This has been a repeating topic as of late. So while I do sympathise that games have been degrading in quality over the recent years as a whole, there are some genuine gems to be loved amongst them. It's the same way that original games from the very first systems up until, say, the 2000's were. There were a lot of games, but few were memorable. But it's those few that you remember that make the impact.

The same can be said over the last four to five years. Tell me what games you remember over that period? Tell me why you remembered those games? Now tell me, what games haven't you bought and how many can you name of those?

There are copious amounts of titles in the gaming industry today, being released, reviewed, and revised. Of those titles there's likely to be 10-15 on the list that you'll remember this year, and of those there's likely to be only 7-8 that you bought, as an average gamer. From those, you're likely going to hate two, appreciate three, like another two, and love one.

The rest of the innumerable games released this year will fall from the public eye in a matter of days or weeks.

What I'm trying to say is this - there's a lot coming out, and what you're going to hear about is what's either bad or what's good. And as Boogie2988 said it the other day, you can shake hundreds of people's hands in one day, and be slapped across the face once. You're going to remember the name of the person that slapped you instead of the names of those that shook your hand.

  12. BSB liked a post in a topic by Rainbow Dash in Rating age's for Games
I think parenting is the main way of doing things. It may seem obvious but people seem to forget easily.

A normal, healthy, mature child will be able to distinguish fact from fiction and it is up to the parents to decide if they feel their child is capable to play mature games. The ratings (in my opinion) should be seen as guidelines, which can (where appropriate) be deviated from. Of course, in law this is not true as you simply can not buy an M rated game if you're under 17 (legally). Which is for the better, as it should eliminate the age old blame of: ''My son has played violent video games and has now gone and killed a bunch of classmates!'' since it is the parent that would have bought the game in the first place. And if they got it another way, it is still the parent that has not kept an eye on their child. (Even though not a single clear connection has been put in place in regards to violence in video games and violence in real life.)

In short, I think it is up to parents to decide whether they let their children play ''mature'' games. If you're a good parent, you'll know what to do. Take the ratings as a guideline, know what your children play and keep an eye on them.

Read blogs, vlogs, clogs, cogs, mogs, trogs, logs, and look into the fog.
No really, read blogs, vlogs, logs, and dive into the fog. I don't exaggerate this at all. The best way to learn is to lose some ships and get right into the nitty gritty while reading up on the stupid mistakes other players have made. Also look at the experiences that other players have had with the game - there's literally endless niches that you can fill in the game, it's amazing. And as stated before, it's a hyper-realistic simulation on real-world economy and politicking without any of the pussy-footing around that you have to do for moral reasons in the real world.

In EVE, you are the reckoning judgement of death or life, - or a dumbass that mined without looking and got blown up.

Also, starting off, you're not going to make much isk. (In-Game cash.) You'll get a couple mill on your first day. While that's an amazing amount in other games, real-world inflation effects take a toll. Where in 2014 $600,000,000 is the basic cash conversion for $20 USD, it was equivalent to $300,000,000 in 2007. Money has exploded, but it's okay. Depending on what you find you like to do in the first few days or weeks, you're going to want to try and test all of the waters. Military, Mining, Exploration, everything. That's good - but you're going to need to focus down for something in the long run.

If you like PvP or the concept of running around in a super fast frigate fighting other super fast frigates and adapting on the fly to try to overtake another player, Faction Warfare is a fantastic start. It's also a great way to get into making $100,000,000 an hour if you pull it off right with the right people. But, I warn you, you'll need to be a full member first to get into Faction Warfare.

Speaking of Full Member, there's certain skills you can't train into without being a full account first - and by extension there's certain skills that are fanatically compounded into days or weeks of training, just to reach Level 5 training on them, to get to the next tier of training on your Skill books. But don't worry - once you've got the first month's skills down you're pretty set for whatever niche you're adapting into. I warn you though, after those first few weeks, don't pussyfoot around in everything too much. You're likely going to be focusing in on one of four paths. Mining, Missioning, Faction Warfare, or Exploration, and perhaps a mix between FW, Exp, and Missioning at the most and Mining and Exploration as well.

