    ShaunOTEast,
we've played together quite a bit over the years,
my PR nick is [OD-S]Litoralis .
I also volunteer as the lead tech support volunteer for the realitymod.com forums.  If anyone ever needs help getting PR up and running, hit me up over there ,
    I'm [R-COM]LITOralis.nMd on the forums.
PR could work for the AJSA community, at least a subset of you guys, the game appeals to FPS players looking for less derpyness than the commercial successes, and less MilSim realism than the Arma2/3 community.  THat middle ground allows for a good gaming experience that has lasting appeal.

    regards,

I suppose you could say that, but I think PR balances the gameplay and realism alot better than ArmA does and to me seems a lot less niche like and MilSim. In fact the devs have the principle of gameplay over realism whenever they add something to the mod.

This might be a big request but does anyone have Battlefield 4 and are willing to trade for the games I posted before? I have others games as well, willing to list and trade more than one for BF4.

    Hello all!

Shaun, here, saw a previous thread by johnnythehero about giving away a copy of Garry's Mod since he got it on Humble Bundle; So I just got an idea to create this thread where members can post offers to other members without creating a dozen threads for specific giveaways/free games/cd-keys/etc since alot of us have games from Humble Bundles, sales, or just old cd-keys lying around that fell into misuse.

    Guidelines (give feedback if possible)
    1. DO NOT POST CD-KEYs/GIFT LINKS HERE - Instead, send it through PMs
    2. First come, first serve - the first 'bidder' that calls out on the offer gets the offer.
    3. Be cool - don't call out on every, single, offer, thanks
    4. Quote your Offerer - This way if there are more than two offers of the same game, nobody is confused.
    5. Refresh! - Cos I will post offers in OP and other stuff.

I'll start! I have a bunch of old humble bundles games, making it rain~~~

OFFERS MOVED TO STEAM GAMES AND GIFTING THREAD.
    REFER TO EDIT. SORRY~~~
    Happy Holidays,
    Shaun

EDIT: Ahhh dang it, looks like I'm not that original, somehow overlooked this This. Moving all of my offers there! Sorry mods! Please lock/delete :S

  17. ShaunOTEast liked a post in a topic by Teapot 228 in Project Reality Battlefield 2 Players Thread
Started this thread after a moderator suggestion in the voting thread for PR. There seemed to be several of us who already played PR, but not much outside interest, and it is unlikely that any formal/official support for the game will arise. That said, even if just 6-8 of us form up and roll as a dedicated squad, we could all make some new friends and do some serious damage. I don't really have a group to play with in PR right now, I just try to look for people I know from experience are good teammates/squad leaders who frequent the same servers I do. I'm not always on at the same time as them though, so I frequently get stuck with people I don't necessarily know/trust.

The PR community for the most part is more trustworthy, team-oriented and helpful than other games, but it's still hard to run with people you don't play with regularly. I'm hoping we can even just get a squad-sized group to change that. So, what I'm hoping to do here is gather everyone who plays/would be interested in playing (PR has a steep-ish learning curve but the community is very noob friendly, and though I will never profess to be more than an average-skilled player, I'm more than willing to teach what I know), find out how our schedules mesh, and hit the battlefield!

If ya'll like, we can start by playing co-op (humans vs. AI), especially if we have a few new people, to get a feel for how we work as a team and also ease any new players we might have into the game, then hit the more populated Deployment (PvP) servers once we've got a solid, confident roster.

So, if you're a veteran player or just an intrigued FNG, post here with your in-game name, a little about your experience with the game (if any)  and let's make it happen! My in-game handle is Teapot228, no clan tag (yet...)

If anyone has any questions about the game, again, I wouldn't call myself an expert, but I have been playing for many years and am always willing to impart what knowledge I do have. Anything to get more players for my favorite MP game!

One last thing, I'm putting a link below to the PDF for the Project Reality 1.0 Manual. This 38-page document might seem like a daunting read, and a lot of the information might be a bit overwhelming, but trust me when I say that reading through it a few times (paying particular attention to infantry-focused things like kits and such) will make your foray into this new world MUCH easier. PR has a lot of small things that it uses to get around the aging engine and still provide some manner of simulation, and knowing these things before you, say, try to operate a tank or a mounted gun/rocket launcher will give you an edge and make you easier to train. That said, the best training is to get a good squad of people who are willing to help and just play. The game seems complicated, and it is compared to the average shooter, but you'll be surprised how quickly you'll pick it up provided you accept the advice and training of the veterans.

