Yes, it's sad but that's the risk you take. I make it a point never to buy anything on Uplay or Origin, since they are generally shitty services. Plus I take contention with these companies forcing me to use their garbage programs just so I can play games I already paid for.

Of course I don't support EA games, I'll just not buy them.  Why should I waste time on them? There are so many other alternatives out there that don't need you jumping through so many hoops to just play the game you bought.

But anyways.  That ending man... I wouldn't be surprised if they made a second season.  It needs a second season, but with Borderlands and Game of Thrones on the way, it might take a bit longer to make.

ubisoft games are best played without uplay. that is all.

I said I will never buy any ubisoft game when they announced that AC2 would be DRM committed. A few years later I have all the AC2 games plus AC3 and a few more crappy ubisoft games. The thing is gamers like me are dumb as fuck and will continually support a broken company because we are dumb so they (ubisoft) can keep producing broken product. I WILL NEVER EVER BUY A UBISOFT PRODUCT AGAIN! See what I did there.

I have no contention with Steam because I chose to install it myself; I wasn't forced to install. True, most games require Steam as their form of DRM, but unlike Origin or Uplay, Steam is generally hassle-free, at least in my experience. If that makes me a hypocrite, then so be it. By your dopey logic your love of Uplay makes you an Ubisoft fanboy.

    Where to start. Hmm...

Path of Exile is a great ARPG. Very dark, very atmospheric. It's what Diablo 3 should have been.

Rift is a great MMORPG that's kind of like WoW but isn't. That doesn't make sense when you read it, but it'll make total sense once you play Rift. Just remember to go Defiant. Guardians are loser assfaces.

DC Universe Online is a pretty good superhero MMORPG. In my opinion, Champions Online is better, but it's a bit dated graphically and its published by Perfect World so there are a ton of paywalls.

If DC isn't your thing, then Marvel Heroes is a good alternative. Although it's an ARPG and not an MMORPG, it's still pretty fun and you can play as some classic Marvel universe heroes.

If you can tolerate anime then I highly recommend Dragon Nest. It's a great action-type MMORPG with a battlesystem similar to Neverwinter but with a story that doesn't put you to sleep. Best character class is the time-traveling tinker girl with the huge cannon.

Bioware used to be one of my favorite developers. They have shot themselves in the foot now with two bad releases. I hope that they can get it together. Although, everything that I've seen from them so far in regards to inquisition makes it look interesting. I'm not day one sold, but I like where it's going

Wow, what an unmitigated disaster. I'm amazed I haven't heard more of this event, sounds like big news what with $400,000 going straight into the toilet mostly because of just one man.

Yeah, that Matti guy seemed like a major douche. Not only was he unprofessional, but he showed a blatant ignorance of who his targeted demographic was by trying to turn a game jam documentary into a scripted reality show drama. The guys at Maker really should have grown a pair and reigned this asshole in from the outset, as everyone saw that he and his team were a disaster waiting to happen. Yet because of their managerial failure, the entire event was ruined.

Oh well, hopefully the next event (if there IS a next event) will be better managed. This game jam fiasco was a pure failure on management's part to keep things on task and everyone on point.

For me, City of Heroes was the reason I was willing to get into MMO's and subscribe. CoH/V was the pinnacle (my 1st server ) of both Superhero games and MMO gameplay to me and I have never found any MMO to top it yet.

Its because of the people who defend this kinda crap that they even tried it in the first place!  The only reason for this to not just be the beginning of the full game is to grab more cash and that is it.  And there is never an excuse for that.

Id rather wait until the full game comes out then this will drop to the price it should have been in the first place.  War thunder i can play for free will keep me plenty busy until then.

You guys can bash me if you wish but I find Joe's review to be kind of fair and he does make some valid points.

