  1. Rance liked a post in a topic by Aquila in Fez creator the "sell out one hit wonder" sells his company after hackers reveal his personal info.
Now before I get to what I'm about to say, I feel it's necessary to establish that this is mostly speculation and not backed up by 100% fact. But here goes:

There's some evidence suggesting that this hacking attack on Phil Fish was phony.

For one thing the hacker supposedly stole ALL of his pertinent information, including social security number and government documents, from his email server.
Even pretending that Phil Fish actually kept all of that on his email server, despite that happening Phil Fish retained control of his Twitter account long enough to post an angry rant, declare that his company and Fez were both up for sale, and then personally delete his account.

The person who also released that info claimed to be from /V/ and was both a mod of 4chan.org and the leader of Anonymous.

    1. /v/ isn't capitalized
    2. 4chan doesn't have mods, they have "janitors" that are allowed to delete posts.
    3. 4chan hates the anonymous movement nowadays.
    4. There is no leader of anonymous.

This has lead me to question the legitimacy of Phil Fish's apparent personal attack. It wouldn't be the first time a personality on the internet has claimed to be hacked.

And it certainly isn't the first time Phil Fish has said something shocking on Twitter, either out of liking to create drama or his own personal paranoia.
  2. DarkEclipse liked a post in a topic by Aquila in DC Universe vs. Champions Online, and the void of Superhero RPGs
I like superheroes. A lot. I like making my own superheroes and making stories about them. Unfortunately there's not that many games out there that allow you the freedom of making your own superhero with their own unique abilities and putting them in an open world with other people. It's kind of a romantic way of looking at MMOs I suppose. Ideally you have the PVPers who put in a lot of time and effort into building these characters to maximize their abilities to use against other people, but then you have the people who sort of want a character to have powers regardless of their effectiveness and to create a storytelling environment with other people.

Unfortunately I'm not sure that either of the current Superhero MMOs on the market are those things. I really wish there was more variety. This is such an unexpored market, and with the fall of City of Heroes I feel like I'll never know what the genre can really do having never played it myself.

There are aspects I like about DCUO, but a lot of it feels restrictive and kinda bland. And Champions allows more freedom, but it sticks a lot of the best shit behind paywalls and microtransactions. In DC I feel like no one gives a  damn about trying to convey a story outside of the typical and autonomous DC characters because you're kind of a third wheel in that setting, but in Champions Online the community... well let's face it, it's mostly composed of 15 year olds whose idea of a roleplay or dramatic story involves a lot of hypersexualization and immature character designs. Neither of these feels like a game that I can get either aspect of a roleplaying game out of. At least not to the best of its ability.

Which of the two games do you guys prefer? Is this a genre you guys would totally like to see more of or is it just doomed to fall to the wayside of fantasy-based MMOs? Is there a dark horse that will come and become the next alleged CoH?

So do you have a vibe where the bulk of the creators like Dre41 or th3Master82 are headed? I actually hit them up on XBOX Live but never heard anything back. I'm leaning towards Ps4 myself. Have you seen the screen shots of it on Ps4? It is truly jaw dropping Next Gen!

I can't wait! Hell I can;t wait for Summer Slam! At this pint the only two games I plan on getting are Shadows Of Mordor and WWE 2k15. I have to break my own rule though cause I will buy 2k15 at launch. Shadows Of Mordor I think I'm going to wait until Black Friday - Seems if you can muster the patience you can get just about ANY AAA Game released for Christmas for $39.99 on Black Friday Weekend and you can normally get them without dealing with the whole 5 am, Standing in line nonsense.

I'm gonna get it for the PS3, or try very hard to get a PS4 by the time it comes out. I'd urge the community to do the same, but I dunno how many of you would also buy it. I know Craig910 will also be getting it, I assume for the PS4 as well.
It'd be awesome to actually have a community playing this game. We could create CAWs of Angry Joe and Other Joe, and Corporate Commander. And... Demon Joe? I dunno, but we could exchange CAWs and have matches and it'll be cool.

    Oh my God.

Yeah you guys are gonna love this: a blog post that outlines all the features, a total of 89 things, that have been crippled or otherwise axed from the game.

    http://ts4news.com/post/94541924952/89-features-missing-from-the-sims-4

The game will have mod support, but not much can help a game that's fundamentally broken. Such as how other Sim's lives don't progress unless you take direct control of them, lots being restricted to flat 50x50 surfaces, all structures having to have the same foundation (no poolhouses or sheds) and restricting them to 2 floors.

Also Sims 4 apparently only allows for a RAM of 4GB, so one wonders how much one can actually mod The Sims.

