So lately we've been getting allot of "trolls" on the EU BF4 channel on our TS. These people come in, spamming random sounds, annoying voices, soundboards or offensive cusses and slurs. Ofcourse we can mute them, but they keep comming, and muting only gets you so far before you get so anoyed you avoid the TS altogether.

Now in my opinion there's 2 ways the AJSA can deal with this issue.

Method number 1: Apoint some active members as channel admins for EU afternoons and primetime. These channel admins will be in charge of keeping everything in our BF4 TS channel running smoothly, and to make sure that those that are being offensive, rude or otherwise annoying get muted or kicked out.

Method number 2: Lock the AJSA TS channels for everyone that hasn't registered and been aproved for recruit rank. What I mean with this is that only members of the AJSA that have registered on our website and have been aproved by angrybot or an officer can use the TS. We could make it that either those who aren't members can't switch channels, or that they simply don't have talk powers. To get around the need of some AJSA members to play with their non AJSA friends we could open a public channel that is open to non members as well. This way, those who play exclusively with other AJSA and are bothered by TS trolling can stay in the AJSA channel and those who want to play with other friends can go in the public one.

This is just my 2 cents on the issue at hand here. If any of you guys have other ideas for resolving these issues be sure to share them in this thread!

You will have to forgive me if I don't mourn his passing.

I've been up close and personal with the kind of people that use his "proud invention" and contemplated his death many times.

Normally I like a laugh and joke but that bastard right there has a lot of blood on his hands.

Use the PLD to spot enemies and use it to lase tanks and the like too. Pick a favorite rifle and stick with it so you can get a good feel for the bullet drop and speed. Don't ever camp and aim looking for enemies as they'll spot your scope and your position gets given away instantly. Also try to use gadgets like the radio beacon to support your team in the best way possible.
  12. MetalMan liked a post in a topic by Disconnected in Angry Rant #2. This is starting to get bad.
I think the current issue really has everything to do with transparency. This isn't a matter of who gets mod as I really can't point at any of the mods right now and say "He/she didn't deserve it." The problem isn't a matter of who but a matter of why. When a community members accuses you of getting your modship only trough donations you could take that as a personal insult and try to debunk him. What you could also try however is to find out why a community member would go to such a conclusion in the first place, as this is a perfect indicator that something is wrong.

Right now, the members of the AJSA are hardly informed on big decisions like who becomes a moderator. Because nobody knows the process behind it, all we can do is fill in the gaps for ourselves. The more frustrated members amongst us will then go to conclusions like mods buying themselves into their position. This isn't an insult to you as a mod, it's an insult to the way the AJSA does things.

If people were more informed about the process behind selecting moderators then they wouldn't have to land at such conclusions. Even just announcing promotions on the forums would help. I've seen this way of handling this situation in other communities and it worked pretty well there. Might be something the AJSA considers doing as well, if only to provide a more transparent council.

In regards to the community I agree that things aren't exactly how they should be. For starters, there's not nearly enough mods or officers around like you already stated. But the thing that bothers me much much more is that the council and officers do all their decision making without consulting members.

The council and officers barely have any pressence in the community and basically just hangs back as a sort of decision making shadow entity. For a community to really succeed, you need interaction on all levels. Now I'm not saying that Joe should hop over on the TS every night, but atleast some of his officers or moderators could. Decision making like what maps to put in the rotation or wich people to promote should be something you talk to your community about. Right now, nobody gets to have any say in anything.

To the council and officers I would just like to say... You're the head of the AJSA but just remember, a head doesn't get anywhere without its body.

In regards to being humble... I'm ok with some trash talk here and there, we're all manly men and gamers after all. But it would be nice for the winning team to not talk down on us low KD folks because we just got spawnraped for the 7th time that evening. Call this QQ if you will but you wouldn't enjoy your game if you were on the receiving end either.

I think we need 2 euro server because most americans play on the euro server and we have more euro players i think.
The eu server is filled up most of the time and the merican servers are empty.
  17. wochinimen liked a post in a topic by Disconnected in Angry Rant Topic. BF4 EU server and china rising
I second this. It's a bit silly that the one and only EU server we have got turned into a China Rising premium server. Even though I do have premium, there's plenty of people who don't for either financial or moral reasons. Now making the server into a premium acces one we exclude our regular non premium AJSA EU players. They simply can't play on an AJSA server with a reasonable ping now.

The AJSA either needs to revert back to the normal rotation and perhaps make the switch once China Rising hits it's official release... Or the AJSA could use all that cash it got lately for getting a second EU server.

That one has gotta go to Vaas from Facry 3. That guy is just completely bonkers insane and evil, the way he treats you and your friends. I found him to be the most interressting villian this year and was super dissapointed when he got killed off and replaced with that standard cardboard cutout Hoyt.

It's mostly folks just having a good time and getting to know eachother better really. We're all playing battlefield together but one can only talk about battlefield so much. Simply put, people don't wanna spend their entire evening only pointing out snipers or wich objectives to attack so general off topic conversation is going to happen.

I don't believe this is something people should switch to the general chat channels for, especially when all playing BF4. HOWEVER.... The TS seems to be getting more and more busy and crowded the last few days. I agree with you that things have started to become a bit hectic. If anything, we need some sort of common TS ethics wich basically come down to letting the other guy finish talking before you start talking yourself. Right now there's times where there are as much as 4 conversations taking place at the same time and this is simply impossible to follow.
Another thing that could be considdered though is to add some casual BF4 channels for people who wanna play BF but also talk random stuff. That way the main channel could be kept to BF4 only. I don't think the open lobby or general chat channels are the place to go for this so this would be the next best thing. A more extreme solution would be to make seperate TS channels for each and every squad so you can have just the 5 of you in there but yea... That's kinda what the ingame VOIP is for and I fear an aproach like this would devide the community too much.

I don't find them to be OP but Engineers pretty much dominate CQB with their PDW's so it's best not to be too near the buggers. When using carbines they're pretty much on equal footing with most assault weapons. Carbines are slightly more accurate when fired in bursts however so they have a slight edge when using that weapon class.

I find every class has about equal odds at taking them out but your aproach has to be different depending on the weapon they use. I mainly go recon myself so I end up picking them off from half a map away but when I do go in close as assault I get my fair share of kills as well using my M416. If an engineer gets the drop on me and starts firing their PDW first though that pretty much always results in a death, especially with the new M-TAR.

Just practice at being a faster shot then they are. ^^

Agreed. This game needs maps that make using flashlights and the like actually viable. I would love to see large scale dark desert maps with compacted cities where you have pretty much 0 visibility without any lights or IRNV.
