    Oh, no way.
The prize for the largest wall of text is mine, we've already settled that in another thread
Though, my late review on the Xbone included a lot of line breaks

The walls of text in this thread man... The discussion's almost fiercer than GamerGate.

In which case, I can see why you said what you did. Thank you for clearing that up.

I agree that Joe shouldn't be obligated to talk about it if he doesn't want to. It'll probably be in his controversies list which is enough.

The thing is that many people out there do want him to take a hard stance for one side or the other. Totalbiscuit is at least more of a pundit and speaks on topics like this quite frequently. The price of neutrality is a high one, ask Geralt. It's not easy and I frankly don't blame him. Nor do I believe he has a moral obligation in this situation; he's an unrelated third party who doesn't typically cover news stories.

He didn't touch on the Anita Sarkeesian thing outside of his controversies video. I could be wrong but I don't recall Angry Joe talking about the Watchdogs graphical controversy at length either. Granted GamerGate is a bigger deal, so I don't think it's ridiculous to politely ask Angry Joe to talk about it, just maybe not to expect it.

You can keep talking about this GamersGate bollocks if you want but you won't discuss the idea that members of the AJSA staff are trying to manipulate forum views, posts and topics for some form of unknown agenda. If the topic was displaying 0 views I don't have a clue why and expect I won't find an answer. It's just one of those things. I want to consider this resolved, if you disagree you can send me a PM.

I would just advise to keep in mind that they are trying to make what would normally be perceived as a negative into a positive by saying it's their artistic vision; that's all well and good if it's true, but it does seem rather convenient that the "cinematic show piece" has become a lot more popular lately since the new consoles have been struggling with 1080p 60fps.

I'm not saying that their excuse is just PR, if they mean it, but it's something to keep in mind.

Well, there are two problems with it.
First, we didn't really know how much was locked (rumors being rumors, not facts), and we don't know how much of that was released either. Or does the SDK patchnotes state that all of the processes are available now?
Second, any process running in the background is going to draw resources from the machine, so maybe in theory all the power could be used for what the devs plan, but when the console runs the game, every other process running requires processor time and takes from what the game can use.

Last time we talked, you escaped technical facts by complaining about my long posts.
So, following my own words, I'll disengage from this thread again in order to avoid it being turned into yet another PS4 vs Xbone argument.
My disagreement with your math remains the same.

  11. Recoveryanonymous liked a post in a topic by Puntosmx in Is it just me or has gaming changed?
Yes, gaming has changed as the years pass by.
But I wanted to highlight this part of your post, because it's a critical component of WHY the games became like it.
In the sixth console generation, only the Xbox had internal HDD.
For the seventh gen, all consoles had internal drives, and both the 360 and PS3 were programmed to install the games before playing.
This allowed for the convenience of patching games, which enabled publishers to launch DLC and expansions into the consoles.
This is what changed the gaming world, for previous games were played "as is", and patching bugs could only be done by releasing a new batch of fixed games.
So, in years gone by, if a company wanted to release a secret "ultra-hard" mode, it had to be included in the disk/cartridge and it would require some sort of achievement to unlock.
Currently, it's possible to develop the new game mod days, months or years after release and charge for it as DLC.
Of course, it went south (did it cross the Bravo river?) when companies started to lock content in the disk behind a paywall, but that depends more on ethics and policies of said companies, and less on the technical capabilities of the consoles themselves.
  12. Recoveryanonymous liked a post in a topic by fridgeracer in IGN rate Alien Isolation 5.9...
i dont care what ign, eurogamer, gamespot, whoever rates any game. none of their ratings are true. the best place to see what a game is really like is on amazon or steam reviews - i tend to just read what the players actually say. most of the time if something is fundamentally broken or whatever people state it, but big review sites ignore all of that. all they care about is easy gameplay and nice graphics and online FPS modes.

