  1. @J2D Unless sarcastic, the bounty change does not change how much gold the team gets. The gold increase is for the self, not team. Still, it is a nice change. The change to lifestealer will be fun though. Must bear in mind it is his ult so wont be able to do anything too crazy until 6. But when you can, it will be hilarious. To me the idea of troll with its ensnare will make ganking fun and perhaps even the ghost creep for the slow. For me, the changes I do really enjoy is the Windrunner change (Since I <3 windrunner and she is the best hero eva!) and Cm since well... they just made my carry matches with her all the more enjoyable.
  2. With the nearing of Christmas, Valve is getting in the spirit by giving us yet another patch. Not so much a content patch but more along the lines of balance. We will not be getting the Winter mode much like last year but we will still be getting the Winter map. There are some goodies for people that enjoy spending their money. With the patch, Valve will release the Treasure of the Frosted Flame, Treasure of the Nested Cache, Effigy Block of Frost, and the Gift Wrap.   3. It is ok to be doubtful and question the potential excuses but we do have to be realistic. The fact of the matter is the DDoS does and still occurs to this day. It does happen to Pro players, to companies like Blizzard, and even to Valve. To say it is merely an escape goat is rather disingenuous considering we have seen it occur more often than it has in the past. It has become a very serious problem, especially to pro players. If you look behind the scenes to streamers (pro players), there is a lot that goes into preventing getting attacked. For quite some time, most popular streamers avoided using skype completely because there was a flaw in the software which made it easy for someone to gain access to a persons IP. You gotta realize that the idea of people simply wishing for the world to burn is quite relevant here. There are some people that will go after tournaments, players, companies purely for the sake of showing off what they can do. There are also financial possibilities, especially when it comes to tournaments. Hell, during the release of the new CoD, there was one streamer that in real time, we can see getting DDoS'd. Oh and let us not forget the attack in August. A plethora of companies were attacked; Sony, Blizzard, Sony Online, Riot, Xbox Live, and Grinding Gear Games. Such attacks have been known to occur back in the early 2000's. In April, several DotA 2 tournaments were attacked (in one case, the G-1 tournament was attacked leading to players or entire teams being taken off). The tournament ended up having to be postponed due to such attacks. It is nice and all saying it is merely an escape goat for companies to blame their servers on. But in reality, it is a constant problem and it should not be essentially belittled so easily. Oh and you know what, since you gave the examples of Diablo III and Sc2. On NA side, there were zero problems. On Diablo III, there were major server problems and guess what, Blizzard did not blame it on DDoS. Not much of an escape goat when it was due to simply being 'unprepared' for the mass amount of players. It does not happen with every game of theirs (Blizzard). But you have to realize, it is not very easy to prevent. Servers cost a lot of money, upkeep, etc. You have to make a decision on what is to be expected long beforehand since it takes a while for it to even get setup. And you know what, they got it wrong. They know they messed up, we know it as well. Figuring out the balance of server to purchase ratio is never 100% spot on. It sucks when they get it wrong and they (the company) hate it as well. The companies do not want it to happen because it costs them sales, it hurts them financially, and potentially lose customers. So it is in their best interest to get it correct.
  4. For some time now, DotA 2 has been plagued with periodic network issues which I am sure a good a number of you have noticed. This is is particularly clear for those that often play on the Us East server. A consequence of such issues means people often blame Valve and claim they are bad at running servers. The problem here is that there are variables now impeding the networks depending on a number of reasons. Today (18th), Valve released a blog bringing some attention to the problem and the causes for them. In the Blog, Valve discusses the three variables as to what may impact a users ping. Although the blog is not quite lengthy, I will just point out the main points. The three main variables: DDOS on data centersDDOS on specific serversNetwork connectivity issuesThe first problem is one we are most accustomed to noticing. This is the one that impacts specific regions (such as Us East). This year in particular, we have witnessed numerous attacks on major companies such as Valve, Blizzard, and Riot. Recently with the release of Blizzard's new World of Warcraft Expansion, there have been DDOS attacks on Blizzard hindering and often preventing players from getting into the game. Although steps have been taken to help prevent this from occurring, it is still a constant reminder that we cannot expect servers to be 100%. The second of the issues is smaller on scale, likened to that of a drone attack. These attacks are focused on pro players and tournaments. These attacks in particular occur when IP's for the players or events are released. Steps have been taken to help prevent it from happening, to better protect the IP's. It is rather unfortunate that these steps have to occur to begin with. The final of the discussed issues Valve brought up ties with the ISP's. Noted regions affected have been SEA and South America. The difficulty with this issue is that each region has its own problems that can cause havoc. Which leads Valve to research and investigate each area to see what may be the cause. On the bright side, Valve is continuously working to solve these issues. The most recent patch worked toward remedying the network problems.   10. The changes, although some I may not necessarily agree with, will change the meta regardless. This has been necessary for quite some time. The meta in general has been way to stagnant and borderline boring. Hopefully with the plethora or buffs/nerfs, the game will feel refreshing. No problem for the post. I would have taken the time to add the hero pics as well (which I did do) but only afterwards realized there is an image limit. So I can't add pictures for each of the heroes like shown on the blog.

Along with the balance, we are to be given the Shadow Fiend remodel that has been in the works (and known about) for months. A lot will be changing with this patch so we shall see what awaits us in the world of DotA 2 upon its release.   13. Upon the arrival of Techies... God help us for the end of days are upon us. I have foreseen and been witness to the grim future and dark times are ahead of us. Here is a portrayal for the state of DotA 2 soon.
  14. It wont be long until the landscape of DotA 2 shall be turned into a hellish zone. Techies is on his way along with a plethora of other goodies. Those that dare to play -Ap during this period will learn the horrors and suffering that is techies. The new patch will include: All Random DeathmatchGallery of TriumphsAll-Hero ChallengeAll Random Deathmatch-This was already in the game (can be played via console) but it is finally getting added. Essentially you get a hero and when you die, you spawn as a different hero. You keep your items which makes items like blink dagger important since it is so versatile. Each team has a pool of 40 heroes and once all 40 have been killed, you win. You can also win by destroying the other teams Ancient. Gallery of Triumphs-It is essentially achievement within the game. Accomplish a certain challenge and you will be rewarded with a trophy. Example being the completion of the Ten Hero Challenge. All-Hero Challenge-Upon opening your DotA profile, you will be assigned a random hero and once you claim Victory, you will move on to the next hero. You will be shown the average number of matches it has taken for all players worldwide to win and upon completion, you will get a trophy. The compendium owners from TI4 will be getting the Assured Victory Shout, Taunt for techies, Battle Glory Kill Banner, and the International 2014 Music Pack. Along with the content, there will be a variety of changes to the game but not so much balance related.
