.
  4. Well the thing about this is that it is illegal. It violates anti-trust and the courts would not allow it. Now the question is are they making companies pay to have faster bandwidths or are they threatening to throttle the connection as a form of extortion?
  5. Often times, people will say that video games are too short. Like always, there is a differing opinion as to how long games should last. As you can tell, games are getting shorter and shorter. But should there be a set standard? I think there should be. I am going off of proportions when discussing this. We all know that the average video game in $60 upon release. Now what is a good thing to compare? Well how about movies? The average movie is an hour and a half and those films cost about $4 at least in the state of California where I live. So knowing the numbers, we can plug in the variables. 1.5 is to 4 as X is to 60. Doing the math, X=22.5 or 22:30 hours. Here's the math if you want to see the formula. Now with all that said, in order to get your money's worth, you have to spend that much time to make the game worthwhile. Now that is disturbing because if you look at Ground Zeroes which is $30 at the cheapest will go for 37 cents per minute. The average cost for labor in auto repair is 25 cents a minute. which means you are paying them $22.79/hr for this game. That is middle class wages you are giving them. Compare that to a game like Banished which is $20 and therefore you would need to 7.5 hours to get your money's worth, many people play that game for MUCH longer than that and the replayability is endless. So when you want to buy a game, I suggest going to this site to see if that game is worth the price tag.
  6. EA isn't dangling from a cliff. There is absolutely no correlation between game quality and game sales. To give you an example, Rome 2 is the best selling Total War game to date. Games like Call of Duty? Sale breakers. Angry Birds? Over 1 billion sales. How about a game like Portal? 4 Million. Not that great of a number. LA Noire? Flopped.
  7. Elder Scrolls games are rich in content. ESO is not.
  8. I am ashamed at Joe for rating this game so high.
  9. Sonic. I agree with Yahtzee on taking Sonic out back and shooting him in the back of the head.
  10. This is a statement that has been echoed for ages. The media causes violence. Is it true? Yes, but if you look at it, there have been several scapegoats such as movies, music and the main scapegoat since 1999, video games. The last one in particular really pisses me off because as someone who plays a lot of video games, I notice that there is a gigantic divide between people who play games and people who don't. Basically the people who don't play videogames have absolutely no idea about what they really are. And of course, the media exploits every single time a shooting occurrs. However, there is no concrete evidence that video games cause violence. In fact, if you look at the statistics, violent crime has gone down since video games were introduced. There isn't even a correlation between the two. However there is a reason why the media always uses video games as a scapegoat. It is because they are in competition with them. The Gaming industry is so massive, they gross more money than movies. Not only that, but younger people often prefer video games over cable and will instead get tv off of Netflix assuming they don't pirate it. So these companies do what every company does. Compete by bashing the competition. It's just that now it's easy because they have a demographic of people over 50 who never played a video game before in their life being told that they are bad and they cause violence. And in all honesty, it's very easy to think that if you take a kids game like Mario, Sonic, Spyro, you name it, these kids games can involve the main protagonist dying or in the case of Spyro, killing. So in the end, a lot of it is misinformation that these companies exploit. Yet with all this going on, there is a cruel irony to all of this. As I said in the title, the media causes violence. Well yes. Just not video games, music, movies, comic books or anything like that. The people who publish the news cause violence. Think about it. When a shooting occurs, there is ALWAYS a pattern. A shooting goes on and of course the news blames video games, but they also glorify the shooter. Everyone knows Adam Lanza, Anders Brevik, Seng-hui, Klebold and Charles Whitman is, but nobody knows who the fuck Noah Pozner is. Why? Because it's the shooters who become famous. The news speaks of his life, how he grew up, how he committed the act, what type of gun he used, you get the entire portfolio on these guys just by watching the news. So being portrayed as an antihero instead of a piece of shit, it comes to no surprise that there are copycats that occur about a week or so after the major event. Case in point, there was a shooting in Kansas City yesterday that left 3 people dead. This comes 11 days after the shooting in Fort Hood which was the same site of another infamous shooting back in 2009. Do you honestly think these shootings have nothing to do with eachother? The Fort Hood Shooter also hypocritically called out Adam Lanza before the shooting took place. So it's clear this guy had a clear recollection and possible obsession over previous shootings. In the end though, the bottom line is that the news has no soul. Infact having a soul would probably get you fired.
  11. Time for a new video card
  12. Don't even worry about it.
  13. Further solidifying proof that the first Black Sabbath song was not Black Sabbath, but I'm surprised the riff is on the record.
  14. I played Doom and Wolfenstein as a little kid, then I got a Genesis at age 7
  15. So this is slightly old news like a day old, but the number of users who are active on Steam went up by 10 million users since October. In contrast, the Xbox One sold 3 million systems while the PS4 sold 4.3 million systems since their release back in November. So this is an interesting development as PC gaming becomes more popular as time goes by. http://www.examiner.com/article/valve-announces-10-million-more-steam-users-since-october-up-15-percent Opinions? [edit] - Since I am getting uninformed people replying to this, then let me clarify something. The number of people counted are active users. Meaning they have to have an account that isn't banned and it has to have games under the account which they purchased.
  16. Steam is already taking down greenlight for that very reason. There are so many games on Steam, many of them are garbage and end up taking diamonds in the rough off the front page.
  17. Since this was necroed, I feel like responding to this. The game requirements for streaming a PS4 would require a connection 64 times faster than Google Fiber and that's just the memory alone it would need to replace. Streaming is not the future for a very long time.
  18. For me, I used to be big on consoles, but Gen 7 made me lean towards PC and current gen made me lose all faith in consoles.
  19. Well you could deny his claims or realize that he's right. Pick and choose.
  20. If you prefer consoles over PC, that is your opinion and I respect that. However, I am not talking about opinions, I am talking about facts. It is a fact that PC is customizable, it is a fact that PC parts can have more power than console parts, it is a fact that there are more exclusives, it is a fact that most online multiplayer is free on PC, it is a fact that PC is backwards compatible, it is a fact that games are cheaper on PC. If you like consoles more, then that's an opinion. There is a difference between opinions and facts, Saying 2+2=4 is not an opinion.
  21. .... What can I say? Dating is a shitty process.
  22. For the last fucking time. There is a difference between being an elitist and knowing you are right about something being better.
  23. Shogun 2. I do have a thing for Medieval 2 and oddly enough Empire.
  24. He is right about this. Granted what activision is doing is making their franchisez stale, gamers would rather have tried and true formulas. Think about this for a second and realize just how much of a catch 22 game developers are in. If you make a long running franchise, the game will get stale and people will complain about it. Then take a game like Hitman Absolution where they took the game in a different direction and people panned it for straying from the original formula. Gamers don't want their games to stray far from the game they loved. THis is probably why Sonic Team can't make a good game until Generations came out with classic Sonic. People like the old formula. They want the old formula.
