Just wondering if anyone else is going through a similar phase to myself.
You see, I just can't get into single-player games anymore, especially RPGs. Now, i used to love this stuff, it was my life once upon a time. I completed most games the day i got them, and put in A LOT of time into them too.
For example, I completed LA Noire the day i got it, on 19 hours! The same with Mass Effect 2, Far Cry 3, Dragon Age Origins/2 and many others. Now i'm lucky if i can maybe last a couple of hours in-game before i back out... And that's good! Usually i just blankly stare at all the games on my desktop, trying to motivate myself to play one. Meanwhile reminiscing on the days of Oblivion and Fallout 3 where i could play for days on end, until i eventually load up LoL or some other online game until i'm tired enough to go to bed and end these depressing sinks i find myself in.
A good example would be the super amazing, all singing all dancing, 10/10 must bang, game of the decade Skyrim. That's what some people thought of it.. Myself, i got the game and was fanboying like the rest of the world, just to find myself running around desperately trying to enjoy it whilst fighting the urge to quit out.. Don't get me wrong, i can see that the game is amazing. I can see each and every little feature i should be giggling in excitement over. Yet i couldn't get immersed into it at all, and i tried everything from role-playing to trying nearly every mod ever made! I have, to date, made roughly 50~ new characters. trying each time to enjoy the game.. I still haven't managed.
This goes for a lot of games, mostly RPGs but some other genres too. Baldur's Gate, State of Decay, Rome TW2, Kingdoms of Amalur, San Andreas, Morrowind being a few of my recent attempts at 'fun' all ending in near instant quits.
The sad thing is i would have loved these games a few years ago, which makes me sound like some old man who watched the dawn of games rise.. I'm only 17! I don't know.. Seems as though i can never get immersed anymore.
Anyone else going through this too? If so i'd like to hear about it and some games you can't seem to enjoy even though you know the 'old' you would love them.

Guild Wars 2 is not even close to death.Game is vary populated depending on which server u play.Thing about Gw2 servers is that they are separated in to groups where some of them focus just on PVE and some of PVP.I play on EU and Desolation server is always on vary high,i go there to do trains cause there are lots of people doing PVE starting from early morning but my main sever is Piken Square and its PVP focused,we are vary good in PVP.LA is always in overflow, dungeons and fractials for PVE are easy to find with dungeon finder,WvW is almost always on 20+ min queue cause of overflow.Game not dying at all and Anet said that keeps growing more and more...u just need right server to pick up

People are still playing the original Guild Wars, 9 years after it came out, and it has the same payment model as GW2. Although there's not as many playing after GW2 came out.

Biggest hurdle GW2 has is not being merged servers like the original, and not allowing people to play on more than 1 server. It hurts the server populations bad, because not many are willing to pay to change server to one that's actually alive. Even WoW has zones merged across multiple servers now to fix the population problem.

I only just started playing a few days ago, but I made the mistake of picking a "medium" server, which is basically dead. It's so dead I don't even know if the chat works, because there's never anyone talking. It ruins the experience when there's noone else around, ever. I find the XP gain is simply not high enough to tackle the level of the mobs in the zones - I assume it's because I have to do everything alone and don't get the "assist" bonus from groups. Too many group events with elits and champions, and with noone else around, they're impossible to tackle, making it impossible to get any XP at all... and doing the same lower events over and over again 50 times get boring really fast. They get boring already after the 2nd or 3rd time.

    To fix the game:
They need to fix the population problems if the game is going to survive - merge servers like everyone else. Or just share the zones across the servers like the old game (and how WoW does it), and like other games do it. The guesting system isn't enough when it's limited how often you can guest another server.

They desperately need to put in a guild finder. A game called Guild Wars that has NO system in place for people to find a guild.... just blows my mind.

It really lacks a questline that takes you through the zones (the personal story fails miserably at it, especially since it's instanced), and where the events are, and gives you the proper amount of xp so you can level up to actually take on the mobs in more than the first 10% of the zones. The complete freedom is all good and well, but I already have zones where there are "heart" events I cannot find, and have no clue how to find despite running criss-cross all over the place. The event system is all good and find, but just like Rift, it sucks when there's noone around, and when there's nothing else to do, it just becomes boring and annoying.
