Unpin Threads that has last post from 2014, unless essential to AJSA Rules some how. We have 2 threads for "Find a team/member" and 2 for "Chain of command". I see no reason for copy threads being pinned. No reason to keep personal favorite thread not updated since 2014 also.

No but it's a Blizzard game. So everyone that plays Diablo SC WoW and the Card game will play that as well. The game is a lot about Teamfights. But there are no Items and there are always the same skills on the heroes. The only thing you change on your hero are the Buffs to your Skills. Having that in mind you have to understand that there is little you can change after you pick your heroes. Basically it's even more Draft dependent and there is less to do wrong with your Character. Blizzard sure knows ways to make a game playable for everyone, without them to have to actually learn something. I would say this game is very noob friendly. All you need to know about it, is how Jungle works. That it's all for pushing the lane. It's nothing like LoL or Dota.

I think the only reason this game will succeed is that it is a Blizzard game and they also dumbed down MOBA as hard as they could. So I hope it takes all the noobs from LoL and Dota in to a place they can have fun.
Also their great idea to make Ammo for the towers is bizarre. I see so many times that towers are on 0 ammo and lanes are taken for free. I don't know who made that idea happen.

You know what scratch that. This game is actually not about teamfights. It's just tower pushing. As a matter of fact I think it's more of a Tower defense game then a MOBA game.

I believe that only teams that were active on the TeamSpeak and training revived a channel. My team excluded since we are not constantly active anymore. Channels were given to 2 teams that I constantly see training. The Officer's team is using the Staff channel for their training. The AJSA team has/had theirs. Anyone can create a team according to the AJSA rules even if he has 1 player inside. I don't think that if that would be the case that team will get a Channel, ever. LOL used to have lots of channels and team channels as well, after the changes they don't. I seen only one team there be consistent. Usually this is done so that the team has it's own space to train and to avoid having to tell everyone else that wants to play with them to go play with some one else. Weather the AJSA staff should or should not allow this I can't tell. There is the option to pay the AJSA and get your private room. Then you stay off the Dota channel. Then there is the option to just use other TS or other Voice communications as a team. That is about it. Both of those solutions will make Team players get out of the Dota Channel section. All I am wondering is how come we had so many teams and there are just 3 on the TS.
All teams should have equal rights. We can apply same rules that go for entering a tournament. Teams need to be of 5 and be registered on the Site as a team. They should also be active and seen training. This is easy, everyone can see people on the TS that are regularly there. We know each other. About the naming of the channels and the infrastructure:
I personally do not care about names a lot, except if they are offensive. I agree having your team name as the channel name is making others feel less appreciated as members or teammates that don't have their own channel. If you want to really do this for the Dota 2 teams you should decide if you really want to allow them to pick the name for the channel or should it be just Team 1,2,3 and so on. You can create a Password protected channel called Teams. Then put there team 1-4. Set one password for all team channels and just tell it to the Team Captains. I doubt that I will see more then 4 active teams in the near future, training at the same time.

However there is a problem we need to address. When there are teams training and people that just want to play and have fun. When the two collide nothing good will come of it.
  5. RedDeath liked a post in a topic by digitalblade in Captains Mode, best choice for 5 man Groups
Captains Mode, why it sucks some times and why it's the best choice to go as 5 man Group.
    Basics:
Dota is a game that is based on it's heroes, Skill-Builds and item Choices. But most of all how all of those things combine with each other. That is why I love Dota, because it is best won by team play. It's true that in the end it could be decided by individual players skill difference, but for the most part, it is also a Macro game.
What Macro means, is looking thing from a bigger perspective and knowing what will be the consequences of your choices. In Dota the biggest part of that means Drafting (later on key Item picks on each Hero), according the plan that you made before the game. While it is true only a few Pro Dota teams can Draft whatever and play it. Most of them can't and they know it.
So don't just assume you can pick anything and pull it off. You need to focus on your goal during the Draft.
Before you do that you really need to find out what your game Plan is and how it might get countered. Then discuss that with your 5 man Group, before you start the game. Decide who takes what position and make sure he can play the heroes you will aim for. If you are trying to make up strategy, draft and find out what your team can actually pull off all at the same time you are doing it wrong.
Try to stick to your strategy because:
    If you aim for this:

    then decide you wanted this:

you might end up with this:

WTF?!? Now you have no idea what you are playing and how to score right?

    Drafting:
Picks, where you shine if you have strategy prior the Game and fall apart if you decide to go with the flow.

First of all don’t just pick heroes based only on the fact that your team should have one offlane, mid , carry and 2 supports and they should lane well on their own. This only will work when you play against weaker teams and you will win based on your player individual skills.

Don’t just decide on 2 heroes combo and that they have good Combo and hope that you will 100% get to pick them both and they will never be countered. Figure out backup heroes, that can replaced banned heroes that you aimed for and are similar.