    Pros
    Game looks stunning and gorgeous
Gameplay feels like it should for Metal Gear
    Voice acting is solid
Replayability provides different ways on completing goals not to mention finding unlockables
AI is very tough and can react to a lot of different things

    Cons
Game shouldn't have a full price tag ($40 or $30). It should AT LEAST be $15 or so.
Can be completed in a short amount of time.
Side content only lasts a couple of minutes before you get bored of it.
Should have been a BIT longer so extra stuff like the fall of MSF and such can be experienced by the player.

I did buy the game at $30 and I don't regret it. I love Metal Gear but I am no fanboy. The score that Joe provided should have been the score that every reviewer should have given to it. It's a great game, no it's an amazing game but the fact that its too short is a REAL disappointment.

How much you want to bet guys that Joe will be making a Top 10 Most Disappointing Games of 2014. This game would definitely be on the list.

You're being nice, polite, making sense, and you're saying what we (or at least me) think:
Great game (demo). Shit price. Joe had it down.

Although all of your cons are basically the same thing.

What, no option to work for Mr. House?

NCR is a bloated imperialist cesspool of corruption and Caesar's Legion is a cosplaying Rome-wannabee misogynist slave collective. Don't get me wrong, both have their good points, but I'd rather side with House since he's working towards saving the human race as a whole.

Oh, and he has an army of badass robots. Robots always make things better.

Its a business like everything else, its actually shame on us because the more we are willing to pay the more they will continue to charge.
  23. Boss Ronin liked a post in a topic by Riflebird in DC Universe vs. Champions Online, and the void of Superhero RPGs
City of Heroes (and its expansion City of Villains) was absolutely, freaking brilliant. The sheer amount of freedom in customization and story that was available in that game was phenomenal. It was the ultimate superhero MMO, and I will hate NCSOFT till the day I die for killing it.
Sadly, neither of the current superhero games hold a candle to the departed CoH. DC Universe Online (or as I like to call it: Side-kick Simulator 9000) is much, much too limited in scope, as the character customization, powers, and general story is just utterly lackluster. Champions Online, despite being made by the same studio who created CoH, doesn't compare either. Although it has the expansive character customization of CoH as well as much more variance in power sets, since it is owned by Perfect World Entertainment, you can expect to be nickel-and-dimed for EVERYTHING. Even subscribers don't get access to all the content, which is utterly stupid.
All in all, I feel that of the two, Champions Online is the better superhero game. Although I like DCUO's graphics and battle system better, it gets old real fast since there's so little to do in that game besides running around as a gopher for the big-name heroes and villains. Champions has more freedom, but it suffers from outdated graphics and a gauntlet of paywalls that can get irritating at times. I'm sad to say that neither game is perfect. City of Heroes was as perfect a superhero MMO as you could get, but it's dead and gone. I'm hoping City of Titans will pull off the impossible and resurrect the wonder and adventure that CoH had, but I'm not going to hold my breath.
  24. Jackschmit liked a post in a topic by Riflebird in The Elder Scrolls Online: Monthly Subscription for a Full-priced Game
I would be okay if ESO was a regular retail one time payment of $60.
I would be okay if ESO was a subscription model that was $15 a month with the purchase price of $20-$40.
I would be okay if ESO was a free-to-play game with a cash shop that sold micro transactions.
I would even be okay if the business model was a combination of any of the two above.
What I am NOT okay with is ESO triple dipping, charging a full $60 retail, on top of the $15 a month sub, and also having the gall to charge for micro transactions! This is an utterly BS business model that nickel and dimes its customers. The last two MMOs that tried to pull this business model was Star Wars Old Republic and the Secret World; and we know what happened to those two.
Publishers need to stop trying to be the next WoW, because in this climate it isn't gonna happen. WoW and EVE Online are the exceptions to the rule; subscription MMOs are not gonna work anymore regardless of how often game companies try to push them down our throats.
I love the Elder Scrolls series, but I will not be buying ESO. Not only is it not made by Bethesda, it is just not a very good value. I'll stick with Guild Wars 2 and some of the better free to play MMOs out there. Frankly, if history is to be believed, then ESO and Wildstar will be F2P after a few months of launching anyway.