And whatever you do, start with infantry and the Rifleman kit. Learn the basics of the controls and how things work, read the manual, then try your hand at armor, flying or advanced infantry kits. Medic should be the first kit you learn/try after Rifleman, because a good medic is worth 5 Rifleman in my opinion.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before... but what are the current youtube alternatives?

How good are vimeo, daily motion and others?

Even if this content ID matching issue is solved, this is still a preview of what is to come.  One day, youtube will do this again and will not let up, it'll let its youtubers (aka the ones who made youtube what it is) starve and die no matter how hard they bang on youtubes gates and demand refunds or reverse of policy.  Angry Joe has to have a plan B and C... heck even plan D for good measure because with all these copyright/internet control bills, the internet will become a more dangerous and unpredictable place.
  19. Kaz32 liked a post in a topic by ShaunOTEast in Joe is pissed and is going full assault on Youtube, although Google is the one at fault here. Still, Joe has to dispute the claims for now.
Nooooooo, a lawsuit should be the last place anybody should be going to, in fact, I don't there is anything we can do with our money at this point, or even a petition because god knows how useful they have been in the past.
Look at the uproar in response to every other unpopular change YouTube has done in the past, and has it changed? No, and I really don't think Google will, which is always the question: What now and what next?
However, looking forward, I think, with the rise in popularity for Twitch TV, which I think many gaming YouTubers will migrate to SHOULD Youtube not end this Content ID fiasco. And should this happen, I am 100% sure Twitch will be more than gladly enough to provide a Partner Program for amazing reviewers, Let's Players, and critics like TB and AJ.

Also, here is video from Adam Sessler that discusses this issue with great detail with many other industry 'experts' (PR people, devs, YouTubers, etc), I suggest all of you watch it in its entirety as this affects all of us as gamers. *previously linked by Twisted Chi*

And to Joe, I say don't worry, whatever you do for the channel and the interests of other gaming YouTubers, we will be behind you!

EDIT: whoops, video already linked by Twisted Chi refer to 2nd page of thread, sorry sorry :S

I've been playing PR for years!  It's an awesome game/mod and it's been a definite highlight in my gaming experience. I've been since drawn away to other games but the PR community is still active and vibrant! I'd defininately recommend it to anyone who's into a team/asset/squad based structured/tactical shooter. With all the games the AJSA is committed to now (and in the future)  I don't know what the likelihood of having any "formal" AJSA involvement could be, but that doesn't mean a bunch of you guys can't go off and give it a try, if your curious. Highly recommended!

In the event that a group of you gentlemen decide to run with it, go ahead and post a thread in the PC section of the forums! Be advised, this isn't a "run and gun" and rounds can often go on for hours!

    Hello AJSA!
This is my request and introduction to
    Battlefield 2: Project Reality!

Project Reality is a realism total conversion modification for DICE's award winning Battlefield 2 based on the Refractor 2 Engine. The mod focuses on realistic combined arms warfare and teamwork within a modern or unconventional fighting force such as the Canadian Forces or Hamas!
Project Reality v1.0 currently includes 40 maps, 13 unique conventional and unconventional factions, and countless amount of weapons and vehicles (I can't even remember/count). The game has Singleplayer 'Co-op' Mode, Multiplayer 'Co-op' and Competitive Multiplayer and is consistently updated by the devs (though, the 'R-DEVs' have a reputation of slow and steady progress). Anyhow, here are the Pros and Cons:
    Pros
Extremely team oriented gameplay, perfect for the AJSA!
Lots of replayablity through the many different assets and ways you can approach the objective and enemies.
    100 man servers
Extremely helpful and friendly players (due to small playerbase), and I'm one of them!
Massive maps of up to 4x4 km combined arms maps
Minimods and consistent updates! (Vietnam! Falklands! World War 2!)
Mumble integration that adds local real time in-game chat, squad chat, inter-squad chat, squad-commander chat, and more.
Community organized events by the various clans within Project Reality (Scenario Sundays, One Life Events, Forgotten Honour Tournaments)
Community Modding and Factions! (Syrian Uprising, Private Security Contractors, etc)

    Cons
Good amount of bugs and glitches
Server stability is not too fantastic to say the least.
Considerably large learning curve (good for some I suppose)
Aging graphics (BF2 was released in 2005!)
Lack of ingame clan support (tags allowed, however)
No stat tracking outside of matches (only in games!!!)
    Slightly slow gameplay.
Low player population during weekdays (2-3 servers populated)

    Videos!

    PR 1.0 Trailer!

    Montage!

Pure, Raw, and Unadulterated Gameplay! (Oldied but a Goodied)

That's all for now, and even if the AJSA isn't completely interested, feel free to check the mod out at realitymod.com

    Cheers,
    ShaunOTEast