I stress to as many people in the AJSA would listen, do not buy The Sims 4.

See, Sims 2 and Sims 3 actually brought some new gameplay changes to the table, which I am generally okay with. I've long since given up trying to keep up with the DLC they release, but still the games are mostly solid.

But when I heard Sims 4 cut the ability to make POOLS out of the game to justify selling it back to you as DLC, I pretty much flipped my shit. Pools have been in the game since Sims 1, and there's no discernible reason to remove them other than to make a quick buck ON TOP OF your stupid pre-order sales.

Long story short kids: If you're gonna buy a Sims game, buy it a generation or two behind what is currently out. I'm gonna try to catch up on Sims 3 DLC while Steam can reasonable mark it down, while all the fools try in vain to keep up with EA's DLC-spewing machine.

Oh also, releasing expansion packs that do nothing but add furniture or clothing items to the game is bullshit. I can go to Modthesims.com for that.

On the one hand yes, people should be patient when companies want to do quality DLC's instead of the rapid-fire DLCs of CoD and others that in reality get worked on simultaneously before the game even reaches release day.

On the other hand, heists were promised to us at the very beginning. It was a selling point of the game. As was the Content Creator, which came out months after the game's release and is still in beta form.

Note: This trailer was released in AUGUST, months before the game's released. You would think this would imply a finished, polished product instead of what we got in the early days of GTA Online.

People have a right to be angry when half of what was advertised about the game is a lie.

  12. Oracle7 liked a post in a topic by Aquila in GTA IV or GTA V
I would have to say that story-wise and character-wise, I prefer GTA IV.

Niko is a realistic and gritty character, and despite his borderline psychopathy he still plays straightman to a more insane world. The plot is driven around the hardships of his adjusting to American life using his criminal expertise to help his cousin make a name for himself, while simultaneously searching for closure for a despicable betrayal that has been haunting him for 10 years.

In GTA V, I really find that I don't like any of the main protagonists. Franklin is possibly the most likable character of the three, but I feel he's just "token black man". He's not even that entertaining, Lamar steals Franklin's spotlight more often than not while Franklin is a bit bland and whiny to me. Michael is more relatable than the others I think, because I feel sorry for him when I see how his family views and treats him despite his efforts. That being said, his efforts aren't 100% sincere and more for his own peace of mind than for his family's happiness. He's also a liar and a hypocrite. Trevor may be a psychopath who definitely shouldn't have known the truth about Michael's "death", but at the same time Michael has done a lot of underhanded things like take advantage of Franklin's ambitions and treated his family like crap at times. Trevor is the most charismatic of the three characters because he's just charming. He has a strange amount of depth for someone who's supposed to personify the typical cathartic GTA player, and at times he's even wiser and more earnest than Michael. Though obviously he's so far off the handle that he can't be related to that well, and he is downright scary if you think about it.

GTA IV also had significantly more missions than GTA V. V has about 69 main missions and IV has 94. V makes up for its length by having more awesome side-missions than IV, but I still felt the main story was a bit lacking.

If I added in GTA Online to the mix, GTA V is overall better than GTA IV. But as a singleplayer experience, I think IV is superior.
  13. Lightning liked a post in a topic by Aquila in Grand Theft Auto Online Shark Cards now available
I'm gonna add this to the list of cards in the opening post, but there's a new card availabe: The Megalodon

It's a card that costs... wait for it...

    $99.99

That's $100 actual dollars. For how much you ask?

    $8 Million.

So if I buy the $200,000 card instead of two $100,000 cards, I would have gotten the same amount for a dollar less. And two $200,000 cards costs the same as the $500,000 card. So I'm assuming the cards have a save value of a little less than $100,000 per extra tier. Buying two $500,000 cards costs the same as one $1.25 Million card... but you get an extra $250,000.

$100,000 may seem like a big number, but lemme tell you from experience that it goes VERY quickly. Especially on cars. Even on ammo, it depletes fast.

So am I out of line for saying that there's pretty much no value in these tiers? You could spend the same amount and only get a very small value above the previous tier, until you start paying $50 for these things and then you get like an extra million dollars above what you could get for the same dollar amount of the previous tiers. So I basically have to hand out lump sums of money instead of... y'know... MICRO transacting. Like damn, at least have the $20 tier be worth a damn.

So two $50 cards is worth $7 million, but one $100 card is worth $8 Million. So the value doesn't continue to scale. You're paying another $50 and you get about the same tier value as the previous tier. Which altogether is like... $2.25 Million over buying EVERYTHING individually?