If you are going to start building a Team Fight combo you need to start either around your Carry pick or without it. This is decided by choosing a Late carry or not. Obviously you can’t pick a Team Combo for Fights around the carry that will be online in 30 minutes. So you need to take team fight without it to give him/her space to farm. Or pick a carry that don’t need late game and use him in fights early on.

    About pushing Strategies:

Well everyone that hates them should know that according to TI4 they win games and millions, so yea they’re super effective. But they are hard to pull off and require a lot of training on the players with those heroes. Because they involve a lot of supporting heroes and some carry heroes played as non-carry most of the players have problems with them(or never played them like that). The good thing about them is that Drafters in CM do not see them or ignore them. So you can easy pick all the pushing heroes you need. Unless you are playing against more experienced Drafter. If you ever decide to go for that make sure your players know what they are suppose to be doing or else it will never work.

Bans, a tool to make you strategy work and your enemy’s work less (you can never stop it).

    The first 2 banns.

Considered my most drafters “let’s bann what I hate” banns. Wrong! The first 2 banns are crucial. You should aim for the top 2 heroes that will ruin your Strategy, not just randomly banning heroes that you hate. Set your feeling a side and thing for your goal and what you are aiming to achieve in this game. You want to make your Strat works and you know nothing about your enemy Strats yet. Disable the top 2 heroes that may ruin you’re aimed team line up.

The rest of the bans are decided by this. Are you capable to see what kind of combination are they going for or not. If you can’t see throw their strategy for the love of god don’t just bann randomly. Just keep banning heroes that will prevent your line up, from doing whatever you want it to do. Try to be aware of very effective combinations, so you can bann them out when you see them.

Try to never pick a hero just because you could not bann him. This will destroy your Team Play and unless you can really use him it’s a fail pick and they probably can replace it with something similar. In the end you are doing more harm to your team then to theirs.
I am not talking about direct picks and bans because that is left for you to decide. If anyone want to add something feel free to comment.
  6. Elektronas liked a post in a topic by digitalblade in Brainstorm about possible Massive events in Dota 2
I like to start a discussion about what you guy think we can do as a guild in big scale. We all know that Dota 2 is a 5 vs 5 game , so it is difficult to get lot's of people in the same time on the TeamSpeak server and involved in a big scale event. Preferable the event should be something that can be casted with the guild streamers and should be interesting for non Dota 2 players as well. Something with which we could get views and awake interest in Dota 2.

My first suggestions will be that we should try to educate the guild players about basic meta and what you should be doing at the position that you are playing. There is no point of individual coaching. Just make an event in which you stream how you should play the different roles. If you don't stream it you can ask the people that join the event to spectate the game you are playing. Have them all go in the same TS channel and discuss what the player is doing and why. All you need is one guy to play the hero and one to explain what is going on and why. You don't need to have teams come and do this, or win the game. Just educate the players and make them join the TS and see there is nothing wrong with that.

Requirements: 1 player, 1 explainer. Create event in the Guild. Everyone must join TS to take part in the event.
If you got better suggestions how to make the members join a bigger event together on TeamSpeak and do something together, feel free to post it here.

"We knew this event was happening for a long time"
Yap that is very true. It was kind of painful to see a loss vs Bot match and I wonder what were the Bots set at in the first game. At least they set them on easy for the second game . With things settling down and with the "more power" to the other officers maybe they can think of some event for the Dota 2 AJSA Guild that we can Cast and show off with. I just hope the next time, if people get enough time to plan something, just share it with the community. Everyone here can help out with good suggestions and ideas. True some comments may be just chitchat, but there is a lot of good ideas here.

  9. Puntosmx liked a post in a topic by digitalblade in Are console exclusives good for the gaming industry?
    Game Developer perspective:
What IrishRogue sad at the beginning makes sense. For inhause studios from the same console, they do make sense. But that's about it. Why would you as a game developer want to restrict your work publishing? You want to get less money? No, they need to offer them money in order to compensate the losses of having their game excluded from all the other consoles. Unless they have been offered something amazing, like a contract they would not get at any other console or just more money. If that's not the case, they will not enjoy to be excluded from more money.

    From console sellers perspective:
Well it does sell consoles for no other reason then one single game some times ... I guess selling more consoles does lead to better consoles in the future(sometimes). I'm interested to see how the Steam Box will sell. How many people will take that instead of just a PC with steam and a joypad. I got that already, why would I get one more? Will anyone from the console world buy it, just because it looks like a console, or because they like the idea of finally joining PC games as well.