  16. Recoveryanonymous liked a post in a topic by Gone too in Gamer Mind: the issues we wont talk about
I think the problem with "corruption in the media" is everyone talks about it in casual conversation and everyone knows  the gaming mag/site is in decline and likely taking bribes for adverts but we don't usually have hard proof, there's some clues from time to time like when the guy who gave Kane & Lynch a bad score got fired(site was all painted in K&L promos.) from Gamespot but it's always muffled, doesn't get talked about til years later by the competition no less( http://kotaku.com/5893785/yes-a-games-writer-was-fired-over-review-scores ) and well it's back to business as usual with no accountability and a minimal public outcry, I remember talking about it back then with some friends but the looming question has always been "what can we do?" but then again back in 2007 youtube and Twitch weren't what they are today, Many of the big players today had just joined the scene(Totalbiscuit joined July 2006, Angryjoe joined october 2008) and it was still a while for it to overcome jurnalizm.

While most of us here use youtube, let's plays and other more informative means many many people still frequent the gamespots, escapist, Destructoid(I read it myself.) and even kotaku and rockpapershotgun get enough traffic to maintain the sites and likely remain profitable since those article writers get to eat otherwise they'd be dead.

Well what happened recently was the first case of in the face corruption I've seem since the start of our "new era", other things must have happened but they either flew over my head or I don't think the evidence is substantial enough. Now the problem is "how do we deal with it?" and then there's a group who's adamantly defending silence on the issue and another group thinking it's about feminism when it really is about accountability in the media and gender doesn't at all play a role in the widespread outrage of the vast majority of gamers.

And then there's the recent attacks on gamers by the same media that's supposed to serve us, from "gamers are assholes" to "scrawny awkward nerds have to put up with girls now but they don't like them." all which seems a retaliation against our ability to think and question their public image, I mean how dare us right?!

I guess what I'm trying to say is we're supposed to watch the watchers here and we're starting to do a better job of it but still not good enough or they'd be ashamed of their practices instead of trying to blame gamers. There's been a huge increase in bullshit articles this last month but it's not a new phenomena at all.  Not sure if this rant is cohesive since I took a long break between some paragraphs but those are my thoughts on the matter I suppose. Remember "Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?" also "knowledge is half the battle" and "no drugs."

I don't know man, the sites do get a lot of traffic or they wouldn't exist. Not everyone is like the people here who mostly seem to be well informed about stuff and won't buy a game until checking all the information, I usually like let's plays myself for that kind of thing.

And some people dare talk about the good old days! Remember buying games based on the cover? That was a thing too.

The hype is definitely real and the media fuels it pretty well I think and a lot of people eat it up,  buy the games and then get disappointed because the hype does not represent reality. Game censorship is fortunately not a thing anymore unless you're chinese or Australian so there's that but there are other ways to affect the industry negatively.

I agree, you're right freedom of speech means they'll say whatever they want but it doesn't mean we can't and shouldn't verbally crucify them for that, in fact we're supposed to do that.
  17. Recoveryanonymous liked a post in a topic by Nya` in Which platform(s) are you getting Destiny on?
All I want is to talk about this game and who is getting it on what platform, one person made an obvious joke about the PC Masterace and for god only knows why specific people spiraled it into a racism and antisemitism discussion. The connotation for what PC Masterace means is clear, it's always been clear, the fact that this conversation has completely degraded to this point is a sign that people need to lighten up and stop intentionally misreading things, they're out to start trouble.

    I'll have to repeat this.
But I'll have to add that those guys who hacked his account are awful. Phil has had to live with this shit for an extremely long amount of time, and this is how it ends. All of the important information on him was stolen and posted for everyone to see. It's pretty much like telling Phil Fish to take off his clothes and laughing him out. I don't know about you, but to me it looks like people are bullying a sick person and now they went too far (Basically took naked pictures of him while he was down and showed it to everyone.).
This is far more serious then anyone here might understand.. All i feel is disgusted.