I've never before in a game seen so much dollar amounts add up to so little. Especially considering what it costs. $100 a pop? Are you out of your fucking mind? Was announcing this card such a fucking focus of these updates? We could've gotten some of this Spring content sooner, but you had to set up a new payment plan so people could keep HEMORRHAGING time and money into what's essentially a beta test. Oh and let's nerf all the payouts for jobs and races while we're at it. Because God forbid people can earn money in the game without paying ACTUAL CURRENCY to have nice things. "The $60 initial price isn't enough, give us more money if you want to experience GTA Online fully."

GTA V is starting to really get on my nerves. It's a beautifully put together game, that's for damn sure. But beneath all the shiny bells and whistles it seems so hollow and vapid compared to their previous games. Almost soulless. I really hope this isn't a trend for Rockstar in the future. They visibly put a lot of effort into this game, but it seemingly deceives you with a shorter and less fulfilling singleplayer campaign in which like 3 heists are the only missions in the game that actually REWARD you and a multiplayer that has been nerfed, riddled with glitches and exploits, indoctrinated into a scam of a microtransaction plans, and if the heists coming out in June aren't worth a damn then I daresay that GTA Online has already reached the pinnacle of what fun there is to be had and unless you've got deep fucking pockets I suggest you move on to another online game.

I know that's not really a great attitude for someone who administrates the GTA Online crew to have, but I think I care more about sparing people from this frustration and moneygrubbing than I do trying to Pied Piper them into a wolves' den.

Or a SHARK den, in this case.

I dunno what rank I am "officially" in the PS3 crew. I've been hanging around Craig and the other members of the AJSA, but I'm not sure how capable I would be organizing events or whatever responsibilities befall being an officer. But then again, GTAO will be getting heists soon and I plan on hitting that pretty hard when it comes out. So all in due time I suppose.

Also, Lossar and the other members bring up an excellent point about keeping membership private. Believe you me, I've run into my fair share of griefers in Los Santos. We don't need a free warrant for that kind of negativity.

I hardly have the qualifications in animation or hardware to run an operation like so many Youtubers or Livestreamers do, but I figure it's worth a shot just to try and get noticed and maybe get a little experience for if I wanna do something bigger in the future. But for now it's just a small operation.
Details about when and what I'm streaming can generally be found in my signature, but I'll keep this first post updated on anything I'm planning on doing.

The best we can really hope for is that Joe and the other officers regain interest when the heists get released and restructure the crew with more dedicated officers.

Y'all are free to make your own crews, and even organize unofficially with the AJSA tag, but it just won't be recognized as the Official crew.

Since always? I've always seen his shows as a series of loosely-connected tangents in order to arrive at a preordained conclusion that is usually shocking and controversial. He uses subjective backward-ass logic and comes off as condescending and snobbish. But that's my opinion of him. He's not totally WRONG, but I think his "scientific method" starts at the conclusion and works its way back to the theory, then he simply flips the logic so it seems like he arrived at a conclusion when in reality he merely justified where he was intending to assert from the beginning. And yes I realize that it's a web show and that most web shows are inherently designed like that, but he seems more disingenuous to me when he presents it as scientific or "educated" fact.

I don't understand the point you're trying to make. Are you saying that news is 100% lies but someone with a microphone and a flash program is 100% truth? Whose biography? And please don't turn this into a political debate. That's irrelevant in this discussion. My bad for bringing up Fox News, but The Enquirer is a tabloid magazine, not a newspaper.

How very Sith of you to say. :B
"Either you are our allies, or you are our enemies."
The world ain't black and white. I've said before the argument itself is valid, but Game Theories presenting it is what I mainly have a problem with. And there are more factors in the gaming industry besides the consumer for one to jump to any conclusion and say that one group is SOLEY responsible for the decline of the industry as a whole. That's called scapegoating, and it's a fallacy used by people who want to assert their point as the one truth and that anything that doesn't agree with them completely is wrong.

My mind on Brock Lesnar has been changed more than once.

When he first appeared I thought "oh joy, another big guy that's going to squash everything .... haven't seen that before *cough*Goldberg*cough*" but it turns out he was actually pretty decent.

Then he moved from WWE to another sport I absolutely love .... MMA. I thought "christ is this guy going to suck camels anus, he'll get beat to shit" and he proved me wrong again. He grew on me there too.

So I quite like Brock and wouldn't be too bothered if he did get booked to beat the streak.

I'll go on record, and upset some folks in the process, and say that he SHOULD beat it. Taker, as much as he is loved by a lot of people, is so past it he can only manage to wrestle one match a year. His body is completely fucked. He needs to take a loss and retire full time.