Corporations are your friends. Literally, they're your best friends in the game. They're the greatest people you will meet, and your worst enemies if they're treacherous bastards like they normally turn out to be - but don't be afraid of that, just play it smart and keep what you can't afford to lose in your own hangar instead of the corp hangar.

There are a lot of guides defining your first weeks and months if you let them, but you're really not limited by anything but imagination, resources, and time - and in a massive part ingenuity. Speaking of which, I read about a new player on Reddit the other day that just started a week ago or so, 2/2/14, about I think. The man made over 2.2 billion isk in the period of two weeks. You know that inflation rate I talked about? Throw that right there, that's impressive for a brand new player. And he had the entire thing plotted out before hand and grabbed some willing hands to help him stab at the world for the sheer sake of it. And he gutted them dry, skinned them to bone, and watched the tears flow. It was glorious. But that's a different story for another time that you'll find out in the future.

If I scared you with anything at all, I hope not. D: I'm really hope that you enjoy EVE as much as I do, there's really so much to do and have fun with if you have a little patience and a good head on your shoulders.

    Cheers to ya newbro!

Lots of reasons people don't use Teamspeak.

Some of us have families, wives, girlfriends, boyfriends and along with those some of us have kids. We can't be sat in Teamspeak even if we wanted to .... which some of us don't.

Some people listen to music or have films/tv shows on as background noise while they game and don't want to be sat on Teamspeak.

Some people don't like using chat programs.

Some people have mentioned they used Teamspeak but quit using it because of a couple of idiots on there.

Some people game for a bit of peace and quiet after a shit day at school, work, college, university or nocturnal activity prohibited by law.

Point is .... we are fully aware there is a Teamspeak server but a lot of people won't be using it. For myself, I do have a lot of spare time for gaming but not for sitting around on Teamspeak. I have other things going on while i'm gaming and other people are in the same situation.

    Hi guys.
So i'm a complete sucker for cinematics. I love the effects, hype, the compressed message in a cinematic. Espacially video game cinematics has some of the coolest in my mind.
I have been searching and watching so many videos with these cinematics and i have come to the conclusion that i can't really rank them in an order of greatest ever made. But i still have a few that rank as my top.
This is my top cinematic's of games, what is yours?

Alas, my soul so consumed by the first conqueror did rot away, a willowing hollow of its former self. Once the former master lay dead and my corpse was disposed of, I could see quite clearly in the abysmal dark of the afterworld. There, the hill, a crowning jewel of this world of conquest. It lay desecrated by the masses over the millenia, throw pillows and pictures, dead sloth souls and carcasses - shadows of the former takers. A face of the unknown and the unpredictable is what this hill has come to represent.

It sickened my hollow soul, unraveled me. My mind, so long gone from the world of understanding and arcane pursuit, devoured itself time and again. How had this come to pass? How. How? How?! I cannot remain here, lingering amongst the wreckage any longer. From the depths I shall rise once more, - with a willful strand I reach, a finger of curiosity to every remaining item, corpse, bone, .. EVERYTHING. The hill itself is forced alive by the hollow emotion of wrath. Churning and twisting, the land trembles and the dead rise. The hopeless become hopefully vengeful, hungering for a taste of throw-pillows and paintings.

The walls are slowly torn asunder by the sloths of reckoning, the pillows burned by the friction of the faces of anger. The former kings of the hill rise and return to remove the unwanted paintings. While I, I myself see to it that the men hired to refurnish the hill are burned alive for their horrible taste for exterior and interior design.

Finally, I see fit to remove my soul from the equation entirely. The withered blight of my heart is now nothing more than a curse upon this land, twisting away the minds and souls of any other that comes here. Madness, madness is what I've become.

So in my madness, I alone now own this hill. Insanity, Insanity now owns this hill.
