You ever watch an old action flick that didn't amount to much more than an over the top macho dude doing tough guy things? Yeah, this game is a lot like that.

But seriously; the reason why I find enjoyment out of the COD franchise is because of it's simplicity and decent story. It doesn't take much to be decent at Call of Duty, single player or multiplayer. The controls work well, the gameplay isn't overly challenging ( if you play on anything other than Veteran where you die in like three shots. ) - so it's fun and easy to play. The story is decent and does it job well. To defend the Modern Warfare trilogy, the story is a lot better if you play the previous two titles. I started with MW3, simply so I could play the multiplayer with some of my buds and didn't care for the story when I played it. I went back and played the whole trilogy recently and the story is pretty good ( again, in the sense of an action flick. ). I would say that MW3 had the weakest story, while MW1 had the most solid story. I also enjoy the Black Ops story line, having played only the first two. To seriously defend Black Ops 2 story - they tried something different by allowing some branching story lines. It's limited and amounts to pretty much kill the bad guy or don't kill the bad guy, but again they tried something different.

Ultimately, it's fun. People find entertainment in it and shouldn't have to defend why they find enjoyment in something like this. And all of this is coming from a Battlefield loyalist.

First and foremost, you have to enjoy recording, editing and uploading videos. If you are doing this to get popularity / famous then it is going to be pretty obvious that you are not enjoying what you are doing, and your work is going to suffer because of it.
With that out of the way, the best game to play if you are going to do a Let's Play style of video is your favorite game. You probably know almost everything there is to know about your favorite game, so it should be easy for you to talk about for a extended period of time. Again, you shouldn't focus on what is popular. You should focus on what you know and what you can provide interesting commentary about.
I would be pretty interested in a series that talks about literary themes and allusions that appear in video games. I haven't seen anything like that on Youtube. The closest thing would be a channel that talks extensively about the lore of a video game. I think that would work out pretty well.

I saw that and I kind of agree with Sakurai. I agree that Smash needs to be first and foremost a "party" game. It needs that aspect so that both casual and hardcore players can get equal enjoyment out of it.
  8. MrBuradori liked a post in a topic by Shagger in Nintendo Working On "New Console Ideas"
So the WiiU, the console designed for the living room gamer that's been handling 1080p 60fps like a boss, backwards compatible, lacks the DLC and micro-transaction bullshit (or at least way less) from other platforms, the very best 1st party support like Nintendo always has and more exclusives than any other console is doing wrong? Thus we need a new console in 2-3 years?

I'm gonna let you in on a secret. In terms on console wars, it's almost always been the less powerful console that has won, a Nintendo being that victor on more than one occasion. The WiiU is a long, LONG way from a bad console, it's been badly marketed, and that's what crippled it, not it's hardware or games.

So I started to play Spec OPs: The Line and... my god, that game is amazing. Without spoiling anything the game has made me want to stop playing because of how guilty it made me feel.

  12. nickyzhere liked a post in a topic by MrBuradori in Next year's Assassin's Creed has been announced. It'll be set in Victorial London. Thoughts?
I have no excitement for this series left. It has become akin to Call of Duty, in my opinion. Nothing makes me want to pre-order or get it on launch day. This series, (like Call of Duty) for me, is just kinda... there. I will most likely purchase it, sometime in the future after a price drop, but for the time being I can not get excited about anything coming out of it. It has become Quantity over Quality.
This series was steadily losing me from the point they introduced the Godlike characters. I preferred it when the series focused on the mystery of the Assassins and Templars and could have gone down the conspiracy route, having the Templars control everything and have it lead closer and closer to modern day where the surviving Assassins have to take out political leaders.

    I thought Assassin's Creed 1 was best Assassin's Creed.
I think some free to play games are amazing.
I think the call o dooty campaigns are fun.
I think the first Dragon Age was boring as shit. Decent story though. Morigan best girl.
I think the extended cut for Mass Effect 3 only puts a band-aid on a hole in a dam.
I think Street Fighter 4 and all of it's revisions suck ass.
I think MvC3 and UMvC3 suck ass. Fun, but still a pile of crap.
I played Fallout 3 four times. I'm not even half way done with New Vegas... I got bored of it.
I think early access games are a great idea.
I think indie games can be better than AAA games and pave a way to a new gaming boom.
    I think Kickstarter is great.
I think people should turn the free to play mmos into regular games when they shut down so people can still play them.
I think MineCraft is boring (yet I play Starbound).
I think Fable 2 was best Fable. Fable 1 was good. Fable 3....... Well...... Fable Heroes was better.
That's all I got at the moment.
  15. Lhouraii liked a post in a topic by MrBuradori in Which is your Favourite Zelda Game?
I am stuck between so many. I can't decide between Majora's Mask or Ocarina of Time. Every Zelda game is fantastic but those two are my absolute favorite. The symbolism in Majora's Mask is unbelievable. Meanwhile I absolutely love Ocarina of Time and feel that I could explain what to do in that game down to every detail. I suppose my top five would be listed as such.
    1. Ocarina of Time (not by much)
    2. Majora's Mask
    3. Skyward Sword
    4. Twilight Princess
    5. Wind Waker