Cena and Bray. I'm wanting Bray to win, not because I hate Cena although i'm not a fan, but because ... as someone said above ... he's one of the best heel characters we've seen in WWE for a long time. There hasn't been many heels that people have loved more than some faces. Austin, Jake Roberts, Scott Hall, Piper (well, for me anyway) and Michaels. It would be a shame to have Cena booked to ruin that momentum they have built.

The Shield v's Old Age Outlaws and what used to be Kane. I can't put into words how wrong this match is. I can't put into words how wrong it is for one of the greatest tag teams in history to have come back as an absolute embarrassment.

Look, I know they like to bring in one of the Legends every so often, take Hogan for example, but they really need to stop. I cringe watching them have that "1 more match" they look slow, they look old and fan service is not worth that shame.

New Age Outlaws were, at one time, absolutely fantastic to watch ... in the attitude era ... now, not only are they looking past it but this new "era" doesn't suit them at all. They look out of place.

Much like when Kevin Nash came back.

This all girl battle royal. Yeah, looks good on paper, army of girls in the ring YAY... I was kinda hoping Tamina and AJ would have split and this would be them 2 going at it.

Andre the Giant battle royal. Could they have pushed Big Show anymore? I give it to Miz because fuck logic it would be hilarious.

Triple H and Bryan. I'm hoping Bryan wins but with Pauls ego who the hell knows.

Triple threat championship match..... It's either going to be Bryan or Triple H that wins this. I wanted to cheer Orton on but he's gone from the Viper to the asskisser in recent weeks and I can't stand asskissing even kayfabe asskissing.

I doubt Batista will win though.

I've got a feeling Triple H's golden shovel is gonna bury 3 wrestlers on that night, and John Cena is gonna bury one the best Heel's I've seen in a long time in the WWE. I am looking forward to Brock Lesnar vs The Undertaker, should be a decent match (booking for this match has been terrible though) Daniel Bryan is going to buried, call me a cynic but Triple H just loves to involve himself in the main event even when he's "retired", and try's to use the current "hot shit" to put himself over even more, sounds a lot like Cena, who can not wrestle for hot toast and the WWE keeps shoving down our throats, he's pretty much Lex Luger 2.0.

I feel like the build-up to Wrestlemania 30 has been terrible, I've not had any or seen any "shit's gonna get real at Mania" moments, the booking has been pretty bad for quite a few matches, it's a shame as I love wrestling and I just feel Mania 30 is gonna be pretty lackluster compared to previous Mania's,  Hopefully in the Main event if "The Cerebral-ah Assassin-ah" wins, we see a crowd reaction similar to Wrestlmania 20's with Brock Lesnar vs Goldberg. There's a lot to discuss with this, sorry if this was a rant-ish to anyone reading

Yeah I pretty much agree that the booking and hype for this match has been pretty terrible. And yeah I'm worried about Cena burying Bray Wyatt at the show. I mean Cena's lost at Wrestlemania before, but I think management is gonna put him over since they don't have much else going for them other than the Streak match and the WWE Heavyweight Title match.

Though speaking of that match, talk about a botched return. I dunno if they were planning on having Batista become a heel, but there's really no other way they could've rolled with the reaction to his Royal Rumble victory. If Daniel Bryan doesn't beat Triple H, I can see this being a turning point for a lot of fans as well as the setup for a horrible Triple Threat title match. Two heels in a main event is bad enough, three is worse. I expect people to start walking out unless they put the Undertaker's match dead last.

Undertaker's match is always the best of any Wrestlemania's though, and with Brock Lesnar I fully expect an explosive and physical competition. Though I'm 9/10ths sure that Undertaker will still win. They're just never gonna end the streak. But if there's one guy who can do it, Brock's definitely the guy.

Wrestlemania XXX is this Sunday, hosted by Hulk Hogan and featuring matches such as Brock Lesnar vs. The Undertaker and Daniel Bryan vs. Triple H.

I follow this stuff and I'm mostly looking forward to the show, but there are a few problems I have with the matches on the card and WWE's shaky storytelling over the past few months.

Anyone going to be watching the show? It's going to be on Pay-Per-View and also on WWE's new online service WWE Network. I believe the first week of WWE Network is free, so if that promotion is still up there will probably be a lot of people who sign up just to watch Wrestlemania and then cancel payment before the trial expires. I'm also concerned that the high stream volume will crash the network and I'll be screwed out of watching the PPV, this happened last month and I don't know if WWE is prepared for Wrestlemania-level traffic.

    Thoughts anyone?
