It really annoys me just how much moralizing is going on over videogames lately and the return of the Thompson-esque viloence rhetoric. I'd think by 2014 we'd be passed that.

I hope GOG steps up and sells it. Really, Steam has too much power - they ban something, it's effectively banned on PC. There are other storefronts and I'd be happy to see Steam actually have to compete to maintain their position. I hope GOG gets more games so the anti-DRM revolution can truly begin.

Tone would definitely a difficult thing to capture. Go too campy with bad child actors and it won't turn out well. Go too serious, then it's just another "gritty" dark fantasy movie and Lord knows we have too many of those these days.

People NOT involved should be civil too... Ive seen a fair number of hypocrites go like "what a stupid ass debate, I dont know what gamergate is nor do I care, everyone involved is just being a whiney retard and should stfu"... People with attitudes like that are the onrs making gg look worse than it is, only they are too ignorant or dumb to get involved.

edit: just to clarify, choosing not to get involved doesn't make you dumb...I mean people who get upset simply by LOOKING DOWN on people who ARE involved are hypocrites, and have far far less reason to be upset than the upset people who ARE involved.

They're a group that did some developer interviews a while back and said they weren't pro-GG but were "anti anti-GG"

I guess they didn't like being portrayed as pro-GG so they're being copyright trolls. I'm in GamerGate because I oppose that sort of behavior.

It's deplorable. Abusing the Youtube system to false flag is disgusting and those who engage in it should be ashamed of themselves.

I'd rather they fix all the issues it has on the X1 first before porting it to the PC. Don't want them bringing something broken over after all. Same goes with 5.

fine. my next gaming PC won't be having an intel cpu or motherboard.

wanting equality is bad. having equality by natural means is good, but it shouldn't be something to "aim" for, i.e. actively turning away perfectly acceptable and qualified white candidates for jobs just because they are not black, minority, or a woman? fuck that. if intel wants to be racist to my skin colour, then i won't buy their stuff.

i don't support racism. they might see it as being equal, but i just see it as racism. you can't turn away people who are good for a job just based on the fact that you don't happen to have enough of whatever other ethnic group working for you.

"thanks for coming to the interview mr johnson, unfortunately we are unable to offer you a position at this time because we don't have enough women or black or minority people working for us. we will keep your records on file and when we have hired enough of those people first, if a position becomes available we may contact you in the future. "

that's not being equal and providing people opportunities, that's being racist. period.

The fact that you even say "reverse-racism" A.K.A, "racial prejudice is not possible on white people, because they are the only one's who do it" essentially makes you a racist.
A lot of people arguing that this is a good thing keep on saying the sentence "you know what I mean" which essentially remarkably shows the true meaning of the sentence, which is "I pull statistics and uninformed opinions from my ass"

You meant Western Civilization. You know how hard it is to be accepted as a citizen of Japan as a foreigner? No matter how fluent you are in japanese, no matter how smart, how much effort you put in, you will always be "that one gaijin".
Trust me on this one. My brother lives in Okayama. Faces this plight of race every day.
So no, white males do not dominate and oppress the world as is the common myth,

I'm certainly all for equality in science and tech.
But in my perspective that isn't achieved by forcing a certain % of the members being of a certain sex, race, creed, or whatever.
Equality doesn't mean hiring underqualified people to fill a certain quota, it means hiring people for their performance and not for their "group affiliations". It means promoting those who make progress, instead of those who comply with a particular image or background over others.
If Intel wants to have more capable females on their rooster, why not grant some scholarships for females on IT careers? It would allow more skilled women, who might have the inclination but not necessarily the resources, to study and acquire the skills that Intel might be interested in hiring them for.
Those scholarships could even come with a guaranteed hiring if they mantain a minimum GPA, fasttracking them into work and effectively moving employee diversity to accomplish that quota without having to set a numeric goal for it.

Darth Sidious is right. The very issue is desiring diversity. Why perpetuate an issue that has slowly been leaving our society? It seems this was a misstep and should be rescinded. Why should I, a white male, be considered less than anyone else? I have never treated someone as less than equal. If I am passed over for the color of my skin and/or the gender I was born as then that in itself is racism and sexism. Isn't that the very issue many want to end? Where is the equality?

yep. Phil the TF2 officer I believe. And that was used as ammo for why the thread was bad; it made people angry. And those people trolled even if they were officers.

The council decided it was becoming a "political" discussion and put a cap on it. But, "We should be grateful for being allowed to discuss it at all!". I know things were getting heated in it, but I think it was important. Still, we should just drop this now before things get poo
  23. Recoveryanonymous liked a post in a topic by RavenKitsune in When did gamers get so cheap?
Respectfully i disagree with this I am a avid mmorpg player and I am always willing to pay hundreds of dollars on them because I feel the game has earned my money. its not a issue that we are cheap its a matter of we shouldn't have to feel a need to pay 100$ before even playing the game. What if you spent 60$ on a new mmorpg you wanted to play and your computer says it cant run it? Then you need another new computer if you really want to play it that badly so that's thousands of dollars before you even hit PLAY. So in conclusion it's not that we are cheap its a matter of mmorpg players base their transactions based on trust from the provider. I would like to keep in mind that this is just MY opinion personally so if yours differs from mine hey that's completely fine I just wanted to throw in my two cents.