I personally don't approve of exclusive things. Limiting the success of a game to boost your console is business, while it does boost one console, it definitely don't boost the game.
    ----------------------
Oh one more thing off the topic about the Video Mr_E_Meatshield posted from ReviewTechUSA. Just needed to back up AMD there. Yes we all know the current state, Intel i7 rocks (and you can play every game on i3 too). Just keep in mind what the full name of the 64 bit Processor Architecture is - AMD64. So I'm pretty sure AMD are also doing a fine job and it's because of them, that Intel needed to get their stuff even better.

So I guess in a way if hypothetically Consols would drop exclusive Content. We will get the top 2 console sellers on the front line competing each other constantly with price and performance, always improving. Just like in the PC free world.

Deam Mr_E_Meatshield 10x for the idea, that basically answers the question.

No wait, I forgot to mention that every game is slightly better optimized for either Intel or AMD, and nVidia or AMD, so I guess we have something like PC semi-exclusives as well. Damn it we almost had the answer to everything

    Well,
after watching the last atempt on with the 24 hour stream http://www.twitch.tv/angryjoeshow/b/553829339
I  give up (I'm a dota player, if I ever gave up I would not play DOTA . I seriously thought that Axe is the best and most manly hero we can give to AJ or Sgt Ross(also super fucking easy to play). But it seems unless you really want to play a game you will not learn it.
It's like trying to play a Military shooter but not knowing where the trigger of your gun is ...
Well Craig did his best, it was a good attempt. It will be fun to see another. Also I saw quite a high rate of new "Followers" in the twitch stream, then any of the other games. That should come in account if they follow their Twitch Statistic. I mean getting a follower on a black screen stream is something At least on the recorded version the screen is black for last game.

Craig if they gave you more time, this could have worked but ...
    So for next attempt consider:
    Not having a bot matches.
Making the pick for the heroes on both teams.
Making first game not a real game but just for them to test out their skills and see the skills of the enemy team. Done with control gameplay on both teams not actual game.
Then have one real game with same heroes.

That is all I could think of. Making 2 balanced teams with the right heroes for the "new" guys is the core of this strategy as well as having co-responsive pool of players for the games.

8 cores, 16 GB, High end Graphic Card. What are you guys playing? Space Simulator There really is no reason to debate where to buy the Top AMD or Top Intel. Still if you want to go cheap 4 Cores, 8 GB and a little over the Middle-High Graphics should work with all games as well. SSD is only good to make Programs/Games start faster, but not run faster. besides you're games will probably not be on the SSD.
  12. mrfool liked a post in a topic by digitalblade in So Joe Plays Dota 2...
Well if you can't play Dota 2 yourself and never played Dota 1, ofc you probably can't teach anyone to play dota at all.
Yes we can think of much better smarter and much more enjoyable ways to introduce Dota 2 to AJ again.
However, how many other Moba games have you seen him showing interest in? All I know is he played all of them a couple of games to make a video or a stream. That is what he does. Review a game, not constantly train about one particular game. I've seen him playing LoL(Dota 1 with more boobs), IC( DC - LOL), Blizzard Dota (that unicorn+diablo was worth your money Joe, it made my day , smite (Dota 2 the way I thought Dota +Source Engine will be like), strife (LoL for kids).
He even sad he loved IC, we all know he likes Superman   And we all know he was playing LoL the most from all MOBA games. So how to get him back in a very hard, very demanding Pro game that takes lots of time to learn? Well not by believing he should take his time to learn all about Dota 2, but asking him to take a little of his time for us, his community. To take part in well organized event game that we all can spectate/watch on twitch. That includes on Both Sides AJSA Dota 2 members (In-Hause).

Now that was the basic suggestion up there ^^. I already did a more detailed suggestion some where on the forums, but I've been playing same Moba game for freaking 8 years, so I'm a bit forgetful now.

    Complex suggestion:
Have him play an In-Hause game vs the winners of the next Tournament in the AJSA Dota 2, while in his team are the Dota 2 Officers to help him out. Organise it well, with the idea that you don't have to teach him entire Dota 2 to make this happen. Do either:
    a. Set up good solid FIXED Draft for both teams for a decent Dota 2 game.
    b. Make the Draft and quit the game, go to "prepare him".
    Prepare him:
    - Make a dummy Game with exact same Lineup, with cheats and level up everyone above level 6
    - Let him feel his hero and test his skills.
    - Let him see and feel every other hero that will be in the game and his skills (know your enemy not just your friends)
    - After that preparation game start and stream the real game. Since Delirth will have to take the Steamer slot this time. All of AJSA officers can coach and support Joe.

Give him a mighty Hero worthy of his persona. Give him AXE. He is big, mele, brutal, red, have beard and he is the manliest hero of all Dota. His soul purpose is to GET attacked from as much as possible heroes, in order to make an opportunity for his army to annihilate their opponents. I'm pretty sure he would like that Idea. And he kicks ass back. ( if you tell him to play for Battle Hunger i'm quitting this dota community, you are cutting Axe's balls off when you do that).

