  3. Completed: The Hong Kong Massacre Platform: PC Plays like a fast paced Hotline Miami that trades the melee combat and stealth elements for Hong Kong dive, rolls, and slow motion filled shoot outs. Pick from duel pistols, a shotgun, rifle, or a single and later upgrade-able to duel SMGs. Base gameplay is a lot of fun if you want something simple. Suffers from a lack of variety, four dull boss fights that all play the same, same three challenges on ever level. Occasionally some movement issues, like diving over balconies to other buildings not working, or enemies that don't really react to things movement wise. Just standing around while you are shooting in the room or even right by them from a different room. They will usually react and shoot if they get a shot, it just looks odd and I mistook quite a few of them for environment props. Completed: Mad Stalker: Full Metal Force Platform: Playstation Playstation version, visual update no story cutcenes from PC Engine. Robot beat em up. Not too interesting. Short, one main character to use (five to unlock with a code but they have less moves), limited enemy variety and some awkward height differences. Completed: Front Mission 5 Platform: PS2 Completed: Choutetsu Brikinger Ironclad Platform: Neo Geo CD (PC)

  8. Completed: Assault Suit Leynos (2015) Platform: PC Completed: Rolling Thunder 3 Platform: Genesis Side scrolling shooter that I find much more playable than the previous incredibly cheap arcade games. Basic move set of shooting forward, shooting diagonally upwards, a jump that you can often use to swing yourself up to the higher level of the stage, and using your knife or special weapon. Short motorcycle and jet ski level to break up the on foot sections. Scenes in between the stages tell a dull generic story for a game of this style. Ok for its time but nothing particularly memorable.

  14. Welcome. Most of the conversation has moved to the Discord. Really depends on what you were playing. A lot of games were fairly simple or easy, even more so when you say you are only going back 20 years as opposed to 30-40, and many of the ones really having your grind your skill were often designed to kill you with profit in mind or just due to random regional changes. And even going back further than 20 years ago reading almost anything about how games were designed and the environments people worked in tended to show they were still heavily profit oriented be that to please higher ups or just because they need to be able to continue to exist. I'm not sure what you mean by this they have basically never been cheaper.

  17. Welcome to the AJSA. Most of the community currently uses the Discord to interact instead of the forums.
  18. Completed: Unavowed Platform: PC "some good character moments for the main character" characters* Completed: Omega Boost Platform: Playstation Completed: Vanark Platform: Playstation Star Fox style flight shooter, even complete with the worse ground based mission and a couple open sections instead of on rail levels (even fly under water at one point). Different weapons to equip into two slots and four underused wingmen to choose from. Each wingmen has stats for combat ability, combat experience, enemy analysis, and root analysis, I have no idea what some of that does and can only guess at others. Short and a decent game but controls aren't as tight as you would likely want them to be and the loss of the barrel roll hurts. Odd sections where you briefly and needlessly move through your ship Resident Evil tank control style for some story bits and once to explore another area for about a minute. No screenshots with computer currently not being able to start.
  19. Completed: Burning Force Platform: Arcade
  20. Had some issue with it a few months ago where it wouldn't start. Hadn't tried it since then.

  23. Completed: Pokemon Shield Platform: Switch Some nice quality of life improvements with accessing a box anywhere to swap Pokemon, fast travel, no move wasting map traversal skills. Gives no useful information on many of the moves requiring you to look them up online along with how to evolve Pokemon. Dynamaxing is uninteresting, limited in use, and strategy and requires giving Pokemon an item to make it better for them. You need a higher level active Pokemon to catch Pokemon even if your badge level should let you catch them. EV training is still terrible. Gym challenges are too limited and its odd that even near the end of the game so many other trainers and story battles are still using 1-5 Pokemon. There is basically no plot until the end of the game or any of the "dungeons" or difficult areas I remember older games having and what plot there is is a lot more rushed, childish, and has basically nothing to do with anything typically going on compared to the previous games I've played. The world and areas you explore feel very small for the visual changes.