For whatever reason I don't hate QTEs and I never have. I can understand what others are saying. I can understand that QTEs can take away from the gameplay, the atmosphere, ect. But I never hated them. In some cases, I don't see how certain scenes can be done without them (by keeping the gameplay, instead of making the scene just a cut scene.)
For example, the final fight in Far Cry 3, (or at least the knife fight section, I am failing to remember the entirety of that final fight) has to either be cut scene or down with QTEs. I don't see how those actions can be done with "normal" game play.

I loved this game and was upset with myself that I took so long to actually play through it. One thing that struck me as weird was playing through Pittsburgh and seeing a city that I live so close to becoming an apocalyptic city full of screwed up people. It made me wonder what my story would have been if I lived through the events of the game.

I did not expect the ending. I was honestly surprised to see Joel kill Marlene and destroy a possible hope for humanity. I side with Joel's decision. To him, Ellie is worth all of those lives and, as was previously said, with the way the world turned out, who was left to save? The Hunters? Fireflies? the people living in the quarantine zone and the military? I'd be interested to know what the population of surviving humans is. Also, we have no idea if a cure could be created with using the parasite inside her. Her sacrifice could be for nothing. A sacrifice she didn't have a say in.  I also felt like the ending was incomplete. I feel like a sequel could be possible but also that the story could be left as is.

I have yet to play the DLC and am very interested in it.

I always behaved a bit strange whenever something scary popped up in a game. Instead of being terrified of it, I get extremely interested in it. I want to learn everything about it.
On a related note, the giant ants and other bugs in Fallout. For whatever reason those things make my skin crawl.

I personally dislike this notion. I am going to preface this by saying I am not bashing anyone's opinion.
I don't understand topics like this. It is not like survival is the only genre being made. Stop playing that genre until you are eventually in the mood for it. You are not being forced to buy/play those games. When I read a topic like this, I am under the impression that people want the devs to no longer release games like that for an extended period of time, as in the entire genre being non existent for x amount of years. That isn't fair for those who are always interested in that genre.
Just my two-cents. Again, not hating on anyone's opinion.
  23. Cap0bvious liked a post in a topic by MrBuradori in My new biggest fear in modern gaming :c
The single player is one of the most important parts of the game. As Joe has said, the single player should lead up to the multiplayer. The Single Player should (while containing itself to a complete story), almost serve as a prelude to the online portion.
The single player gives the game background. It introduces the lore of the game and gives the player the oppurtunity to care about the universe they fighting in.

I rather enjoyed (and in parts disliked) what Grand Theft Auto V did by releasing the game before the multiplayer portion was availabe, so it almost forced people to take part in single player story. (I somewhat dislike this because they are essentially keeping a portion of the game from the player which in some cases, like Metro Last Light, can be an extremely bad idea.).
So in short, Single Player is a very important part of games and will most likely continue to be a main feature in the majority of games.

  25. MrBuradori liked a post in a topic by Gone the Third in Struggling Opinion, what do you think?
Why should we bother? Because some of us see games as an art form, and not just something we do to kill time. Some of us want said art form to progress; to be taken seriously by the general public as being on par with films and literature in terms of notability. Meanwhile, there are companies like EA that have no respect for the medium and see it only as a printing press for money. They're the ones holding it back, making the entire medium look like nothing more than the same half dozen or so games with different titles in the eyes of the average person. Making the entire medium look like nothing more than, well, a game.

If he wants to play games for kicks, to have some fun after a busy day, then fine; more power to him. But to me, there's more to it than kill cams and K/D. There are stories, characters, deep messages, emotional investment- that's why I care enough to complain when Activision or EA or anyone slaps together a half-finished product without any kind of identity, rushes it out the door, and nicks my wallet on the way by. This industry is capable of so much, yet it's content to spin just it's wheels with what's making money.