If you think that playing vs the strongest team in the AJSA is a bad Idea well then modify that Idea. Make him play with the Winners. I'm sure one of their players will have no problem joining the opposite team or stepping down or let their Captain Coach him if trust worthy. Then he surely will win his game.

This would be probably the most amazing Prize Ever for a AJSA Tournament. I'm sure I'm not alone there.
As it will show him playing this game at a much higher level in a controlled environment, with preparations well done.

So I don't know how many people seen this already. But apperently Compendium was so BIG and GOOD they decided there is no space for Recent games in you Dota Profile anymore. That basically removes the Replay Screen in the Dota 2 Client. You can now download your replays from 3-d party site and play them throw using the console commands ... I am not buying or sporting Compendium if it's removing the ability to download and see Replays in Dota 2. I have stated this at many Developer Forums, if it's suppose to be a Pro game, it needs replays. What the hell are they doing.

I#m guessing not a lot of old timers that played lineage 2 . Well Aion predecessor was Lineage 2 and that was my first MMORPG experience. The reason why I'm talking about it it's cause it is from the same Devs and it has probably many similarities. I played Aion till level 16 or so when I had no more time for MMOs when It became F2P. But let me remind you that this was not originaly a F2P game like Linage 2 it was alway P2P game from the start. Just at some point and time a lot of MMOs had to ho F2P to survive the WoW madness. MMOs are like Facebook. Anyone herd of MySpace? Well not anymore cause you only need one of those things. So eventually After Aion was released Lineage 2 had to go F2P and alfter some time Aion followed. From my experience Aion looked more simple and easier for new players and playing without a guild. How ever if you think Aion is hard you probably played only WoW like things. Lineage 2 was way harder. And guess what, there was no player above level 40 there without a guild. I learned a lot of things during my Lineage 2 times about guilds and MMOs. And I swear you could not do anything in that game without a guild. If Aion is like it, then it makes sense for a guild there. However this kind of old MMOs are really time taking and the Leveling up process is a lifetime experience. I don't know who suggests those and how many people here have gone far in to the game, but when you suggest a game there should be at least one person how got in to it and knows it well. For a lot of people I know, Lineage 2 would remain as the best MMORPG game for the ultimate requirement to be actively a member of a guild, they also had a tons of guild stuff like Zones, Towns, Castles, Taxes over Sales in game. Really a great game. And they both did not started as a F2P games. I just don't know if Aion is as good as Lineage was. Fact is if you are playing one MMO, then there is no reason for you to play any other. Unless you level up to Cap in like a day or so.

Don't play vs Bots unless you want to test heroes/Items/skills.
Read Hero Guides, but thing for yourself and don't take anything for "MUST be the only way to play that hero".
Try to learn each and every Hero(skills) / Item and general Dota 2 mechanics.
Watch your own replays! A lot of people don't do that at all in Dota. It's the best way to learn from your own mistakes.
Try to play each hero at least once, so you know not only what he does but also how he would do it, so you can counter that hero later.
Watch Pro Games! Watching Pro Games gives you an idea how you really could play Dota at a higher level.
Don't watch too much Pro Games, or else you could think that what worked there, will definitely work in your games
Find someone to play with. Dota is a team game and even if you are not in a 5 man team, playing in a group of 2,3 and so on, is a lot more fun.
Xbox Live community is bad? Never had an Xbox, never had to deal with that. Ah I see where the problems is. It's as old as the Dota community really I guess with time every community that gets big, has it's good and bad sides.
Btw TCG can you give me 60 Euro so I can Download Titanfall? I promise I will give you a Tango, it costs 125 gold pieces and I herd from Valve it's price is rising fast lately on the market. If you come to "England" you could probably exchange it for lots of trolls.

It will be nice if we arrange some kind of meeting time for new players to come join and hear to how it all works. Perhaps just listen to one of the gaming sessions that you can do with the people that are already doing D&D.

I see that a lot of people play Rust. I thing I've seen already way too many bad survival game to spend money on it. But as so many people are playing it, I just waned to know what do you see in this game. Why you like it? To me it looks like an empty space with some Zombies, that have crafting element in it. Is it really just like Minecraft with better zombies and Crafting? Also is it true that you have no way of protecting your stuff on the server as you logout? And last how does the servers work. Can anyone that own the game makes his own server like in Minecraft / Other server-based games with free servers on your own PC? Is there some official server, I guess not but still need  to ask. How many players does a normal Gamer PC handle if it hosts the server. Because Minecraft servers were really BAD in resource managing.

And question for the hardcore survival guys. Do the survival elements in this game make sense, or are they enjoyable if you just want to survive and not kill zombies or build Cribs?
